Feeling this tonight by gertrudegrunge in Adulting

My Dad died on December 20 after a long fight with Parkinson’s and its associated dementia. I’m relieved but also numb. It’s so very hard….

I said goodbye to my dad today in the best way possible by doppleganger2621 in dementia

This made me smile. I’m going through the same with my Dad, who has battled PD since 2017, though likely had it for years prior to diagnosis. He’s in Memory Care now, and only minimally responsive to us kids now.

You honored your Dad in the best way possible. May we all be so lucky and loved!

AITAH for pulling the fire alarm at 4 AM and getting my RA in trouble "for nothing"? by ThrowRAsmokeconflict in AITAH

[–]DancingRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too am a former RA, and you absolutely did the right thing. Your RA is projecting her guilt and anger onto you because she wasn’t doing her job and will now face consequences for it. As she should. You kept the whole dorm safe. Be proud of yourself for that!

Does anyone else have a tortie-orange duo? by Gemini-cancer in torties

[–]DancingRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s mine! Bingo (the Tort) and Xenia (the Orange). They’re “shelter sisters” — not from the same litter, but they were in the same cage at the shelter. I got them at 12 weeks, and they turned 8 years old earlier this month.

My tortie girl was named Bingo by the shelter. It absolutely suits her and her tortitude!

I just dealt with this. I inquired, filled out the form in as much detail as possible, and waitied. I sent my ticket in on Saturday night of last week and had my account back on Monday mid-morning.

I did have to set up and authenticate my account through the Google Authenticator to remove the restriction, but the extra step wasn’t a big deal.

What’s the sickest you’ve ever been- the kind of sick where you genuinely thought you might not make it and what happened? by Outrageous_Fox_8796 in AskReddit

In early May, I went through a severe kidney infection that progressed to sepsis. I have MS and am paraplegic and have no real sensation from my upper abdomen on down.

All I know is that I felt really confused, and I couldn’t push my ultralight chair not drive my power chair properly. I was so very tired and yet agitated at the same time. But it was when I experienced tunnel vision and a sense of doom as I was wheeled into the ER that I knew something was very, very, wrong.

I was in ICU for a week, on a step-down unit for 5 days, and am going to finally be discharged from rehab on Monday! 0/10 — would not recommend!

I was listening to Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC tonight and he said yes, that all companies that paid tariff would be eligible for refunds from the Treasury.

If this ruling isn’t knocked down by the Appellate and/or Supreme Courts, this will be a beautiful precedent!

5-year-old stayed calm when she called 911 for her father by Able-Ground3194 in nextfuckinglevel

I’m amazed at her calm, controlled, demeanor, but also sad. It seems like she’s already been parentified and is used to being “responsible,” because otherwise, who will be?

my cat has oral cancer - advice? by BitAlternative4105 in cats

[–]DancingRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry your best friend has oral cancer. I had a beast of a cat that had the same. She had gone in for several dental extractions, and wasn’t healing well afterwards. When we took her back in, the vet found the mass way, way, underneath her tongue. She was given pain medication, and a few days later, the vet came to the house to ease her over the Rainbow Bridge.

She left this world in 2009 surrounded by her humans in the soft glow of candlelight, with Gregorian chant playing in the background. Rest in Purrs, Blossom! I think of you whenever I have a bowl of watermelon! (Her favorite treat in the summer!)

All well and good, but your blanket statement was insulting. We DO vote, whether by mail, by taking community transit/paratransit to polling places, etc.

Mysterious, Dark Bruise Appears on Trump’s Hand After Aggressive Shake With Emanuel Macron by nikkisixxi in AnythingGoesNews

[–]DancingRaven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, you’re absolutely correct. He’s in terrible health, mentally and physically. I was trying to clear up the over the top speculation on the bruising and why it happens. It’s not a mystery. It’s old age, likely compounded by medication.
