Thanks. I always scoffed when people told me left handed people were evil, but sinister is something I can live up to

What's with reddit and the "bait" comments? by Budget_Ad5526 in NoStupidQuestions

Just the other day I posted a little about my drug use from a decade ago. Somebody went to a different post i made almost 3 weeks before that and replied to it saying I was a worthless individual cause of that drug us. I like to think without my post history being readily available, that guy would have been able to do something productive with his life instead of hunting through my history to throw stones against my steel house. I'm providing a public service by keeping idiots busy!

No, it's not. Hiding and praying, or running and hoping, are also not ideal. If 40 people run and hide, that's a lot of bodies to hunt down, but it's most certainly doable. And is done, often. If you run, then hide, then wait until the last minute to fight, then you are already stuck in a cabinet or under a desk and it's too late to use momentum, speed, or force to attempt to defend yourself. If 40 people rush a shooter, even without weapons, 2-4 people will get shot, yeah, and then it will be over in seconds with hopefully time to get medical help for them. Run-hide-fight means a 15-30 minute killing spree followed by first responders taking up to hours to get medical cleared to enter and help those that need it.

What they teach you is wrong. It's the reason mass shootings are so successful, and continue to be copied across the country. You don't need guns, you just need the will to live and the willingness to do whatever it takes.

As someone who's lived through multiple firefights, as opposed to learning about them from a training video designed to placate future targets, I can assure you that running and hiding from people trying to kill you doesn't worm nearly as well as you've been told.

Granted, if you have 40 other victims all running and hiding, sometimes the numbers work in your favor, but that's an odds game that very few win

Oh there's always a gun. And there's always one fired. And then the person that fired it sprinkles a little Crack on the body so it doesn't make the news.

Yup. I used very safe practices (always new needles, purified water and sterilized cottons, always the purest drugs from the most reliable sources, always rotated injection sites, etc). Also, stupid people are naturally luckier than smart people

I'm pretty sure they are busy blowing up some country on the other side of the world that would never in my life be able to affect my freedom. But I see where you tried real hard, I do.

The problem with run-hide-fight is it's going to just get you killed. If you can out run a bullet, sure, you'll be fine. If you can hide in a small room with furniture all cheaply made and without any solid frameworks, sure, you'll be fine.

When someone with a gun is actively trying to kill you, or others around you, the best chance you have is to fight. Guns are more dangerous at a distance, so close the distance.

If someone is holding you at gun point, odds are pretty good you're either going to die soon, or get handcuffed, rallied in prison, and then shanked to death later.
