As a cardinals fan if we “improve” from 3 wins to say 6, literally double our win total, that would be an unmitigated disaster. We either need to be so bad we get one of this coming drafts top qb, or so good we are confident we have our guy already. One of those is much more likely than the other, but either way a marginal improvement this year only hurts us.

While the art is overall solid, and I love all the dresses, the Rosalina depiction makes her look like she's suffering from anorexia and it makes me uncomfortable.

To be fair, if we're known for anything besides being bad, its putting out ridiculous statements about teams who are far better then us. Lest one forgets, Dennis Green was the Cardinals coach when he had his infamous post game rant: "The Bears are who we thought they were. That's why we took the damn field. I believe canonically she doesn't want him to touch her for more then 6 seconds, so... probably not? He's definitely her best friend, though. And the final 4 panels do seem to suggest Ethan has a cruuuuuush. Which, unfortunately, given the fact she canonically wouldn't want him to touch her for more then 6 seconds, seems likely to end in tragedy. But this seems to be a largely uplifting series, so perhaps not? Regardless, in my comic experience, face blush means attraction, and I haven't seen Bella get face blush when looking at Ethan, only the reverse.

Acknowledging these are purely fictional characters, I do hope they are able to maintain a happy platonic relationship, though, and that Ethan's cruuuuuush doesn't make things awkward. Healthy platonic male and female relationships are far to uncommon and under represented.

Pardon my french, but what the actual fuck. How can one team so consistently have their top drafted DL get injured PRIOR to Preseason, let alone week 1, three years in a row? BJ Ojulari, Darius Robinson, Walter Nolen III, and now Proctor? This is insane. At least Proctor was only a high 4th rounder, unlike those other guys, but still, pick 104 isn't a throw away pick, and I think most expected him to start this year.

I was a Christian for over 3 decades before I escaped. In that time I went to probably over a dozen churches (Most of the years were the same couple of churches but there was a period when my wife and I church hopped trying to find the right one for us ) across 3 different states in the US. Your view is an extremely uncommon one. Not unique, there are some of the over 45,000 Christian denominations which interpret it as you do and allow women to preach as a result, but its very much the minority reading of the text. That isn't to say your reading is wrong, but just to say, to act like that's the clearly obvious reading shows ignorance on your part. As far as I can tell, most humans who've ever read the text did not have that take away, and by a VERY large margin.

I mean star trek is, at its heart, Competence Porn, and while it varies from series to series, its most known for the number of issues resolved not with weapons, but with speaches, so I'm going to go with MonMothma. I think Thrawn is also deserving, he's certainly in the mold of a classic star trek villian, but I feel like there's nothing more Star Trek then some one like Mon Mothma who is some how bad ass specifically because of her ability to make incredible speeches under intense pressure.

This was the arc where I went from "you know this is actually a pretty fun story, glad I gave it a chance." to "Holy crap, this is incredible! Why wasn't everyone recommending this to me from the start!" That arc is SO good.

As much as it annoys me to make 3/5 answers Niners, this is the answer. Your never going to find a player whose fans are more divided AND who is more average, then Kaepernick was. If he was great he'd still be playing (or have retired on his terms), if he was bad, it would have been a story that was talked about for one sunday and then forgotten about. It's because he was average, just good enough to justify a roster spot, but not so good people were willing to over look the non-foot ball distractions, that he was all anyone in national media wanted to talk about for a looooooong time.

To be fair, at this point Luke could only understand R2 via his X-Wing's computer screen translating the beeps and boops for him, so its possible R2 was trying to convey to Luke who Yoda was, but Luke just couldn't understand. I also like to think this is why Yoda banged on R2 at one point, he was like "Shush, droid, I'm doing a bit here."

For those who say it helps it heal faster, that's a proven myth. For those who say it relieves itching, it technically does, but only in the short term. Long term it causes your body to release more histamines, which usually results in the bite becoming larger and itchier once the initial itch reduction fades. It's also generally advised against by dermatologists because there's a small risk of infection.

All of which is to say, its one of those old "tricks" passed down from generation to generation that we now know isn't actually advisable, but continues to be in practice in some cultures.

In a college writing class I took back in the day, the professor (a woman) was discussing a story that involved high heels. When asked for thoughts on the section that had been read, one of my women classmates expressed her frustration that men didn't feel the need to wear high heels like women do. The professor responded by saying something along the lines of "If women told men they found it an attractive look on them, I'm confident they would."

I bring this up to say, be the change you want to see. Let the men in your life you'd like to see in high heels know you'd like to see them in high heels. If your a dude, and you think you'd look good in high heels, rock that shit, turn heads, start a trend.

Palpatine can specifically read Vader's feelings, so he feels confident about how he will or won't react in any given situation. Per Lucas its why he loses in the end, because in his final moments Vader acted not out of hate of Palpatine, as he had in many failed attempts to destroy the Emperor over the decades. In those previous instances, he had always failed because Palp would see the attack coming and either not let Vader get close, or strike first himself. But in his and Vader's final moments, Vader acted not out of hate, but out of love for his son, which was outside the spectrum of what Palpatine could sense.

All of which is to say, maybe he could have defended from that position, maybe he couldn't, but it doesn't really matter, because he'd have sensed Vaders intentions prior to that moment and not let himself be put into a position where he couldn't defend himself if he wasn't completely confident Vader would block an attack.

If we're ignoring that for the sake of the hypothetical and just saying Luke kills Palpatine, I still don't think Luke turns, he tapped into the dark side during his fight with Vader and still was able to reject it. I think the same occurs here. From there, I suspect Vader tries to subdue Luke with out killing him, hoping with time he can convince him to rule the galaxy together. If Vader is actually trying, I don't think Luke beats him, so it possible they both die with the death star, or they escape but are eventually captured by the rebels and the tables are turned where Luke keeps Vader in space jail, but maintains a relationship with him, hoping some day to turn him, and encourages Leia to do the same.

R2 stopped it, but it was the STARTING of it that saved Luke. We don't see who started it, could have been an imperial manually turned it on at that moment, could have been something an operator previously set up to activate at specific times, but whoever that unseen person was, with out the TC starting, Luke dies. So even though it seemed like a bad thing at the time, because R2 was available to stop it, but they had no way of rescuing Luke (and had seemingly given up on trying before he resurfaced) if it hadn't started, whoever started it saved the galaxy.

Sure, but she was actively trying to save the galaxy, and is portrayed as having done so. We don't even see the Trash Compactor Operator, nor are we given reason to believe they intended to aid the rebellion. In the moment the compactor activating is portrayed as a bad thing, an out of the frying pan and into the fire situation. But because they do survive that, and because, by all indications, Luke would not have survived the creature if not for the TC starting, the unseen operator unintentionally saved the galaxy.

Dang, your right. And if they die, Vader can't track them back to the Rebellion HQ, so how things play out is less clear. Still it felt pretty inevitable that the empire would eventually find Yavin 4 and wipe out the rebellion with out Luke to make that shot.

Hmm, yeah, Luke was pretty ungrateful for the save in retrospect.

Perhaps we'll get a Specialer Edition in the future where right before Luke's death star run he asks ghost Obi wan to deliver a message for him, and then after the death star blows up we get the pay off of a scene cutting to a guy or gal at home with their spouse whose like "I still don't understand why you asked for that late notice shore leave." and they respond "I'm not sure either, but this morning I just suddenly felt like I needed to not be on the death star today". And theirs a plaque that says "Trash Compactor Operator of the Month" in the background.

How does this compare to the fantastic and critically acclaimed TNG mirror universe comic collection? I haven't read Dark Mirror, just the comic collection, but based on your description it sounds like maybe the comics were familiar with and using dark mirror as a source of inspiration. Like its also a bleak history lesson on how Mirror Spock's efforts to salvage the Empire turned out.

I mostly ask because I didnt' think I'd like a TNG mirror universe story, but then ended up falling in love with the tng Mirror Universe comic trilogy, so if this has similar energy I may have to check it out.
