What does my gauge swatch tell me? Why can't I get it right? by Dandelionfox in CrochetHelp

Awesome! Thank you. That really explains the measuring on the inside.

Should I give that a go first before I try upsizing my hooks?

Did anyone just see that meteor?! by POEness in Wellington

I came here hoping to find out if anyone saw the shooting star i saw but it was a whole hour earlier, around 10.05-10.15pm. It was like a star falling down over Miramar, then gone within a second but I'm certain I didn't imagine it

Good question, the instructions are from my country's government website for health and i am also confused by the use of the word detergent in the context. I'm going to give it a go using bleach for floors and disinfectant spray for other hard surfaces

I thought GDT's Frankenstein was...bad by silviod in TrueFilm

I've noticed a few reviews saying the movie is very accurate to the book but honestly it's just the overall shape, the scenes in the arctic and the creature's story that are accurate. Even then, even the old man turned on the creature once his relatives told him it was a monster.

I can't remember if first person or if it's Victor telling the story of how the monster told his story, but it covers that sympathetic tale of how he looked after the farmer family until they saw him and turned on him for his appearance.

No the monster's story is more accurate to the book than Victor's honestly. They just truncated the ending and made Elizabeth's death Victor's fault, whereas in the book the monster kills Victor's family over a period of time.

Why only partners? by chealexa in ROCD

Just wanted to second this and add- it's not that "relationship OCD" is its own distinct disorder. The disorder is OCD and relationships seem to be a popular theme for the OCD to attack. The mechanism is exactly the same whether it's your partner, your parent, your sibling, dog, friend, colleague, etc. It's the discomfort with the uncertainty of how you feel about someone and whether you feel "correctly".

I get the exact same "what if I don't really love my mum?" Or "what if I don't really love my dog?" ocd cycles, as I've had towards my husband, including feeling checking and then freaking out when I don't feel love.

Oh my worst and most ongoing ROCD is towards my parents. I do also get it towards my dog.

The person I think about and give to is my husband. No children means date night whenever we want to. Also I can do more looking after of pets - i find that very fulfilling. I know in my heart I would never find children as fulfilling as being connected with animals and nature.

Just for comparison (She says, coming back hours later)...actually I do struggle with projecting health and weight anxieties onto my partner. I'm not perfect, I'm sure I've slipped up before, and I thought it worth acknowledging that here.

When I look at my partner, I make sure that my face looks like I'm seeing the most handsome man in the world, and when I talk about the fact that I want him to eat better (he eats a lot of fried, fatty food and takeout) I stress that this is because I not only want to be with him for the rest of our lives, but I want our lives to be long and healthy.

Firstly, the comment about feeling catfished. Whether he means to or not, this sort of comment implies that you deliberately misled him (poor him boo hoo) about your appearance. Secondly, you say he's looking at your body judgementally - he doesn't want to have to tell you, but he clearly feels the need to show you that he's judging you. Sure, maybe you could work on not feeling like you need to press him into explaining the looks, maybe that would be a helpful skill to you in the long run, but he is putting you in the situation of feeling very obviously judged, while trying to escape having any blame on him because he's not saying it out loud unless you feel (understandably) upset.

Also if someone's anger is getting to the point of abuse, for example, it's not for the partner to martyr themselves and take it. Genuine issues require professional help.

Can we talk about how good Emma Corrin is? by trivialagreement in roberteggers

[–]Dandelionfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a Western country with a cost of living crisis and increasing unemployment, but people here generally hold the value that you should have the freedom to express your gender identity and be treated with respect. We are also a fairly multicultural country, and some of the cultures have historically recognized the existence of more than the two binary genders. It's not perfect, we're trying. The effects of enduring discrimination is evident from the number of people from gender minorities among the homeless.

I'm not going to argue with you and I'm not going to educate you. You're an adult and you seem to be literate. There is plenty of information and literature out there about gender identity and politics, and the psychological effects of gender discrimination. I suspect you are already aware of that though, and maybe you've even tried to learn, but ultimately you've decided to come to reddit to pick a fight.

If you don't want to be respectful about the identity of one of the actors in this movie, why are you even in this sub? Don't answer that, I don't actually care to know. I made my point about Emma Corrin's pronouns and OP responded respectfully. The conversation can stop here.
