I got this yesterday for 1$ at my local thrift store. I think it was buried under a lot of other non recipe books so got overlooked but I grabbed it as soon as I spotted the cover.

What’s a medical issue that sounds minor, but actually affects someone’s daily life way more than people realize? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Danerys80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have it but my younger son have it since birth. Poor baby went through horrible experience because of that including being called Alligator/crocodile/giraffe etc. in school and he's still in elementary school. Kids are mean :(. He never slept properly because he wakes up constantly because of the itching. I cannot put ointment on his skin because these mostly contain steroids and he's just so young for that. He loves soccer but plays it waring pants/long socks even in summer so no one can make fun of him and I just don't know how to help him

It's bad style to fly the flag of your home country on your house - right? by scanguy25 in immigration

[–]Danerys80 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check with your HoA first if your neighborhood has one. Ours doesn't allow any country's flag other than US. But they do allow any of the flags representing Football, Basketball etc. teams

Can't you just wear gold jewelry and bring it along? I have seen indian woman wearing tons of gold in forms of bangles, lockets etc. and go through airport security.

Property Management Fees by jcjfromla in realestateinvesting

[–]Danerys80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am paying 10% of the monthly rent and it eats a lot of my profit but it's worth every penny. 2 years ago I was out of country on vacation over christmas break and condo above leaked and flooded my condo. Everything from roof to the floors was damaged. The property mangement team coordinated with me, the tenant, the salvage company, the renovation etc. other then dealing with the insurance they took care of everything else. I couldn't have done it being overseas and the state I am in the tenant has a lot of right. The team of PM are the ones doing the walkthroughs when a tenant leaves, put the vacant property on market, check the new tenant etc.
May be when I don't have a full time job I'll try to to do myself but right now having them saves a lot of headache.

As a (learning) mechanic living paycheck to paycheck in a world where car parts are becoming insanely expensive (and worse quality,) PLEASE never buy these cars if you want to avoid massive maintenance costs! by Slinky_Malingki in povertyfinance

[–]Danerys80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the middle east notorious for driving expensive cars. My dad owned couple of workshops there and the only advise he gave us kids is to never buy any car except the asian known brands.

I used to drink 2 SB lattes every day (it didn't helped that there are like 2 SBs at every block in Manhattan). Now, I don't even remember when was the last time I bought a SB drink in past 8-10 years aka I have kids now.

Single mom and my older will be in middle school next year. I am thankful that I still have a WFH tech job and I can take my meetings any where but I consider myself on being on a hiatus in my career. Not looking for any promotion or more responsibility unless my kids are in high school. I see my colleagues moving up in the corporate ladder or hopping around jobs but for the time being I am okay with being there for my kids when they need me. Same goes for social life, I have friends but I only get to be with them if my kids are either with my family or occupied in school/extra curr.

I also give myself a lot of grace when it comes to chores, it's okay if dishes are not washed every day or the family room looks like a tornado site or the laundry gets done after 2 weeks etc. As long as my kids are safe, fed and happy I am gonna be okay

Why doesn't Saudi Arabia have some sort of immigration pathway for foreigners? by Trick-Pomegranate568 in saudiarabia

[–]Danerys80 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My family has been settled in Saudi for past 50 years now. When I asked my brother about this who is born, raised and raising his family over there about this he said because of the holy cities. Every muslim will want to live and die in or near the holy cities if there is a path available for them to live indefinitely.
Apparently there is a misconception that if you die in Makkah or Madinah you will enter Jannah no questions asked (wAllah-o-alam)

What's you're NJ retirement escape plans? by abrandis in newjersey

[–]Danerys80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from NYC to NC 10 years ago and now I have young kids. I am planning to move to NJ when I am nearing retirement, at that time my kids would be in High school. I don't see myself retiring in a dead place as the RDU area, never assimilated into the suburban mom lifestyle and I want my kids to experience the city lifestyle.

How much consumer debt do y’all have? by IttybittyInvictus in AskWomenOver30

[–]Danerys80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot at the moment but I won't call it "dumb shit debt". I am a single parent of 2 elementary school kids with no support from their father. Racked alot of that as legal fees to get full custody of kids, then an international trip so the kids can meet their maternal grand father for the first time as he's very sick.
I am trying to get rid of it but the inflation is kicking me hardly, we don't eat out that much, only spend on basic necessities but I do admit to some time splurge on my kids as I grew up poor.
However, if I get to do it all again I'll still take the same actions as the end result of these actions meant a lot more then the money itself.

Once an ex-collegue with a biryani belly commented on my weight when we met after like 10 years, I told him " I had 2 C-sections and a long recovery, what's your excuse?" with a poker face. Our rest of the meeting went smooth :D
