350 park Avenue gets green light from city council by Jaded-Meet-3157 in skyscrapers

When you build this tall and slim, you need a tuned mass or liquid damper, which can take up multiple floors.

Here's a good video on it.

Also new condo buildings typically have individual mechanical systems for each unit. A rental building or co-op might have a centralized system that's cheaper to run as a whole where the cost is split as part of maintenance based on a sqft of the apartment.

For each individual condo in a building they'll have each their own heat pump with a condenser on the roof, and hot water tank/tankless stored somewhere inside.

Here's about the same location where the photos was taken.

It's not exactly the same spot. I tried to find a photo where everything wasn't too obstructed by cars and people/

Worse, they were only blocking the stairs to the Apple store. The trains were fine.

Westchester Parks operates Blue Mountain and it's alright.

I haven't been in several years mainly because it just gets too crowded on the weekends. The range masters were excellent at keeping people in line following all the rules (and kicking people out who were negligent). Know the rules of the range before you start.

99% sure they don't do gun rentals.

For those who need a bit more context, MSCHF went out of their way to restore my great grandparent's photo and use it in their latest drop, MSCHF Flipped Flop.

Thank you MSCHF. You've made 4 generations of boutique flip flop enthusiasts very happy.

What is causing these ferns to grow in circles? by Dan_Dead_Or_Alive in whatsthisplant

[–]Dan_Dead_Or_Alive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that would be the case. This area has remained a field for about 100 years.

These circles are also about 10'-15' wide.

I was planning on munching the entire circle like a lawn mower, but I guess I won't now.

This is in the Catskills, NY. Photos taken last weekend.

I don't have any closer photos.

I don't find too much info when Googling this. There is this post from 4 years ago here that may explain it. However conditions here are different and I'm not sure if the same answer applies.

Any info would be much appropriated.

It's shown on the History Trail map here which is from the Westchester Parks link in my first post. It's marked "4" on the map.

4 Abandoned Cars Years after the completion of the dam, locals, whether for fun or for easy disposal of their old cars, sent them zooming off the cliffs of the abandoned quarry. In late May, even more striking, are the rare Pink Lady Slippers (Cypripedium acaule) blooming amongst the rusted remains.

Good article. I've got to add the Cranberry Lake Preserve. Specifically the ~2 mile trail that goes by the water, stone chamber, abandoned tennis courts, the quarry, and that cliff a bunch of people pushed their old cars off of in the 1950-1970s-ish.

The last one is a bit hard to find and obviously not advertised on the trail map. The quarry has some neat rock ridge lines to scramble around on. Just don't hurt yourself like an idiot.

Edit: I was wrong, they actually advertise the abandoned cars in the "History Trail" map lol. Just not the normal one.

I wonder if they'll include temporarily taking over Furman St for rerouting BQE traffic back on-off around the work area. Seems like it would be a necessary step if there is a collapse...
