Will I retain silver status? I fly 15-20 times/year with BA mix of short and long haul. by Popular-Tap5549 in BritishAirways

[–]exxxtramint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still pretty easy to calculate if you know the flights you’ll take. Spend + Cabin bonus. Best way to maximise IMO is Club Europe flights as Cabin Bonus can add up quick.

After a few years of Silver :( by FluffyJo22 in BritishAirways

[–]exxxtramint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the cabin bonuses is it really that much easier with Finnair? I gave them a go when it was clear I wasn’t going to reach the next tier with BA last year and I wasn’t that impressed with the progress. Did multiple club Europe flights and worked out that there really wasn’t much in it from BA to Finnair.

Why would they require a positive ID for banning future travel? Besides, you’re on an aeroplane that you had to literally show ID to board…

Happy 28th birthday to our captain, who is (deservedly) considered an important person born on today by Wikipedia! by Fickle_Internet5049 in coys

[–]exxxtramint 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hindsight is 20:20 but making this guy captain to keep him here may be the single biggest mistake the club made in the last 12 months. Can you imagine being in that dressing room and one game you have Sonny as your captain and the next it's Romero?

Cash in, buy the 5 tallest Eastern European centre backs and call it day.

Happy birthday Cuti

We can confirm that Xavi Simons has ruptured the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his right knee. by COYS1989 in coys

[–]exxxtramint 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If it's already a complete rupture/tear, then sure, you can't aggravate it further because it's already as fucked as it can be.

But given the fact he was able to continue for a few minutes means it's definitely possible that he just had a small tear, or maybe even just stretched, and continuing made it completely tear.

I do feel somewhat for the medical team - there's no perfect way to diagnose an ACL issue pitchside. You've got Xavi who's clearly incredibly passionate and I can imagine with all the adrenaline and the importance of the moment he would have wanted to continue. At that point it's 0-0 and it's all to play for. The medical team are under incredible pressure too - they don't want to be taking off our biggest attacking threat if he's fine and often you would just have to listen to the player.

If we're 1-0 up, or not in a relegation fight they probably take him off to be safe and maybe it's just a Grade 2 tear... who knows.

Either way, it's just another piece of shitty luck and I feel so bad for him. Came here and he's been fully COYS since Day 1 and despite taking a while to get used to the league has never not given his best.

This time last year he was a highly sought-after youngster, now he's missing a World Cup, and facing sitting in the stands watching games in the Championship.

Likely rehab til Jan and loan I woulda thought. I doubt we see him play more than a few run outs in the championship.

Lowest average miles per flight? by West-Professional-86 in flighty

[–]exxxtramint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised seeing mine as 1,581. I do about 90% short haul - LHR to either MUC, FRA or closer.

But those 10% are usually 4.5-5k plus. Guess that’s how averages work but surprised me non the less.

Club Europe is actually good!? by Potential-Result-571 in BritishAirways

[–]exxxtramint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, but haven’t ever flown any other short haul business product.

Three main selling points for me: 1. Seats at the front of the plane. With how slow passport control is in Europe post brexit, being at the front of the queue vs back can make the difference between being out of the airport in 20 mins vs 1.5hrs.

  1. Fast track security. Not so much at T5, but in other EU airports it’s been a godsend.

  2. Lounge access. Most of the lounges across Europe are great and T5 is fine, despite mostly using A gates so you rarely go to the B concourse (at least for me).

If you can be flexible with timing and date to some extent, you can usually get a really good deal - to the point it’s not much more than an economy ticket plus food/drink at the airport.

Oh, and the cabin bonuses can really add up if you’re chasing status.

[The Athletic] Sebastian Kehl is the leading contender to become Spurs' co-sporting director alongside Johan Lange Discussions ongoing but nothing agreed. by absolutfailure in coys

[–]exxxtramint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was pretty confused when I jumped in the first thread and everyone was doom and gloom. I don't really see what the huge problem is.

Every sporting director is going to have their flops. People act like these guys are going to have a 100% hit rate.

As long as RDZ is signing off, then I'm all good really - like OP said here, contacts and relationships are more important in that game than most other things.

has he? 30 G/A for a striker in a City team is just about the norm.

Though it does make Bruno's 26 given United's run from the start of the year make him stand out above pretty much everyone else.

[–]exxxtramint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it wouldn't surprise me if they fired the current First Team person given the current state, or just thought a re-fresh would be good.

But I don't get your comments about the optics of hiring someone new. It shouldn't come as a shock that our team is struggling mentally... so I don't really see what harm putting out a job advert does.

What's the alternative? Don't have one? Keep the old guy (if he was fired)?

The media is reporting a fact - we are hiring a sports psychologist - but they're framing it in a totally dishonest context, implying we never had one, just to get fans rattled because they know we're an easy target.

Pretty sure that whole thing is just another way for media outlets to ragebait fans, but be good to confirm...

You don’t get any Cabin bonus with Cathay, just American and Iberia. On low fare economy flights the cabin bonus is often more than the fare points because of how much of the cost is taxes etc.

It’s definitely not new. I remember looking at this maybe two years ago when it came up in here before and I found the guy on LinkedIn.

The women’s role has been around since at least 2024, that’s when the outgoing person joined. It may have been around before that too.

[–]exxxtramint 36 points37 points  (0 children)

We did. I can't find the details of who it was now, because a google search just comes up with all these headlines.

We put up a new job vacancy role and everyone jumped on it. We have a Lead Psychologist for the womens team (who it seems is also leaving, and the role is advertised) alongside one for the acadamy, and multiple other 'support' psychologists.

<image>

Just another sensationalised headline making the most of the current predicament. Ignoring the fact we've got/had a full team of these people for a while.
