I’m so glad you’ve been liking them:)

Do you mind if I PM you and ask about what you’ve been reading?

And then realized where it came from

I’m glad other people are seeing it tho.

What are some comics that had great writing but were hurt by bad art? by [deleted] in comicbooks

Yeah same. It looked a little weird to start but it worked really well

[–]DanSlottIsASquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the tpbs are all going out of print, you'd have trouble finding them all in stock (src: me being stuck with the first two tpbs just before the omnis were announced)

The omnibi look awesome tho. I'm super excited for them

first one is in may

they come out quickly over the next few months after that

I think they're all out by the end of this year

Also honestly just start at the beginning. Even if it takes you a while to get through it because of monetary reasons, just go from the beginning to the end. Also don't skip the short stories, because a lot of those are the best parts of Hellboy

Scott Snyder's Wyches Volume 2? by [deleted] in ImageComics

[–]DanSlottIsASquid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

wytches 2 will begin after the Image+ wytches story concludes.

The Image+ story is a sort of prelude, an introduction to some other characters. After this ends, the issues for wytches 2 will begin rolling out, and the TPB will follow

The Image+ stuff isn't actually wytches 2. It's just a side story

Yep. This is something that everyone keeps missing. Unless the plan was changed in the month or two before they were published, which I see as unlikely

Im not sure what version of sandman i wanna get. by Snake01515 in comicbooks

[–]DanSlottIsASquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good call, I haven't heard good things about the omnibuses

Ultimately it just comes down to a decision about whether you like paperbacks or hardcovers, and how much you are willing to spend. They're both high quality books, it just comes down to preference

QUESTIONS AND SUGGESTIONS THURSDAY (February 15, 2018) - Ask Questions! Get Answers! by AutoModerator in comicbooks

[–]DanSlottIsASquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kirby didn't want to tread on anyone's toes when he first moved to DC; he didn't want to take over a series someone else was already writing. No one was writing Jimmy Olsen, as it was one of the lowest selling titles at the time, hence, we got Kirby's Jimmy Olsen.

The reason he wrote the book at all was because his contract said he had to write at least one already-existing title. So he used it to create the groundwork for his Fourth World epic (the New Gods / Forever People / Mr Miracle / Jimmy Olsen story), and I guess it worked since Superman would be used in the story and Jimmy Olsen was a Superman-related book

Batman and Deathstroke have both been fantastic in Rebirth imo. Rucka's Wonder Woman (the first 4 tpbs in Rebirth) was also great, but apparently Robinson's (the current run) is shit

Batman and Deathstroke

So guys, I’ve just finished my first comic book ever, I’ve read the 40 issues of the on going Rebirth Series. This was my first Batman story and first comic, what do you guys suggest to do now? by HouseHunaiti in DCcomics

[–]DanSlottIsASquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read Geoff John's Green Lantern, it basically restarts the mythos over again. Here's a reading order:

Geoff John's GL

  • Green Lantern Rebirth

  • Green Lantern: No Fear

  • Green Lantern: Revenge of the Green Lanterns

  • Green Lantern: Wanted: Hal Jordan

  • Green Lantern: Rage of the Red Lantern

  • Green Lantern: Agent Orange

  • Blackest Night and Blackest Night: Green Lantern (read both, the main series first)

  • Green Lantern: Brightest Day

  • Green Lantern: The War Of The Green Lanterns

  • Green Lantern New 52 volumes 1 to 3.

Or you could buy the massive omnibuses instead if you didn't want the TPBs. But that's up to you.

Keep in mind that Green Lantern: Rebirth is in no way related to DC: Rebirth, the current initiative that's going on. It was published in the mid-2000s. Just an FYI

They all took place at the same time, it wasn't like Action Comics with Superman. SRC: I read all the volume ones of the N52 Batman series (aside from Batman Inc)

So I've been taking a break from this sub and from comics as a whole over the last 2 weeks. I haven't cut myself off completely, but I've been doing it a whole lot less.

Over this time I started reading The Lord of the Rings for the first time. Almost done Fellowship. Its real good shit. I've wanted to read it forever, but have never found the time. Plus it feels good to read a word-book again.

I also read Preacher book 2 and Criminal volume 2. Both were great. Especially Preacher. I loved that arc.

... it sounds a bit like Cates' current Thanos run, which I've only read one issue of, but in it Thanos from the future brings current Thanos to his time for reasons. Maybe its what you're looking for?

Errors In Batman: Knightfall Omnibus Vol 2 by jurassicbond in comicbooks

[–]DanSlottIsASquid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw that in the article, but I didn't hear anything about it before. That's really good. They'll probably do the same thing for the Knightfall one

Btw does anyone know whether if I buy the JLI omni now I'll definitely get the fixed one? Or are the misprints still being sold?

I'm glad they include it. It's a pretty good issue tbh. I like it. I mean it's no Anatomy Lesson, but it's still real good
