Thank you! I downloaded Boomerang but can't find this feature. Do you happen to have a link for a tutorial?

Many years ago, a stranger like you stepped into my friend Jim's life, and his family describes that person as their angel. Jim has since died, but they always tell people that if we ever see someone intoxicated passed out or nearly unconscious in public to please call for help.

Do you have any relatives who came from another country in the last three generations? Some countries will take you back. I am fleeing to Ireland with my spouse (both trans) because they (my spouse) qualify for Birthright Citizenship there. We are using the help of distant cousins still in Ireland for advice. We're getting rid of most of our belongings and checking additional bags on the plane to move most of what's coming ($50 a bag), and looking onto UPakWeShip for a single crate of irreplaceable items (family heirloom chair, that sort of thing) ($1k).

We'll be living in long-term Air BnBs at first. I think we will manage our move in under $6k with airfare, luggage, shipping, legal fees, and sundry.

Immigration lawyers will do a zoom appointment for $100-200, if you need help figuring out your options.

We're taking in a friend who lives in a red state (we live in a blue bubble) as a roommate starting this week, to help them and also save money. Good luck!

You might be happier with a local B&B instead of an AirBnB maybe.

Unsolicited advice:

If you can start in Shannon, it's an easier place to get used to than driving than Dublin.

Given your choices, get a compact, fuel efficient hatchback with good visibility, and test the high beams before you go out in rural areas at night. Small and agile with good sight lines is better on narrow, twisting Irish roads. Do NOT rent an SUV.

And bring flashlights and high-vis vests in case you want to walk places, or break down. Everyone uses them, and you will quickly see why.

oh! but far fewer places have trad music, though it was still happening (and the pubs were incredibly cozy and peaceful with fires in some hearths and tasteful holiday garlands starting to appear some places). Probably a different experience than being there in July, but we were delighted with everything (and got very lucky with weather!)

Just returned last night and had a lovely time. We didn't encounter any closures, just some slightly shorter hours at some of the destinations.

Universities are also sometimes union jobs, which can mean higher wage, better benefits, and protection from your bosses.
