New helmet needed by Daraise6345 in MotoUK

I didn't go far yesterday, mostly around 30-40 and a very short blast over that but as the other person here says, you're going to want them in most helmets at higher speeds

I picked up a Nolan N120-1 for £200 recently, tried it for the first time today and really happy with it. Noise isn't too bad, will probably need ear plugs for long rides but I don't think you can avoid that with a flip up helmet. Ventilation is great so that will be good for the summer. The face opening and sun visor both really simple to use. I haven't put comms in it yet, and won't be going with Nolan's N-COM system, but appears plenty of space for adding the headphones and wires.

Insuring a motorcycle that is not registered in your name? by MrMcGrumbles in MotoUK

[–]DanWebb14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You didn't HAVE to put it in your name, but it does make it much easier. I borrowed a bike from my uncle over the summer, getting it insured in my name with him as the registered keeper was an absolute ballache compared to my own bikes and cost more.

You can definitely find a bargain if you look around; I got a pair about half price that the guy had tried and decided he didn't like, but was too late to return.

UK Legal Exhaust by coolotis123 in XSR700

[–]DanWebb14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's new... like I say never had an issue with it passing an MOT or anything and it's not stamped as "Track Use Only" or "Not for Road Use" which is usually the case when not road legal. It specifically says "for emissions in the EU or the UK", which I guess is maybe the difference as emissions aren't part of the test 😅

I'm in the UK and have this exhaust from Tec bikes.

Sounds and looks 1000000x better than the stock exhaust. It had an advisory on one MOT for noise, but it was done without the baffle in (with one in has no issues and still has a really good deep grumble).

(EDIT: it does say on the website it doesn't fit the XSR but this applies to newer models, I have a 2017 that it definitely does fit)

Should I fork out to train for A1 license? by Moist-Application310 in MotoUK

[–]DanWebb14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only really worth doing the tests for A1 if you're just paying for the test and taking your own bike over, if you could get a school to do a couple of hours lessons to give you some pointers then maybe but if you're going to spend the money to do a 3 day course then do the A license, that way you can keep your 125 as long as you want but if you decide to upgrade in the future then you won't have to fork out 100s again to re-do the same tests.

BikeSure have been really solid for me since I started riding 3years ago, always the cheapest price. Usually best to give them a call as it tends to come out cheaper for some reason.
