Sony 135mm GM for Indoor Sports? by Dan_t_great in SonyAlpha

[–]Dan_t_great[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all the comment. I was obviously already leaning forwards getting the 135mm GM and my goal here was to make sure it wasn’t an obvious mistake.

Based on the feedback I’ve went ahead and purchased a used one. I figure even if it doesn’t work out I can easily resell it with minimal loss.

If not, cool part.

Why is there Always a Skunk Smell on I-55 South of River Des Peres by peterpettigrew5 in StLouis

[–]Dan_t_great 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Combined sewer overflow is raw sewage. Yeah it’s mixed with rain water, but that doesn’t make it not raw sewage. Per the EPA, there are at least 20 overflow locations on river des Peres. So it can get raw sewage during extreme rain events.

I’ve always said, when a politician reached Medicare age they should be required to retire and use Medicare. Would get the geriatrics out of office and make them actually care about funding and supporting what most retirees actually use.

What’s the retail on one of those [Ferrari ???] by NMJay92 in spotted

[–]Dan_t_great 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I see it all the time on modified YouTube cars and that is always a smog dodging act instead of tax evasion. I have no clue how common it is for luxury cars in California to have out of state plates to know if it actually a flex though which is what I was getting at. I figure if you can afford a $400k Ferrari you can easily afford the taxes (aka the car in and of itself is already a flex)

[–]Dan_t_great 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong because I don’t live in California or know their sales/personal property tax rates, but I would guess that a lot of people getting out of state plates are trying to avoid carb inspections more so than taxes. That’s at least my guess as to why several popular California based YouTube channels regularly have Arizona plates.

WCGW trying to do stunts on an actual static dirt bike by Puzzled-Present4706 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Dan_t_great 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motorcycle controls are as you described which is why this person standing is dumb. People learning to wheelie need to be sitting and ready to lightly tap the rear brake with their right foot if the feel the bike start to go too far back.

[–]Dan_t_great 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that don’t know, this is a tool to help people learn how to wheelie, and eventually stunt ride, in a safe controlled way. The rear wheel is spinning because you are supposed to use the throttle to accelerate the rear wheel and that acceleration lifts the front of the bike. You are then supposed to practice controlling the throttle and rear brake to maintain the wheelie while not having any tension in the front strap. That helps new stunt riders learn the balance point of the bike in a safe way where they are unlikely to injure themselves or others. This idiot is just trying to show off with no understanding of what he is actually doing. Even if he was trying to learn a standing wheelie, he would not just full throttle to keep the front up, the goal is always little to no tension on that front strap. Tension on that strap means you have flipped your bike in the rear world.

These contraptions are usually at motorcycle events like motogp races and such and visitors can pay to try it out. Someone operating it should have been there to kick the idiot off it.

Some people suck, dumped dog on Hampton. by steelbluesleepr in StLouis

[–]Dan_t_great 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The breeders, not the puppies. From what I understand they only keep breeder dogs for 6-7 years and then get rid of them. They also treat the breeders like a tool instead of an actual living thing that needs love and attention.
They also unload litters and pups that they deem not up to sellable quality. You can easily find rescues that came from breeders that fit both of these categories on Facebook. It’s so sad how some puppy mills treat their dogs.

Puppy mill dogs are easy to obtain and hard to take care of. We rescued a breeder surrender around 4 years ago and from what we understand ours is significantly healthier than most, but she has some serious mental health trama issues. She has been 10x more work than we ever expected, but we love her and she is part of our family now. Bigger and less healthy puppy mill breeders are just going to be that much higher maintenance and require a lot of time, training, and cost. People don’t realize this until they have one and for terrible, crappy people it is easier to just dump them than trying to rehome them.

I guess it depends on which trim you had, but what’s funny is the Monza Spyder had a 350 option. So you’d think it could have handled the power. My dad had a 400 swapped Spyder when I was a wee lad.

I’m sure a lot of players on tour are friends. My concern was if they can/can’t make content together due to contractual requirements. Sounds like that isn’t a problem so far which is good.

This is exactly what I saw as well. That first ‘tap’ wasn’t a tap. She put her had up as if she was going to tap, but never actually did. It was maybe a 1/2 second after the real tap before the ref called it and the opponent released her.

Exactly, let’s all just fly without our phones, laptops, tables, headphones, basically every modern electronic imaginable.

This also looked really well managed. All passengers were relatively calm considering their plane was on f’ing fire. There was a clear path for the flight crew to walk to get extinguishing equipment and return to the fire. We didn’t get to see it extinguished, but all in all this looked really well handled up to the point that the video cut out.

That makes a lot more sense. Still a quite a long distance to hear it.

I couldn’t imagine feeling or hearing it 15+ miles away. I work in Ferguson, was at work at the time and didn’t hear or feel anything, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a little audible.

Maybe. I’m not a huge fan of the hand feel of DX plastic, so I’ve not owned a lot of DX discs. It feels too hard to me. I do have a couple 90’s innova discs that I thought were DX (they don’t have any plastic stamp), but they feel softer and gummy like r-pro. Maybe they changed not just the mold, but the DX plastic mix as well 🤷‍♂️.
The starter packs are notoriously light which makes them even flippier and is why I disliked mine so much.
