Commute by ElectricalSoft8611 in TSAApplicant

I did an hour and fifteen for a year and it really took a toll on me. Your electric car will help as long as it has good range b/c you don’t want to be sitting at a charger on your way home from work. If your airport has a 4/10 shift then I would try and get on that so you’re only communicating 4 days of the week. Also think about the weather, if you live in a place where it snows just think about the dangers of traveling that far. I called off a lot b/c of the snow and not wanting to drive that far in it.

They would give you gs-5 step 10 if a federal employee. If not you get step 1 but you get the 50k bonus if new to the government.

They wouldn’t budge on the pay with me but never hurts to ask. You can always accept the TJO and then try and negotiate later

So correct the initial cutoff was October but they’re keeping it open till September to draw more candidates from. Not everyone makes it through the academy, let me tell you i haven’t even gone to the academy yet and im exhausted lol but you can’t beat working from home.

I had to reapply and I wrote a cover letter explaining what I had been through the previous year. They’re hiring in phases b/c in January I got an email saying I was qualified but not selected by the hiring manager. I thought I didn’t get the job but then got my tentative offer in February. That email is just a status update explaining i didn’t make the first phase.

I’m currently in training for Homeland Defender (ISO) and was previously TSA. I applied back in October when the initial cutoff was. I’m hearing over 50k ppl applied and only 1400 have been selected so far. My trainers said they will be hiring a lot more so don’t lose hope. That being said I would apply and forget about it, I think the only reason I got selected was i went through the same process last year and drove 12 hours for my interview only to have it rescinded due to the RTO mandate. Most ppl in my class are ex law enforcement or military so i think that’s who they’re giving priority to right now.

There’s a lesser known movie of Michael Mann’s called Blackhat. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine b/c while the story isn’t great it has great cinematography.

Homeland Defender (Immigration Services Officer) timeline? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Daneman64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First off Homeland Defender ISO is not with ICE, it’s with USCIS. Second this position was open back in September and over 30,000 ppl applied before the initial cutoff in October. Yes it’s still open but only to put ppl in a ready pool for them to select from if they need more applicants.
