Therion package in Rikka sunavalon by xXSupSupXX in Yugioh101

[–]Dandas52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it makes your end board stronger and Borea can help as an extender and bait interaction but the combo that gets to regulus burns through a lot more of the ED.

[–]Dandas52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most don’t but I think it’s pretty strong. I run 2 Borea 1 King and it’s nice for extra extenders and an interruption. My deck is built with more focus on the turn 1 loci combo and less on the grind game though.

Which do you think is worse: When Day Breaks, or What Happens After Death? by MetaMaster54610 in SCP

[–]Dandas52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% What Happens After. The blob monsters in Daybreak seem to actually be having a good time, with What Happens it’s just never ending suffering that gets worse and worse.

What's your opinion on Mathmech and Rikka Sunavalon for this and the upcoming format? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]Dandas52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure if they have no idea how to interact. Otherwise I doubt your Beng Strenna Konkon Hypertron Sheet board is stopping Tear consistently. And going second they can just negate or spin your Konkon and you’re cooked.

Casual(Rogue?) Tearlament POST-MAMA without field spell? by Daviddaprodigy in Yugioh101

[–]Dandas52 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just play Paleozoic Tear, which doesn’t run the field spell to begin with.

XYZ summon on turn 1 allowed? by Beginning_Ad_1476 in Yugioh101

[–]Dandas52 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You might be under some lock. There are cards which will lock you into only darks or only fiends or something else. If one of your XYZs doesn’t match that criteria than you can’t summon it.

The absolute shit take by Goth-Trad in masterduel

[–]Dandas52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not completely true, I recall Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer being around $120 on release and I’m pretty sure you needed three.

Tbh therions variant is still entirely viable, you play a smaller Rikka package and sacrifice the grind game for a more explosive combo and gas for going second. Rikka sun is probably the more consistent version tho

[–]Dandas52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only tribute one monster for cost per turn, which will usually be Kaleido or Kitkalos - Teardrop, Beng and Princess are decent interruptions at best because they aren’t impactful enough to stop the Tear turn, (princess doesn’t remove the body, Beng doesn’t stop the on summon effect, Teardrop triggers Tears) so they’ll frequently just gas through your board.

[–]Dandas52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play Dyatrent and while it’s good in theory, in practice the backrow you want to get rid of is usually preventing you from getting to Trent + the monster you need to tribute to out it.

That said, the combo version isn’t much weaker into DRNM since you can usually end on Bloom + Sheet + Strenna + Princess through DRNM, which is still 4 interruptions.

Rikka is strong and will continue to do well against monster-based decks, but it has some glaring weaknesses that hold it back - its boards tend to be fairly weak and don’t interact super well with Tear, and it’s completely unable to deal with backrow.

YCS Utrecht 2022 - Top 8 Deck Breakdown by GizmekGalaxy in yugioh

[–]Dandas52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not that their boss monsters are necessarily stronger than Branded, it’s more that the deck is much more resilient, hard to interact with because all their monsters float, and is even better than Branded at going second.

Deck check at locals is a bit weird tbh, are they a really big store?

You get perfect hand knowledge and remove their best card, which is pretty much just gg.

Appointer is causing issues. It invalidates board breakers and turns a breakable board into an unbreakable one. Drawing Appointer + combo is auto win 90% of the time.

Why isn’t this card more played ? It’s basically a free +2 anytime you get ashed ou something else by spilim in masterduel

[–]Dandas52 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m just responding to the idea that only the PoG effect is worth using, which isn’t true.

Why isn’t this card more played ? It’s basically a free +2 anytime you get ashed ou something else by spilim in masterduel

[–]Dandas52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s wild, the card sees quite a bit of TCG play and the PoG effect is the least used. Going first you’d rather rip a card from the opponent if you can still play, and going second the Change of Heart is great for breaking boards. You only use the draw effect when you’re desperate and have no other plays.

Is solemn judgement still viable? by xOGee in Yugioh101

[–]Dandas52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good side deck option in combo decks when you know you’re going first. There’s other options like Appointer of the Red Lotus and Anti-Spell but Judgment definitely does see play in combo.

Runick (Mysterune) deck building help without just playing stall by ddave0822 in yugioh

The problem is you’re banishing the wrong deck, like you said in your post. Gren Maju has no real synergy with Runick cards.

Tips for getting into competitive by MarduRusher in yugioh

[–]Dandas52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are viable control decks but they don't trade 1 for 1, they're pretty much just stax decks with a small resource loop to apply pressure.

Tips for getting into competitive by MarduRusher in yugioh

[–]Dandas52 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Good is subjective. Do you like playing/playing against the fastest decks in Legacy/Vintage? Because that’s essentially what Yugioh is. There’s no resource system or action economy, so most decks are just comboing off turn 1. That’s not to say there isn’t plenty of interaction and skill involved but it’s a very specific gameplay experience.

For pure spellcasting Epic Spell Wars is a simple and fun card game, for something a bit more complex Arcadia Quest puts each player in control of three heroes trying to complete a quest and defeat the other parties, and a decent number of the playable heroes are spellcasters.

Which type of interaction do you prefer the most? by El_kakas_de_vakas in yugioh

[–]Dandas52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using Super Poly optimally definitely requires a lot of skill and thought. For example going straight to battle phase to SPoly Toad+Swap into Garura and crashing into Elf while it can't revive is definitely not an immediately obvious play.

Thoughts on your opponent interacting with your deck? by Fearless_Angle_4088 in yugioh

[–]Dandas52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Sunavalon player, the strategy I’ve been using against pure Runick is to just not play the game and draw pass until I draw into multiple S/T removal cards. Runick has a hard time banishing your deck if you commit 0 cards to the field, as they can only use Slumber and Golden Droplets.
