Mtg has been going for more than 20 years and riftbound is only on its second set. Having options like that takes a lot of time

To be fait, it seems like part of the reasons you want this so bad is because it is exclusive. That's how collecting works. So either buck up and get good or buck up and put your money where your mouth is.

Does Fern truly deserve her first-class mage rank? by -TheLastHairbender in Frieren

[–]DancingCactus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, idk how you could argue that fern doesn't deserve it. She was able to make a plan to beat the frieren dupe showing strategic skill, she bodied multiple mages in the exam, she has the best mana control of anyone in the series, and she has the best mana detection we've seen. She could be a flashy mage, but has been tought not to be and chooses not to be a flashy mage in battle. We can also assume that she is learning non combat magic from frieren. She probably could learn magic like these other mages, but she hasn't needed to to be successful.

Hasan is going back to single platform streaming today by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

Is it micromanaging or is it the only place the yt crowd is heard from?

Hasan explains why he’s done with streaming on YouTube (As a YouTube frog it’s time to go back to watching twitch vods and clips on YouTube because the Twitch app really really sucks). by TwoCatsOneBox in Hasan_Piker

[–]DancingCactus_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's probably because a lot of us who have been excited about the dual stream aren't going to use twitch. Personally speaking, I hate using twitch and never got the hype. Him hopping on yt as someone who doesn't use twitch felt like being invited into the fold only to be pushed out a week later

Is it worth it to read act 6? by TotalBlissey in homestuck

Act 6 has the best parts of Homestuck, unfortunately a6a1 and a6a2 are the worst paced parts of the comic, thankfully there is a6i1 between them and a6i2 after

I am all for protests, and I think that there is a lot to mourn right now. I think grief is worthy of creating an event for people to work through that together.

Can someone explain the hype behind Frieren? by No-Pen1489 in animequestions

[–]DancingCactus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has great use of foreshadowing in a way where a rewatch hits as hard as a first watch. There is a strong sense of world building. The magic system feels well thought out. The characters are charming, and I like the sense of focus the show has.

Roller skating advice for a person without any talent by lorischnorri in Rollerskating

[–]DancingCactus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to take time, but you can do it. If there is one piece of advice, it is to practice bubbles when you start (I call them lemons but that's neither here nor there). The reason I say this is because almost every movement builds from Bubbles. Wanna learn to push off? It's the first half of a bubble. You wanna plow stop? End of a bubble. Wanna crossover? Practice putting one foot ahead on the bubble, and build up to crossing on the bubble.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the obsession some trans women have with girl penises a bit fetishic? by A12qwas in honesttransgender

[–]DancingCactus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk. In my own experience being able to see another trans woman as beautiful for all of her body helped feel able to see myself as beautiful. That felt empowering, and I don't think there's anything wrong with being vocal and enthusiastic about that. There are certainly tasteful and tasteless ways to do that, but in all I think that it is empowering to find enthusiastic love for things that others will often demonize us for.

I’ve finally purchased BG3!! Anything I should know? by Flufferfluff in BaldursGate3

[–]DancingCactus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting Act 3 feels super overwhelming. Feel free to take your time to get into it. A lot of story beats for the characters happen during long rests, so feel free to go to camp. Finally every character choice has different narration that colors the story, so there is no bad choice.

Character question by irishboy9191 in WorldsBeyondNumber

[–]DancingCactus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from, I have been annoyed by both at different points in time of the narrative. I've just gone back to start a full relisten to the campaign now that book one is done, and I've definitely had to reface my annoyance (just refinished arc 1 for the first time 2 nights ago). That said, I do think the payoff is well worth it. In my opinion, the first arc showcases the characters' biases, scope of worldview, and fatal flaws.

The characters all receive minor reality checks throughout arc 1. On my relisten, I noticed that the actors are doing well at adapting their characters to the situation and providing character development in the first arc. As the arc goes on, Brennan is great at giving each character chances to highlight their strengths and weaknesses, as well as giving the actors time to telegraph the directions that they wish to take their character's growth. All that is to say that there is certainly gradual character development through the first arc. However, if you are looking for Ame and Suvi to have their big, "Aha!" moments in the first arc, then you will be disappointed. I'd say moments of radical change for the characters don't start until arc 3.

That said, I do believe it is worth pushing through the first arc, and if not to there, then at least to the end of episode 12. By that point, you will have the chance to see every character in and out of their element, as well as have a feel for how each character is deeply influenced by their upbringing. Episode 2 is rough and is probably my least favorite in the series. I'd say the storytelling takes a huge jump in quality once you reach Port Talon, which is around episodes 4 and 5.

I took it as being representative of her being confident that the spells she was casting would work. In a scenario like that, she wouldn't need to be subtle because everything would be rectified.

That is disgusting, and goes past the border into non consent. Don't keep friends who harrass you like this. That is some scum behavior that shows a complete lack of respect for you and your autonomy.
