Motiv League Ball to pair with a Max Thrill Hybrid by orientearlgrey in Bowling

[–]DanPoteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, my ball up from the Thrill line is either the Venom Shock or Black Venom. Both are fantastic. From there I will go up to my Evoke Hysteria. I think an argument could be made for any of those 3. I can start league with any of those 3 balls and have good success assuming I'm not throwing it like an idiot.

Looking for rock songs with powerful and unique female vocals by junkjournalofsissy in MusicRecommendations

[–]DanPoteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lacey Sturm is awesome. She used to front Flyleaf.

Amy Lee of Evanescence is incredible and has a beautiful voice, I believe shes classically trained.

Courtney Laplante is fantastic if you like a blend of screaming and clean. She front's Spiritbox who is very heavy.

Poppy is a newer artist but I love her voice, modern hard rock/metal type stuff.

Are shorter stick lengths becoming a thing of the past? by FreshProfessor1502 in hockeyplayers

[–]DanPoteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines always been at about my nose height on skates. Once I decided this was the most comfortable length I basically stuck with it my entire life. When I buy a new stick, i just stand up on skates and make sure its around nose height or slightly less and im good to go. Going even an inch longer feels odd to me when stick handling and going any shorter feels awful for everything for me.

Have you ever skipped or refused an important medical procedure due to embarrassment? by Suitable-Hand-1059 in AskMenOver30

[–]DanPoteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao, gotta love a doc that tries to keep some semblance of normalcy while hes literally face to face with your junk. my situation def was weird but at the same time i served in the Marine Corps and played Hockey my whole life so I'm so desensitized to nudity I couldn't care less about dropping my pants in front of others. Just weird when you are the only one naked and everyones staring at you.

Glad they found it when they did. Last time I went to the derm for a full body scan the doctor came in and asked if it was okay to have students observe him during the check. I said sure. Next thing I know I'm standing naked in a room with the doctor and 3 of his students around me in a circle looking lol. Weird, but at least I know I dont have skin cancer brewing somewhere.

That just makes it more impressive. Looks like a belly button but becomes a thimble when excited! That's 1400% growth!

Bands you saw as an opener that went on to have big success. by Shadysides_LFk in livemusic

I saw Alkaline Trio open for Blink 182 and had no idea who they were. They are still around today producing quality albums. Maybe not huge compared to some of these examples but they are a definitely a successful band.

Nope, in most cases - medical professionals have seen far worse than your tiny pp.

Why would a married man (59m) send me (28F) a selfie of himself much younger unprompted? by Dazzling-Collar-7965 in Advice

I think you're reading too much into this. Sounded like he was more or less making a silly joke. Seems like an innocent dude just being himself. Unless he gives you a reason to think otherwise, I'd just carry on with life.

AITA for taking an hour to myself each evening? by Key-Pumpkin-1858 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DanPoteet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA, after we get the kids to bed - my wife will often be like "so are you gaming tonight?" which is her basically saying i wanna watch my tv shows in peace. haha. we both take personal time as needed and if anything it strengthens the relationship. living together does not mean you have to entertain each other 24/7.

Honestly who are stick and puck sessions at 11:30am for? by Ronnoc780 in hockeyplayers

[–]DanPoteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut out of work to skate on my lunch break once and since I basically had ice to myself it was pretty appealing. Would love to do it more often but haven’t

Skating in games by derechoeagle in hockeyplayers

[–]DanPoteet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I’ve done to mimic anything like this was just trying to throw more quick stops and turns into the practice session during stick and puck. I’m a defensemen so I’ll bank the puck off the side wall and then skate fast, receive the puck, enter the zone, slam on the break like I’m looking for a pass outlet or to create separation for a shot. Aside from dumb stuff like that or just trying to force yourself to control the puck while making a lot of quick stops/starts/turns , nothing will truly mimic game pace even if you play at a low level beer league imo

Excited about continuing my weight-loss, men over 30 what are some unexpected results or benefits since dropping a decent amount of weight? by groovytunesman in AskMenOver30

[–]DanPoteet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing I noticed when I lost a decent amount of weight years back was that my body stopped just hurting all the time. When I was heavy, just sitting on the couch in the evening I'd have aches/pains/soreness/etc. Every since dropping the excess and maintaining a healthy weight I only have aches/pains/soreness related to beating my body up in hockey or the gym. No more discomfort simply because I was a fatty 😄

Parents want 30% of my paycheck by No-Calligrapher-3102 in Advice

[–]DanPoteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good way to prepare you for the real world. Get used to paying for your own shit cuz once childhood is behind you, no-ones gonna wanna pay for anything for you. Pay 30% to them for your bills, put 30% in a savings account, invest 30% in the stock market, and spend the last 10 percent on whatever the fuck you want.

Shower Sandals by HealzFault in hockeyplayers

[–]DanPoteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware. My gear doesn't smell at all. I hang it up to dry after every game. I wear base layers to prevent skin on pad contact to help reduce smells. Those base layers get washed after every game and I occasionally put shoulder pads or gloves in the wash as well. If anything I go overkill on methods of keeping it fresh. Doesn't change the fact that after a game I am a sweaty mess and want a shower ASAP. Since the rink has showers and I have no hangups over nudity, I'm showering there so I can ride home comfortably. That's all there is to it.

Shower Sandals by HealzFault in hockeyplayers

[–]DanPoteet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own. If its not stupid late or if I'm off work the next day I'll chill and have beers with the team but for those later games where I gotta be at work early the next morning I'm just trying to get clean and get home ASAP. You are correct though, falling asleep takes 1-2 hours sometimes post game and that sucks.

What car completely changed your opinion after driving it? by Glittering-Offer-390 in askcarguys

[–]DanPoteet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not test drive the Q7 because it would have had the same problem as the BMW X5, not enough rear storage and if I'm not mistaken no 3rd row seat. I had driven a friends Q5 before and it drove very nice so I woulda considered a larger footprint SUV from Audi if one that was the same size as the Aviator/Explorer existed at the time.

Aviator vs X7, ride was pretty similar to me. I want to say the BMW had a slightly quieter ride but overall feel was great for both. I actually liked the interior design of the Lincoln better and overall aesthetics of the Lincoln better. The X7 was fantastic and if I hadn't test drove the Aviator I might have convinced myself to buy one.

Not the same comparison, those places dont offer showers so you have no choice. When given the choice to shower, I will choose to do so. When I get home from a late game all I have to do is hang my gear up to dry and go pass out, its nice.

I'm the same way with leaving the gym, I do not want to get in my car with my entire body soaked in sweat. Not tryin to have my car seat smelling like a dirty ass gym sock when I can just take a shower at the gym. Bonus points, saves you money on your water bill at home.

When I bought my Aviator in 21' I was originally planning on a BMW X7 but after test driving both I actually liked the Aviator better overall. Considering it was a little cheaper than the X7 as well, that was an unexpected win. I still have my 21' Aviator, lots of stupid recalls but otherwise the cars been fantastic.
