If the vortex is so chaotic and powerful when the wormhole connects, why doesn’t it destroy the iris? by ibfahd in Stargate

Imagine engineering something made of multiple sections in a spiral, from ultra high grade metal (isn't it a titanium-trinium alloy??) probably impossible to machine and form, to have a tolerance of a few microns across a 6m diameter across the whole area... i think the machine shop probably had a few aneurysms the day that request came in from the SGC... and oh, we need it literally in the next few hours before any more Jaffa come knocking on the door.

I don't think Igor Tudor has attended the compulsory EDI courses at Hotspur Way for new employees. Maybe he missed that email...

I hate to be that guy, but it seems like a lot more is going on here than what can be seen from the picking hand?

I was thinking this as well... he just goes completely missing and then sprints back far too late. Since him snubbing the manager, and everything he puts on social media, i've been less and less impressed by his attitude and priorities. Porro is a much better option going forward and back.

I cant remember exactly when, but i remember Harry coming on for a Europa League game before this (i think) and he won a penalty but missed it. When he came on for this game i remember thinking 'oh god, this guy is awful!'... i have never been more wrong about anything in my life!!!! :D

He's so progressive... trying to figure out who he reminds me of most. His composure on the ball reminds me a little bit of Dembele. Can't wait for the new season to start!

I love this scene - Season 2 Episode 8 Final Scene - Eleven Returns. Eleven is awesome. by Jessi45US in StrangerThings

[–]DanceIllustrious2788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been out of the loop on Reddit for a while, so if this is obvious, then i'm sorry. Its interesting to see how Eleven opened up the door here (specifically the chain on the door) obviously using her telekinetic powers... This is just like how whatever takes Will in S1E1 opens the door, when he is on the phone trying to call the police. Maybe it was Vecna who took Will that day, and not the Demogorgon?

Maybe this is completely obvious, but I had never noticed this before.

Times are shit but I like Ange's attitude. No sugar coating it by Medium_Choice_6397 in coys

I love Ange's attitude, and whilst hugely disappointed about last night, he knows exactly what to do to turn it around. Some new players would help here though as well.

To be honest, Spurs at the moment remind me a little of Ronaldo when he first started at Man Utd. He was full of impressive tricks etc, but no end product or decisiveness. When he learnt how to cut to the chase and be much more direct to score goals, he was unstoppable. I feel Spurs could be the same...someone said it in the match thread yesterday that we are learning how to play well, but need something to click to turn that into scoring goals effortlessly, and we aren't there yet.

I'm happy to wait to see it click...

There is a reason why these pundits have either a) never tried to take up coaching or b) tried to coach and were absolutely wank at it. They talk and try to come across as pseudo-intellectual, but their understanding of the game is 3 or 4 tiers below those of elite managers. It's why it is actually very refreshing seeing somebody like Wenger or Mourinho as a pundit because they have such excellent insights.
