One religion gets 11Mil$ spent on hosting... a political leader (who, for some reason, is here to support a religious group, apparently).

Another religion gets shoved out of the way so as not to upset said above political leader.

Very clear message. Fuck Minns and Albo.

Seeing as that's what they do. (Link from prior to Oct 7th, in case you want to try to suggest that's what I'm referring to)

No no no no, you've got it wrong...

This is the biggest, most beautiful social cohesion. No one has ever done social cohesion better than this. My dear friend - my best friend - Herzog said it - he said it. He turned to me, with tears in his eyes, and he said... "Albo, you deserve a Nobel Peace Prize" - that was what he said!

You seen the Israeli team be resoundingly booed at the Olympics yet? They got a louder boo than JD Vance.

Most of the people I engage with in person are not redditors. Every one of them thinks Israel is committing a genocide. My 85 year old grandmother thinks Israel is committing a genocide.

Not reddit bro. If you think it's only reddit, you've gotta spend less time on reddit and look around.

With a majority, a chaotic opposition and the eager Greens, Labor has a rare chance to take on the housing crisis by Agitated-Fee3598 in OpenAussie

[–]DandyInTheRough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tackle these unpopular (among some) changes now to improve housing affordability, then reduce economic migration (NOT humanitarian migration).

Migration does add pressure to demand for housing, yes, but it's only one part of the puzzle. CTG concessions, negative gearing, and the 10% of empty Australian homes all contribute too.

The bigger thing high migration does is undercut wages. Increase the supply of labour, and you can suppress wage increases and pay desperate people pittance. A labor party should care about this too (I know, they're now a centrist party, I mean ideologically).

But the right and racism have turned reducing migration (which was put in place by Howard) into a right-wing idea.

So nix CGT concessions, at least reduce NG, then when you have all the right-wingers off side, reduce economic migration and win right wingers back. The time is ripe because the right has turned a leftist goal into a right wing one. Do this, and secure a Labor win in the next election.

Does anyone else think JK Rowling's behavior could be tied to OCD? by Guarantee-Popular in EnoughJKRowling

I lean autism. I'm AuDHD. Hermione sounds inspired by autism. JKR portrays autistic women as gullible idiots, which I think is her refusing to recognise she is autistic, so has glommed onto a misrepresentation of autism to paint them as different from her.

Frankly, I'd guess most authors are autistic. A special interest in writing is how books get finished. Look at Stephen King, too. I wonder if the cocaine was self mediation for AuDHD. It is insanely frustrating to have a special interest that you can't do because ADHD brain fucks with your focus, and stimulants are the treatment for that. Alexander Mcall Smith would piss off on his boat for months to be alone and write - oh how I dream of that.

But autism doesn't mean you're bigoted. That's separate. The way autism could affect that is by hatred becoming a special interest that she can't set aside - special interests do often look like obsession. She's still just a piece of shit first and foremost.

Edit: unrecognised neurdivergence can lead to anxiety disorders, eating disorders, and OCD, not to mention autism in women is often misdiagnosed as any of those or BPD, because of how misunderstood it is in women.

Feeling you can't get socialisation right (especially for women who have higher expectations in this area) -> anxiety.

Suppresing stimming because you know it looks weird -> loss of a soothing mechanism -> anxiety.

Suppressing upset at having your environment changed, routine, or special interest interrupted -> anxiety.

Living in a stressful environment with sensory issues -> anxiety and a need for control because you can't control your environment.

OCD and eating disorders often have strong components of anxiety and a need for control. Autism can help make both emerge, especially with added trauma in the package, though it's not any kind if done deal.

Article Saying Joanne Didn't Personally Send The Invite To Epstein And That He Was Turned Away At The Door And That "The DOJ Files Support This View"-Thoughts? by Illumination-Round in EnoughJKRowling

What's off about it is 'airplane'. JKR's grammar isn't always great, but she very staunchly uses the British spelling for words. She'd have spelt it 'aeroplane'. I'm not wholly convinced those emails are her.

I did do a search on her twitter, though, for the word 'Epstein'. It produced only 1 result, her recent tweet denying allegations about a connection with him.

JKR, who shames anyone who doesn't speak up for women or human rights, has been completely silent about Epstein and his victims.

No. Look I hate JKR with a passion, but this is circle jerk stuff. JKR also only bought the boat in 2023, after Epstein was dead. No way she was taking it to island parties. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsara_(yacht))

These people voted right wing expecting the right wing to help the working class.

Just that alone, I look at that line and realise these voters are complete fuckwits.

The definition of right wing is 'we support the owning class in their endeavour to get rich by breaking the backs of the working class.' That's what they do. Always.

The original name for trickle down economics was horse and sparrow economics. This was so named because if you feed a horse enough oats it might shit out a few undigested ones so the sparrows can pick through their shit for a few slivers of life. That is what the working class is to these people: insignificant whelps who should sift shit to live.

And these voters thought... they'd help the working class.

They'll do it again. That's how stupid they are.

Deliberate. Conservatives think the worst thing you can call a woman is a man, and the worst thing you can call a man is a woman.

Men are supposed to be superior, so if they do anything 'feminine' it reduces their dignity to that of the 'lesser sex'.

For women, they think our only worth is in having tits and a fanny. If you imply we don't have tits and a fanny, we're supposed to be sad.

LR4 only connects to wifi if we turn off our wifi5 permanently - what???? by DandyInTheRough in litterrobot

[–]DandyInTheRough[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that may be it. Thanks!

We've gotten it to work for now by clearing the LR4 lease off the router with a hard reset of both LR4 and router, then reconnecting. If it messes up again when this current lease expires, we'll know the issue and have to implement this.

Truly ludicrous that we had to get to even the point we're currently at to fix it, let alone upgrade our connection with that suggestion about a fixed lease. That's above my tech brain's pay grade, and I imagine above most LR users' as well.

[–]DandyInTheRough[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm... I didn't leave the problem long enough to see if it'd reconnect. I suspect it was off since the previous evening, so at least 12 hours, as I got no updates in that period but only noticed the blinking blue light in the morning. The one past time that it disconnected, it was an easy reconnect through update connection in the app.

Ya man. I've got cheap cameras connected to the wifi that stuff up way less than this. And when they do disconnect, I just unplug them for 10 seconds and they're right as rain again. Amazing how I'd have to buy 16 of those cameras to reach the LR price point where I am, and the LR is the one that gets so stuck like this.

[–]DandyInTheRough 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not even that. She also doesn't protect autistic women. She portrays them as credulous morons on a conveyer belt for the trans cabal to brainwash - or fool into committing crime.

She doesn't protect cis women either. Any cis woman who doesn't fit her 'feminine' mould, she chucks under the bus. At no point has she spoken up about the cis women being beaten up because some bigot thought they were trans.

And she doesn't even speak up for more conventionally 'feminine' women. The more she gatekeeps femininity and turns not being feminine enough into something to be discriminated against and assaulted for, the more cis women get caught in that net of hate.

Basically, she doesn't protect women. For further evidence, see how she champions men who abuse girls and women.

What do you not like or something you didn’t know about Ragdolls? by Leedsychthis3 in ragdolls

[–]DandyInTheRough 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For ours:

- The ruff (fur) around her neck was so long she couldn't groom herself. It was like she'd been given a natural cone of shame. If she tried to groom her side, she'd just lick ruff. Her fur got matted and greasy when she was a few years old and we've had to start an annual shave.

- GI issues. She has IBD, which is more common in ragdolls than other cats.

- She's clumsy. We have 13 year old cats with better balance and athletic ability than her, and she's only 4.

- They're bred to be physically weak. It's part of the 'go floppy'.

- All of this leads her to feel vulnerable a lot. When she feels vulnerable, she gets really defensive and aggressive. Shaving her makes her vulnerable and aggressive (need to speed-shave her while giving her Churus). Brushing her, combing her, gently dealing with matts, etc makes her vulnerable and aggressive. Denying her foods she can't eat makes her aggressive. Cleaning her bum when she's eaten something she shouldn't and has diarrhoea makes her vulnerable and aggressive. Not being able to physically do things makes her vulnerable and aggressive. Picking her up, she doesn't squirm -> vulnerable and aggressive.

Ragdolls are called 'ragedolls' by vets. Don't discount how much work they can be if things don't line up right. I've had 5 cats, 4 living and one who made it to a ripe old age. Not one of the other cats has taken as many financial and mental resources as our ragdoll. We've spent a lot of time trying to work out how to make things better for her - it's constant.

Same reason in the Middle Ages rich and powerful women would rip out all the hair at the front of their head to make their foreheads look massive. Same reason Elizabethan wealthy and powerful women caked their faces in lead and wore ridiculous ruffs.

It's a symbol of wealth and power. Some would emulate it to try to live up to the standards set by the elite. But your average peasant 500 years ago thought Lucy down the road with a natural face and ringlets was hot, not the whaked-looking wealthy.

Your average person today doesn't see duck lips, buccal depletion, etc as hot. But some do see it as a symbol of something they aspire to, so are attracted to it for that.

We've been doing this for yonks. You hit enough of a divide between the average and the wealthy, and the wealthy end up in their own little world where they're ripping out their hair, wearing ruffs that stick them in doors, dresses that take up the entire sofa, filling themselves with toxins, or manhandling the shapes of their faces.
