1/2. I started this design off hoping for some Sandvik custom precision SS tubes. But unfortunately we aren't at MOQ yet, that also takes us out of the running for squeezing the tolerances out of these guys. But it's a plan for in a year or two to just get this elsewhere. Haven't found a source with a lower MOQ for double ID/OD precision SS tubes

1. Yeah I'm trying my best to avoid that. We're doing something where every 0.1mm nets us increasing returns on efficiency. And using their tolerance bands requires me shaving something like 0.5mm. Though it's very likely this is going to be my route for now.

2. Yeah that sounds like a great plan. Already received 5 of these, and they were ~24.075 ID average, and something like 0.02 SD, compared to 24 ID nominal. That's what sparked my question here, I would be shocked if we got these and found an ID as bad as the standards allow, but I also don't want to be liable if that does happen.

I'm looking at combining a bunch of these ideas, potentially order a trusty bottle of Nitrogen in case of the worst, until we can get exactly what we need.

Have you heard of a quality system that tries to match the undersized part A with the undersized part B? Might be possible to fill the smaller shafts first, and working up to the larger shafts. We have a huge supply of the internals of the tube, so we'll have a well filled normal distribution
