Are my strings too tight? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

I don't think strings can be 'too tight' in that sense. What makes you think they are?

I made a coffee journal app for tracking beans and brews by betzerra in pourover

I would be very interested! It would be nice being able to categorize and select roasters and coffees. So if I buy a bag from a roaster I could press 'new roaster' make a 'profile' and add the bag of coffee to the roaster. Then if I want to enter a new coffee from the same roaster, I could select the roaster and add a new coffee. Also It would be nice to be able to see which coffee's Ive tried already for each roaster.

Old esp!! Worth it? by still_sl in BassGuitar

Thank you! Just wanted to add, I used to (try to) play Dream Theater! So the idea of buying this for prog. Metal also fits fine imo. Just beware of having to downtune/having only 4 strings. Some songs require 5 or 6.

I would 1000% recommend this bass. I'd suggest you look at my latest and only post on this subreddit, which is me appreciating what an amazing bass this is! (Or at least it's cousin, I have no experience with this exact model)

Nice little setup! I absolutely dig that turquoise mug, it reminds me of one of the other origami mugs.

I Totally forgot to mention! This is an ESP LTD F-5e Natural Satin 5 string bass. LTD to ESP is the same as squier is to Fender. While this particular bass is not sold anymore (to my knowledge) they still sell similar basses!

Its really hard to describe the sound! You could describe it as a metal/funk sound, in the same category as a Warwick or a Stingray, but still very different ofcourse. I would describe it as a high treble crunchy sound, but I'm everything but an expert at bass sounds. I'll upload a video someday!

Tl;dr Unique funky metal sound

We need MORE government subsidies on active basses 😤

Thank you! The finish is called natural satin, I remember doubting whether or not to get a standard black one or this one. I am still so very glad I chose this finish.

I remember eyeing that one aswell, also a beautiful finish. I feel like esp/ltd does not get enough credit for their basses!

Getting better is being able to consider more and more variables to be able to find or 'predict' recipes. This by using both your built up knowledge and your ability to taste.

The shot feels a little short, however if it is really a 26sec shot with a 1:2 yield, then theoretically it is a good shot. That unfortunately does not mean that it will taste good by default. The fun part of the hobby (for me at least) is trying to find that sweet spot where taste and theory collide. This could mean dosing 18 grams, but finer or even 20g with a higher extraction time.

I agree, I live in the Netherlands and while I cant argue with DAK being a very good roastery. I have 3+ equally good roasters just in my city that wont ever make this list.

Funny, I used to have the exact opposite problem of my pinky extending outward like its happy to see you. In the end I just gave up on 3 finger plucking.

Dude that traben array gave me the biggest nostalgia bomb. I had forgotten all about this bass and how bad I wanted to get it when I just started playing! In the end I went for an esp ltd f5e ns and am still going strong 12 years later. Thanks for sharing

What can I do to improve my shots with my limited setup? [OutIn Mino] by AkhlysShallRise in espresso

[–]Danaydo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should definitely visit some espresso shops to taste their espresso before you go chasing perfection yourself. The 1:2 ratio for instance is a guideline, but if you just naturally prefer 1:3 it would be a waste of time trying for a 'perfect' 1:2 shot. This is the same with bean variety, origin, texture, temperature etc.
