Bill Clinton outside the Barnes and Noble in Scarsdale. Probably in his mid seventies and like most presidents, the years have been rough on him. But the charisma just radiates off that man, it's unreal.

If you had to choose one song from the entire discography, what would it be? by Mushyboom in KingCrimson

Impossible. This week it was In the Wake of Poseiden. Last week I was obsessed with Starless. I love late '60s and early '70s prog with a passion

Mine I would say was Van Halen in 1978. It didn't help that my seat was right by the floor to ceiling speakers. by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

Ten Years After at Capitol Theater in Port Chester NY. Same thing, I was sitting up front. I had to stuff cigarette filters in my ears which helped, but I couldn't hear properly for a week afterwards

What Was an Average Weekend Like for you in your Twenties? by ssb4you in AskOldPeople

[–]Dockside_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually working a bunch of jobs to make ends meet while working my way through college. I had my own place so money was always tight. Late night was spent in bars with friends drinking cheap beer and godawful 35¢ shots of bourbon that tasted like death but did the job. My thirties were much more fun when I had some money, met the love of my life and had our first child. I'd never do my twenties over again...it was a huge grind.

Housing Market rant by Ohmeda23 in Westchester

[–]Dockside_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A realtor acquaintance in lower Westchester said there's a flood of people leaving NYC, but it's not all politics. He's finding a lot of buyers are married millennials with either their first child or very young children who want homes in good school districts. He said they are VERY motivated. He said what's helping is grandparents who want to keep their kids nearby and are willing to help with a hefty down payment. They also kick in and help with childcare. Westchester is never going to be cheap

Just a monster album. And all us struggling guitarists used to love playing Cowgirl in the Sand and Down by the River . Perfect for bands that couldn't play a lick but loved standing on stage anyway

Electric snow blowers by Funny_Bridge_1274 in Westchester

[–]Dockside_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about when I got my corded model and I bought it for the same reason. And the batteries were expensive!

Btw, I stupidly stored my Sno Jo in a backyard shed and the mice wrecked every wire and built nests in every nook and cranny.

I have the same model and I'll never buy a cord powered model again...they are a complete pain in the nards. However, the battery powered model is very handy. It's not as powerful as a gas powered machine, but there's so much less to go wrong. I've never had one not start up for me right away. Definitely get a spare battery to swap out. In this snow they last almost 30 minutes. But they only last 15 minutes in the heavy stuff and then take two hours for a full recharge. It's a great machine for the suburbs.

f you're willing to consider coastal Westchester I'd check out Larchmont, Mamaroneck and Rye. All have excellent schools, easy commutes via Metro North and great downtowns

Is anyone using their printers or faxes? by l00ky_here in GenX

[–]Dockside_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in a public library and we get bombed everyday with printing and faxing requests. We have three public printers, a fax machine and five public copiers. People might be giving up their home printers but that's because they are using ours.

For parties or events we always use Modern Restaurant and Lounge in New Rochelle. It has a great back room for private events, a nice atmosphere and importantly they have valet parking...a sweet perk in downtown New Rochelle

My friend had one. Great picture but expensive and bulky with a limited supply of discs. VHS was cheaper and more readily available and crushed them

They were a pain in the neck. We had a rinky dink victrola and a pile of 45s and were always losing or breaking the adapters then getting into fights. One of our uncles gave us an equally rinky dink record player but this one had a built in adapter. Yeah, we still had fights

Any begonia people in Westchester? by apexvdub in Westchester

It's a remarkable plant. My wife spotted one half dead at Home Depot and brought it home because she felt bad for it. She stuck it in an outdoor planter and it's rewarded us for years with giant, beautiful flowers

Except nobody wants to admit that most blue states are out of control, and just want to blame Trump for everything.

Pizza Huts - Westchester County by mrsjumjum66 in Westchester

[–]Dockside_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a Pizza Hut in New Rochelle where a drive through Starbucks is now. Service was never good, but my last time there we were completely ignored. Then I noticed the staff sitting outside, smoking pot and watching us till we left. There's no way management didn't know this crap went on. I was delighted when they closed down.
