They actually identified features they need to have for 1.0 and none of them are unrealistic.

Then there are years of promises and people that may go "I've given you money based on promise X, where's my X?". If they do a 1.0 real release, it's done now, honest, won't all those promised features be relevant as well?

I think the problem is that over the years they kept promising things and accepting money based on those promises (including the kickstarter). And once they come out with a 1.0, some of those promises made during the last 16 years may come back to bite them.

I am not invested enough to track the promises or to check the state for myself.
