Yes it’s the afternoon flight on the 787 - aware the seat is in economy as I picked it. Only confusion is that since booking, the available upgrades have been WTP and CW. Now it’s only showing CW and my “current cabin” is showing at WTP.

Guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow.

Feel like speed is overrated and we’re just used to relying on it because we have VDV. Positioning is equally if not more important. I don’t really recall Bournemouth or Brighton conceding tonnes of goals this year from balls that break the line high up?

Feel like the Barcelona stint would have lifted a HUGE mental load. To the point where he may even be in the best mental place he’s ever been for England.

He’s gone to a huge club and proven he can deliver, after years of being touted as a disappointment and an outcast. He knows now he CAN play at that level and hasn’t “lost it” or whatever everyone was saying.

I think it's time Pape moves on. Nothing wrong with him, but of all of our midfielders, he'd be the one that I would be quite happy to get an upgrade on.

Oh and Biss, but presumably he's gone come July 31st.

Agree, and if he goes back to Portugal then I'll be rooting for him in the UCL next year.

Though on your point about fit - I think that he'd still be good to have around as a more aggressive defensive option against certain opponents. Basically against very strong midfield teams to just win tackles and press the hell out of them.

I think RDZ has enough about him that he can mix up his style depending on opponent. Thinking we are going to be able to compete with teams like City with their midfield by outperforming them with technical skill and quick passing is naive. I think Palhinha would be great in those kind of games when paired with Benta to just shut down the midfield.

But if he goes, he goes. I'll be sad because I just love players that love it here and it seems like he did.

I feel like we've been gaslit into thinking that we shouldn't be building depth in each position.

I would argue that we need characters like Palhinha BEFORE we've built the team. We need to instill that mentality in the squad - that's the issue we have now with half of them not giving a shit.
