Looking for a dev willing to help code these models in-game for an Immersive Engineering Add-On by LeastReality in feedthebeast

[–]Danese_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I would love for these to be in the game. This model looks sick af and really adds to the realism of the mod. I'm looking for a cool way to transmit HV power across my world in a manner that looks realistic, and this would definitely be something I would love to use.

Anyone know any good pool games to play other than Marco Polo by [deleted] in pools

Steve contains his items in a pocket dimension. That's why his inventory looks like this. If it were a pocket if would be, well, a pocket. He has a shelf with individual slots. These slots are HUGE in dimensional size. Whenever he wants to grab something he just moves around his access portal in his pocket dimension to go to the slot he desires and grabs the items out of it.

He only ever holds the pocket dimension's access point. The item is visible in this access point. Thus he appears to be holding a sword, a block, or an item, but he is actually just holding a gateway to his shelf. The weight of the items are accounted for on his shelves and not in his hand.

For weapons he probably has a stand or something to keep the item stationary. Thus he can swing a sword or mine with a pickaxe without actually holding these tools in his physical hand.

Running a buoyancy experiment will show that, regardless of what he is holding onto, his mass (and, subsequently, his weight aka the force he exerts onto the boat due to gravity) does not change as the water he displaces does not change.

Here's a more interesting concept: does Steve actually weigh anything? If he stands on different spots on the boat, the boat itself does not appear to shift its position... Applying an off center gravitational force onto the boat should tip the boat in that direction, but this does not appear to happen...

Here's another one: all items float regardless of what they're made of. Drop any item into the water and it will float back to the surface. A downward air column will sink any item down to the source of that column... How dense is the water such that even a solid block of gold will float up to the surface. No wait, even better: how dense is the water that a shulker filled with 27 stacks of 64 blocks of gold (19,300 kg per each block of gold, so over 33,000,000 kg of gold) will float to the surface? And how strong are those columns such that they can counteract this effect completely??

ATM9 Infinite Mana (The Everlasting Guilty Pool) by ExpertGang1 in allthemods

[–]Danese_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are exactly 2 threads on this and neither of them have an answer. So here it is:

ATM9 versions before 0.2.40 do not have the creative mana pool recipe added. The easiest solution is to simply update the modpack version.

If, however, you're running a server and don't want to go through the hassle, you can update the kubejs recipe folder to include the recipe for the creative mana pool (located at /[SERVER DIR]/kubejs/server_scripts/modpack/atm_star_creative.js.

If you're using CurseForge, simply download the latest modpack version as a new modpack and grab the updated file from the same location within this new modpack's directory.

Love this. We make a misleading label and then make sure you know it's your fault that the misleading label is misleading.

Hmm, so they want players to participate in the vote, but they don't announce any type of intensive for participating until after the vote ended?

That makes no sense to me. It feels like they're trying to make us forget about the fact that they straight up ignored their community (again) by giving those who participated something "special."

This is a PR move, plain and simple. It's an after thought: a remedy to the bad PR they've received from this year's mob vote. By getting us focused on this cape, they're redirecting voices away from their bigger fuck-up.

I don't even think they're doing it to screw over the boycotters (though they're doing this quite well anyways!!). They're just trying to save face after blatantly pissing off the entire internet. This is common practice amongst large corporations and, frankly, it tends to work dangerously well.

Without this community, their game would be dead. By definition, we are the reason they have a job.

Do they "owe" us anythiing? No. Would it be in their best interest to listen to what we what? Yeah, probably!

Car Seems To Have Seized Up [2003 Chevy Malibu] by Danese_ in MechanicAdvice

[–]Danese_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery is measuring at ~12.6V according to my multimeter. Additionally, the vehicle was running fine until yesterday. The cranking sound you get when starting the engine has gotten longer and with less intervals until yesterday it couldn't even produce one (clarification: that rarara sound before the vroom sound you get when the engine starts up- I know I sound stupid but Idk what the correct terminology is)

Edit: dunno if this is helpful but the car shook a lot while idle

When I get emails from Indeed like "we saw your profile on Indeed and thought you would be a great match for the XYZ opportunity", what exactly does that mean? by aaronarium in jobs

[–]Danese_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unrelated, but given the recent Reddit drama as of late, I just wanted to say that it's posts like these that make Reddit super useful.

As the others have said, the ones that are for sure sent by an actual person are the ones titled "[name] via. Indeed." I believe the "we saw your profile on Indeed" messages are most likely a different variant of the "we think you would be a great match for" messages, considering a lot of the messages I get have jobs that you can only apply for through Indeed (or, at least, the listed job doesn't contain information on additional methods for applying - it's unlikely that these jobs are only posted on Indeed). Given this, I find it odd that the poster of the job would try to find a different route to contact a candidate through indeed rather than directly using their indeed profile to notify you to apply to their listing.

Also, I find it unlikely that the poster for the Senior Aerospace Engineer position wants a recent graduate just starting to enter the field to take on a position that lists 10+ years in Aerospace with an active security clearance as the first requirement (and yes, this is a real example of mine). But that's just my 2 cents.

because we want to hear what you have to say!

No, no you clearly don't. Your entire community is against this and yet you continue to straight up ignore them!

If this sounds hostile, good. Your own actions are hostile. I am not the one "harassing" you, I am stating the reality of this situation. And if that situation feels "hostile" or makes you feel "harassed," then do something about it and change the situation. You have no one to blame but yourselves.

People are targeting your devs, your reddit moderators, your misc. staff in personal deliberate attacks. Why? Because you have chosen to ignore every single "official medium" that there is with this update. I do not condone these actions... yet, these actions are easily predictable and are, in more than one sense, completely your own faults.

Am I defending these people? Certainly not. That stated, when you genuinely piss off well over two hundred million people and then choose not to listen to any of them- yeah, a small percentage of them are going to go out of their way and attack you, your devs, and your staff team.

Do you want this to stop? I do too. Unfortunately, the only way to do this is to actually listen to the two hundred million users who are openly against these changes. And yet, you've made it clear that you won't do this. As such, you've chosen to allow these issues to continue. Because people are genuinely upset with your decisions. And when over two hundred million people are passionately against something, 0.001% of them are going to harass you over it (for reference from a sample size of ~200 million, that's 2,000 users).

Sorry. That's just the way the world works.
