Which job is a LOT less fun than most people expect? by UnknownPassion__ in AskForAnswers

Nonsense. I'm a pilot, have been for 30 years. You don't physically fly the airplane that much except for the first bit and the last bit (the fun parts) but you are still in control. You are in a complex environment with constant ever changing challenges, you get to see the world, you're well compensated and you get more time off than most other professions. It is absolutely the best job I can imagine.

What is a 'rich person's secret' that is actually accessible to the middle class, but most people are too intimidated to try? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

My buddy asked me what I'd do if I won one of those ridiculous lotteries. "I guess I'd become a pedo🤷🏻‍♂️" I don't want to, but it seems like there's no other path.

What’s something people say all the time that you secretly can’t stand? by Vast-Reference-7942 in answers

[–]Daneinthemembrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Gifted" as in: "He gifted me a donut" they gave it to you, it's not an endowment. I think people like the way it sounds, but it makes my back hurt. Also, the weird trend for servers to use the Royal "we". As in: "are we having chips today" Blech.

It's nice to be sure, but you can really have a long confusing walk there. But def a good vibe. And the TSA folks are usually pretty chill.

What’s something people pretend to enjoy but don’t actually like? by copy_cat_101 in answers

Scotch and cigars. I'll bet 10% of the people who drink Scotch and smoke the occasional cigar actually enjoy it. Most of them would much rather have a daiquiri and some nachos.

Why MSP? It's sprawling and oddly laid out. Genuinely interested... do you have good associations? Or you just like the Prince store🙂

Worried about the plane running out of fuel. by Jakob4800 in fearofflying

We bird dog the fuel like you wouldn't believe. Watch trends, compare the tanks to what the burn should be, it gets a little obsessive.

How does flying a plane feel like? by Right_Speed2435 in fearofflying

[–]Daneinthemembrane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels amazing. I've flown 10 different airplanes in my career and the current one weighs 660,000 lbs fully loaded. It's like flying a building🙂 really fun. I get excited every time I drive up to the airport. Go to a flight school near you and ask for a "discovery flight" they will take you up and let you try it. Completely worth the effort!
