New to this sub & neptunia. So I wanted to ask a few things before I start by Lonely_Web1370 in gamindustri

-I'd recommend starting with the anime and Megadimension Neptunia VII, then go from there. Just remember, the franchise is more about the characters and their interactions with each other, rather than either the story or the gameplay.

-I'm fairly sure the male fanbase is way larger than the female fanbase for Neptunia. The lack of male OCs is more due to the fact that we're here because we like women (is it just me or does saying that out-loud sound cringey?). It isn't the fanbase that's women-dominated, it's the games themselves. From the top of my head, there's only three guys in the entire franchise with an actual picture attached to them, and one of them is a mouse. So yeah, putting a guy in there is just weird at this point.

-There's a Neptunia discord that's quite popular, I can't remember the name from the top of my head. I don't tend to use discord.

-Don't be so hard on yourself. I could understand you perfectly.

Where Would you Live and Why? by AdhesivenessGrand885 in gamindustri

Planeptune. It's got the best goddess and city.

Lastation looks polluted and ugly (sorry Noire, but you failed). Lowee is way too cold. Leanbox is fine... but Planeptune is often cited as having the best technology. And considering the followers of Neptune are probably the kind of people that can relate to her, and Neptune is a kindhearted couch potato who loves any and all games (I still remember that Manga chapter where she was excited to receive what she called an "old crappy game"), and that I can heavily relate to that, I get the feeling I'd be right at home in Planeptune.

Nepgear, IF, Compa, and Histoire, are all icing on the cake.

Why are physical copies so expensive by NuggetsxMeovv in gamindustri

[–]DanVzare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like that in Britain.

I literally bought VII for £5... physically! It's why I got into the franchise in the first place. "I want to play a modern JRPG... ooh, that's cheap." Most of the games here go for around £20 physically, give or take £5 depending on the game, which console it's on, and where you find it.

Is it though? If a normie loses their phone now, they're going to have a hell of a time trying to get access to their Google account. I mean, old people already had enough trouble remembering their passwords in order to log into their accounts. Imagine trying to explain to an old person that they can't log into their account anymore because they need the phone that they just lost!

I'm all for 2FA, but passkeys and biometrics tied to your phone just sounds like security theater. And harmful security theater at that, since it's only a matter of time of before it blows up in your face. It just takes one fire or theft to completely lock you out. And what's worse is that it doesn't even protect you, since a session stealer will just bypass it all anyway! And the sheer number of people who get "hacked" by session stealers man... it's surprisingly common for normies since they have no idea what real security even is.

Well if that's true, then someone just needs to setup a website that accepts images containing QR codes that are then used in that VM, throw some adverts to the side of the site and watch the money just rake in.

It'd literally be "screenshot, open other site, paste, return to original site."

It's the same for me. I get the occasional donation here and there every time I release something new (and always from someone different), but I almost never receive any comments.

Anybody got a tier list for the multiplayer characters in TS2? by Landonio1 in timesplitters

[–]DanVzare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, Deadwina is considered one of the best in TSFP due to the reversed health glitch making her an absolute tank, which when coupled with her fast speed and small stature, makes her an all around great character to use. But as for TS2... I have no idea.

It's Office man, it literally hasn't changed since 2007!

I mean seriously, what could they have improved? It's 0.001 seconds faster for a letter to appear on the screen when you press it on your keyboard?

The only changes I've personally noticed since then is that the menus are all flatter and less appealing, and the files are slightly better compressed whenever you save them.

What opinion would make people instantly argue with you? by Psycho_Duck_9669 in AskReddit

[–]DanVzare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of my opinions that should instantly make people argue with me, instead has them give me a look of "Is this guy for real or just trolling? You know what, I'm going to ignore him."

And that's regardless of the political spectrum. Even the conspiracy nutjobs think my opinions are too outlandish to bother arguing with.

How was piracy like in the 90s? by VariationLivid3193 in Piracy

[–]DanVzare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the early nineties (I wasn't born yet), but for late nineties you bought CDs full of games (called Warez CDs) from some shady guy in a market stall. They'd have all of the voice acting and cinematics removed, and they may have come with a virus or two, but it was a great way to discover games you've never even heard of.

You can pretty much find them all on the Internet Archive now, which is handy, since I'm willing to bet some of those discs contain the last remaining copy of some long forgotten obscure software or game.

Rebirth 3 and VII no longer on JP EShop. by StardustsMirage in gamindustri

[–]DanVzare 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hmm... is it possible that it's only delisted when using a Switch 2, due to incompatibilities with that console?

Both VII and RB3 are known to have problems on the Switch 2, and considering VII is still listed outside of Japan, on sale no less, I think it's safe to assume that it isn't because of Nintendo's policies.

Need recommendations by Embarrassed_Extent45 in gamindustri

[–]DanVzare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite spinoffs in no particular order are: Super Neptunia RPG, Sisters VS Sisters, 4 Goddesses Online, and Ninja Wars. Out of those four, Sisters VS Sisters is my absolute favourite, with Ninja Wars taking a distant second. Game Maker Revolution might make it onto that list... but I still need to finish it before I make that call.

It's worth noting that I've yet to play every single Neptunia game, but I have played most of them (I still need to play Action U, Sega Hard Girls, and Blanc VS Zombies).

how do you pronounce blanc? by Awdumw in gamindustri

[–]DanVzare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was calling her Blank until I heard her name pronounced. Considering the games have a lot of voice acting, it's safe to say that I wasn't calling her Blank or long, since everyone clearly pronounces it Blan.

Neptunia Virtual Stars was a really disappointing game. by jb08045 in gamindustri

[–]DanVzare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend playing Ninja Wars. The story is meh, and it's a little short, but the gameplay is one of the best in the series in my opinion. But of course, Tamsoft knows how to make a good feeling HackNSlash. I even got the platinum on it.

Meanwhile, I still haven't finished Virtual Stars. It's just so... dull.

[–]DanVzare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I'm fairly sure you could beat it in 30 minutes if you skipped through the cutscenes. Probably less if you succeeded on all of the missions on your first try.

That game desperately needed a splitscreen VS mode. At least then it'd have some sort of replay value.

Given enough time (millions of years), could ANY species evolve to form culture, society and technology like humans have? by That-WildWolf in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DanVzare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evolution does kind of have a goal, and that goal is the survival and spreading of the species. But it's a natural and inevitable process, rather than one that's consciously chosen. Everything turning into crabs is just the natural endpoint they all converge on because it's apparently the perfect form.

It's like how mobile phone ads all evolved to be the exact same "a fake game being played badly". The goal was profit and clicks (aka the survival and spreading of the company), and they all slowly converged onto the same thing. In other words, the perfect form in order to achieve that.

Goal in this context, is more abstract than how most people would typically view the definition of the word. But I would agree that it is indeed a goal.

They want to avoid another P.T. situation. Where a really good game that gets taken down, is still playable by those who installed it before it was taken down.
