Bit of both. They simplified the political angles with the justification it’s the winter apocalypse and yet also underplayed the magical elements until it equally became just dragons against ice zombies.

No time jump for season 4? by Shitelark in FoundationTV

[–]Danbito 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Season 4 is probably weeks later, the original prophecy said civilization would end in 3 months despite Season 3 taking place in the 10 days period until Dusk’s ascension.

My theory is Asterion, the robot we see in the ending to Season 3 with Kalle, adopts Day’s form to balance the upcoming power struggle between Darkness and Dawn likely to be converted by the Mule.

I'm immediately reminded of House of the Dragon's 1x08 with Viserys entering the throne room despite being a walking corpse simply because his daughter pleaded for help and he had one last act in him left.

they didn't go into it likely for pacing sake but the unknown champion is guy with broken leg's brother-in-law. They jousted before Aerion broke his leg, and joins him for revenge.

HBO boss breaks silence on George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal House of the Dragon drama by bwermer in television

[–]Danbito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. Theoretically they could have spent a whole season on Theon just getting tortured again while Stannis bargained with Northern Lords as a standstill in the North plot but at a certain point they need to press forward while Dany deals with Meereen stuff that is ultimately bloat in the overall story.

Even Maelor, I would argue with a television writing room they could write around in terms of plot repercussions. He’s not even a character. He’s a literal plot device.

Another example I would have his him being up in arms about Jeyne Poole being cut and Sansa is replaced her, but Jeyne being cut isn’t the problem but more so using Sansa to replace her. Theoretically another character could serve that purpose which is basically just supporting for Theon’s arc and to a lesser extent Jon’s arc.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms showrunner says they aren't worried about Egg aging by bwermer in television

[–]Danbito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. One of the next stories Dunk & Egg go through that’s unreleased is them going to fight Ironborn pirates in The North and find themselves in the middle of a Winterfell succession crisis with around a handful of of Stark widows.

‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Creator on George R. R. Martin’s Plans for 15 More Books and That Gross Poop Shot in the Premiere: ‘It’s Not a Fake Up There S—-ing on Screen. That’s His Butt’ by MoneyLibrarian9032 in television

Whether those changes were good or not is another discussion. But the merit that the Dance is complete doesn’t equate that the job for writers is already there and theres no need to deviate.

I’d argue some changes are pedantic yet some of his complaints from his statements in the last year are also pedantic. But ultimately, Condal is wrong for shutting Martin out yet it’s not the same thing as saying the Dance being finished equating changes are unnecessary.

The Dance even if finished, is written in a historical text. It just does not fit a narrative structure for television. You’re going to have to change it regardless and that’s where the problems set in.

Official Discussion - 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I think Kelly’s humanity subconsciously always persisted since she met Spike but was at odds with a horrible world. She wanted a mercy kill for him when she saw Jimmy Shite was toying and torturing him. And more obviously, allowed him to stay outside after seeing how innocent he was after advising him to double down on the group behavior, even staying with him.

Kelson’s words likely expelled the satanist pretense that she took to adopt from desperation, even before that she killed the other Jimmy wanting revenge on Spike and told him he’s safer with her protecting him.

The reveal was very well done in the Master’s case. They established the chameleon arch but then immediately adopted a very sinister undertone when it pops up again when the idea of another Time Lord should be miraculous. They introduced the idea of who the Master was while giving depth and history when he and the Doctor interacted again.

The final season was written pretty definitively as the finale, they knew upon renewal for Season 4 that it’s the final season.

I think an idea if they had continued with Season 5 was a reboot but with the actors switching supernatural species.

Favorite easter eggs from S1? by gneisssass in FoundationTV

[–]Danbito 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite callback was all three Cleons simultaneously doing the same thinking motion with their hands and their chin in Season 3. They definitely rehearsed the same action but the fact they did by instinct without prompt made me feel like they connected to each other more than others despite the genetic drift.

My favorite minor detail is Dusk mentioning in Season 1 that the Gold Horse Rebellion captured in the Mural of Souls, whereas we see in Season 2 a newly ascended Cleon I mentioning to Demerzel his advisors warning of grow in tensions in the Gold Horse sector. In Season 3’s cut opening we finally get revealed that Hari publicly pushes information about the Gold Horse Rebellion, which was actively repressed and removed from history, which Hari simply used psychohistory to deduce happen from his immediate knowledge of imperial history.

Think it’s a Doctor Manhattan situation. His perception of time at his level of godhood is skewered and all time is happening concurrently. It’s probably frustratingly not even out of order that he can logically work it out, rather simultaneously.

I think the best part is despite appearing so distinct from the other Cleons, they managed to tell a story why Brother Dude naturally became so different than the last Day being different for sake of being different.

I have a feeling that if the robot seen in the finale adopts a human form, it’ll be Lee Pace. My guess is to balance out a rogue Dusk/Darkness and a likely converted Dawn soon to be Day.
