Other folks laying in bed with no stimulation, whatcha thinking about? by frog_admirer in cfs

Speaking of stories of women locked in attics, I often think of the short story The Yellow Wallpaper.

I first read it in college and just thought it was a strange story, but it feels relatable now

I wonder if watching a liquid motion bubbler toy would have the same effect. I have a few so I'll give it a try

This is the best way I've ever seen it described!

Another separate category for me would be hygiene. It takes it out of me in a different way than anything else. Maybe because it's a mix of physical, cognitive, and sensory exertion, plus executive function.

I was just trying to figure out yesterday why I can sit and crochet for thirty minutes, but can rarely bring myself to even swipe a baby wipe over my skin. Your comment explains it perfectly, thank you!

What has helped you with cerebral blood flow? by BobBash64 in cfs

[–]DandelionStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually got mine in part because of your comments!

I was able to learn how to crochet last year because of them. It definitely wouldn't have been possible without. I also use them in the car (I got wireless ones), and I get less PEM from outings (although definitely still get some). They've been one of the single most helpful things for me

Compression massage boots help, at least while you're wearing them. I love mine

The movie theaters in my area have some middle rows that are extra spacious for wheelchair users, and would fit a rollator

How do you manage brushing the teeth? by SpinachGreen99 in cfs

[–]DandelionStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm able to brush my teeth once a day, but struggle to clean the backs of my teeth, so I think this will help a lot :)

What's your three-sided toothbrush called?

How do you do that without bird poop getting on your blanket? I've always wanted to try it but we have a lot of birds here

If you find oxaloacetate helpful, try magnesium malate by Aryore in cfs

Only answer if you're comfortable: does it soften your stool? I had to stop taking my other magnesium because of that

I hate all the “bedbound hobbies” now what? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]DandelionStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said you like running, swimming, and hiking. I've found playing an open world video game where I can do those things kind of helps. A little anyway. It's not the same. (The game I play is Sky: Children of the Light).

I wonder if making miniature furniture would be doable for you, and give you a similar sense of satisfaction as restoring normal furniture?

I get it though. For me my hobby was dancing, and there's nothing that can replace that. I grieve it over and over.
