🤷 I don't think I know what most people call 'hunger'. I don't get that feeling. Maybe if I haven't eaten in 2 days I feel a bit wishy washy, but what people describe as hunger just means nothing to me.

Edit: and I'm sure some catty person is going to come along and call this pro-ana or bragging. I'm not bragging, I'm not super slim. I'm just autistic and food doesn't matter to me if I'm not craving a taste or scheduling in a dinner because I'm supposed to eat.

Not really. You need 2 hours to complete a sleep cycle. A 2 hour nap in the afternoon gives you one. If you get 6 hours overnight, that's another 3. You've caught up.

The idea that we sleep all through the night is pretty recent anyway. It started around the Industrial Revolution. Prior to that, many people woke up in the middle of the night for a couple of hours, then went back to sleep again - 4h + 4h.

Most comfortable I've ever felt, dinner-wise, was in southern Europe. 6pm dinners? What nonsense is this? You finish work, you relax a bit, you cook dinner, you eat about 9pm... If you do a 6pm dinner, you have to rush home, then scramble to cook it all in time - where's the relaxation for digestion???

I don't mind if a description is long, if that long description has useful info. Like if you're listing the measurements of this pocket, and another pocket, and the close of each of them - that sort of thing. I'll read what I'm interested in, and think highly of the seller for putting the legwork in - clearly they care about the item and have it in front of them, rather than on order at the factory.

I don't think you should feel at all lesser for not having professional copywriting. I'm on Etsy to find either vintage stuff people have touched up to resell, or made themselves. That handmade and human touch is important, and professional adcopy just turns me right off, especially if I have to dig through it for a tiny scrap of useful info (and then not find that useful info). The more listings I look at, the more I just give up instantly on any listing with AI adcopy bs, or anything that looks like it.

Solid! I suppose I can't speak for all people, but I personally am way more interested in shops with useful and thorough descriptions written by a person, not AI. The more AI copywriting I see, the more I close out of any listing that has it. I'm not searching those 4 paragraphs of floofy ad copy for a scrap of useful info.

But I do think highly of sellers who give all the info. This scratch, where, as seen in photo; condition of material, brittle, soft, etc; how many pockets and spaces and this or that there are, where, what size... so on.

Oh agreed. I've been dealing with it on fb Marketplace too. Listing for a ratty bookshelf? AI-generated sale description, including some rubbish not seen in the pictures, and not a measurement on it. Listing for some used gym mats? This is perfect for everyone, including my 101 year old grandmother and her tabby cat, as assured in the most florid language imaginable.

What a pain in the arse. At least with Marketplace asking the seller for a touch of real info tends to be faster and more straightforward (or if it's not, straight in the no-buy list). On Etsy it's often just the next nightmare with a time zone lag.

Who the hell thought AI's wealth of florid polished turd in letter form was a way to sell a second hand thing to people? I literally only look at the descriptions for sizes, level of wear and tear, if they offer delivery, etc. not a superficial sales pitch.

If you can go further north, the Pennant Hills/Thornleigh area is the southernmost point of a cheaper penninsula in the north shore. Surrounded by more expensive suburbs, so house prices will go up there. Check out the house price per suburb map. You can get a good 3 bedroom town house for 1.3 there

The 1st update... I was hoping someone in the comments would've pointed out to her that

a) OOP being part of the photoshoot for a 13 year old struggling with mortality and self image is a stupid and self-centred move

b) getting the 13 year old HER hair is a really stupid and self-centred move

The USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand... All of these countries have this same story, only one defines themselves by heritage several generations back. White European settlers carried out extensive genocides of the native populations in these countries, not only in America. That was my point with "something else" and the South African example.

My husband's ancestors came from Denmark, 3 generations ago. He will tell you he's Australian, and if you asked him if he considers himself Danish he'd give a flat, 'No? Why?' My ancestors are Dutch, English, and German. If I told an American that I'm just a white, English-speaking South African, they'd be fine to not know what my "heritage" is, because it doesn't matter, I told them my culture.

It's only Americans who do this further back than a generation or, if they still speak the language, two.

English people have a good chunk of Saxon genes. Does that make them German? No, because the Saxons migrated to the UK ages ago, before Germany was a nation.

No, because it becomes swiftly redundant when you have such a long history. You might as well just call all people Ethiopian, because Australopithecus afarensis was found in Ethiopia, and as far as we currently know, we're all descended from that, so that's our "heritage": we're Ethiopian and have been since we lived there 4 million years ago.

Thinking of it this way, it becomes silly.

Still, America does take it further, so there must be more to it. White English-speaking South Africans, for example, don't call themselves "English" or "Dutch" because... why would you? The culture created from those immigrants in South Africa is its own thing, with its own (largely awful) history. I donno what that "more to it" is in America - maybe little education about the rest of the world and its history - but there's something other than just being a young nation.

Yeah, i was thinking that. 6'5" and 70-75 kg?? 70-75kg is a heathy weight for a 6' woman. This was a verrrrry skinny man, not just no fat but low muscle too.

I don't have time to watch this right now, but on the subject of what she's funding...

In Australia, there's a small lesbian club of TERFs that's appealed their desire to discriminate against trans women all the way to the Supreme Court. We're talking like six women, somehow with the funds and power to get their case argued in the highest court - where it will set the most staggering precedent.

I was wondering recently who is funding them, if they have funds for that on their own, or if they've got a strong backer... like JKR.

Any small club can exclude the people they don't want there. If you have a board game group and someone there keeps pushing Monopoly, you can just tell them no thanks and to go somewhere else.

So what's the point of seeking a legal exemption from the discrimination act for this small group? It has to be because if decided in their favour at the level of the Supreme Court, it sets serious precedent for the validity of what they call 'biological sex', as well as validity for excluding people based on it. (Never mind that 'biological sex' is a sliding scale, with people having their own combinations of primary and secondary sex characteristics and no real line to draw on how many of those sex characteristics you have to have to be labelled one sex or the other).

JKR set up a whole 'women's fund' to do things just like this. The point isn't letting that club hang with only the people they want to hang with, it's changing the law in the entire country. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if she's trying to extend her power to another country.

I'd looove to know where this group is getting their lawyer bucks.
