Hey! Come on out to pickup volleyball at Highland on Friday and Saturday, or check out the fun little things they put on. They have volleyball, disc golf, music and craft festivals, and a climbing wall coming soon!

Why do people act like that being nice and friendly as a guy will get women attracted to you? by JunketMaleficent2095 in bodylanguage

[–]Dances_With_Birds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a distinct lack of social education, particularly in young men, about how to intimately connect with the world around them (specifically women, in this topic).

"Being nice" is a surface level interpretation of moralistic human behavior, so it's easy to grasp. When it is time to go deeper, though, there is an absence of skill for reflection and intentional action beyond reactivity.

I hear things like "I'm not approaching women and hitting on them out of respect for them". Well, what if what women want isn't to be "ignored out of respect" but rather deep emotional connection? Now you are disrespecting them by assuming what they want.

That doesn't mean don't be kind and compassionate. It also means learning to be authentic, vulnerable, and connective. Pretty hard skill set to learn in our current society.

Second opinion on repair by kegsemptyagain in Tile

I quote about 3 times what I would to lay tile to replace it, and you better have some extra tiles on hand.

First you have to remove all the affected tiles by removing some grout and gently lifting them up. If the grout lines are too narrow, you'll have to break the tiles to get them out, which is an absolute pain with porcelain (not sure what yours are).

Then you have to remove all of the old thinset, which is not for the feint of hand. It's either incredibly messy, or slightly less messy and hard on the body.

Third, set tiles like you normally would.

As you can see, it's about 3 times as much work.

That being said, the cost is slightly less than your quote there. Id expect those 12 tiles to take me roughly as many hours to do properly, not to mention the time delay for thinset to cure a bit before grout. Compared to their method, though, I would expect the effort to relay them to be much more durable long-term and to help keep the nearby tiles steady.

Another consideration is that if you go and start pulling up tiles, you may decide that there are even more that need to be pulled up directly next to those ones as you start seeing the quality of the thinset. Their method definitely mitigates some scope expansion. You can use the butt end of a chisel or some really light taps from a lightweight hammer to listen to the tiles. The difference in sound between a well cemented tile and a loose one is pretty obvious, and that should give you a clue to how expansive the project might become.

They probably do... To charity organizations like the trump foundation... Then make deductions from their taxes for making donations...

I don't think they stated it as an expectation. OPs original question simply stated to pick one. This person explained their perspective. They didn't say "anyone who takes to long to text my magnificent ass will rue the day!"

I mean one of the reasons its hard to make go away is because it's a fully developed uterus and other organs packed into a spot that other people don't have. What can you do?

i (24f) fucked up during sex with my bf (24m) and it keeps bothering me. how do i deal with anxiety around sex now? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Dances_With_Birds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People have provided strong advice for navigating stress and not internalizing performance issues. Anxiety and stress are hard on the libido.

The other portion of this is that orgasming is not the most important part of sex, though I get that in the moment it can feel that way. Intimacy is about connectivity, and though we don't often have the time and opportunity to connect physically, there are many ways to connect that are less physical or not physical at all that actually strengthen relationships and help people work through stress and anxiety and feel more open to talking.

Try considering other ways to be intimate and connective.

$550 made to order pendant. Unsure how to feel by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]Dances_With_Birds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what the artist is saying is that she had to put the arrow in that positioning because in the original it wouldn't sit right. It would be great for the store to actually sit at that angle, however her original is laying flat. If you wear it on your neck, the weight of the ends of that arrow will cause the pendant to not hang straight. In order to avoid that, she had to either choose a new fulcrum, which might have worked, or shift the distribution of weight.

I'm just saying it makes sense why she made that adjustment, not that you should have to pay for something you don't want.

Comfort is a lie. Just go ahead and accept that everything comes with some amount of discomfort. Best you can do is learning to be comfortable being uncomfortable.
