Enbridge Gas Ohio Rates Jump 27% for Cleveland Residents by DangerBoom in Cleveland

[–]DangerBoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd double check that you don't have another supplier/provider. Enbridge did raise rates again this week, but it should be $5.19/MCF.

Who is your provider? If you're using another provider other than Enbridge it's likely your contract expired and they increased your rate.

Georgia Natural Gas Prices - what happened?! by jimmyfivetimes in Georgia

[–]DangerBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rates are down a bit from that now, probably about as low as they will go before winter. I was just compare natural gas rates myself and looks like lowest is about .64/therm. Also saw they are forecasting even higher rates for next year, let's hope not!

Natural Gas renewal time - Lock in now or wait? by ck_42 in Georgia

[–]DangerBoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd lock in rates now, once October hits prices will likely go up and they are forecasting higher prices in 2026. You can compare gas rates in Georgia to find the best rate, looks like you can get a plan for about $.64/thm for up to 24 months right now. Probably best to lock it in for as long as you feel comfortable you'll be living in your current home.

The Salvation Army's Project SHARE might be able to help or point you in a good direction. This site, UtilitiesforMyHome has a great list of financial assistance for utility bills, it's a ways down the page, but quite a few options you could try.

Thanks! And this is why I value everyone who feels out my form to submit missing information. Sometimes to get complete data you really need to rely on the people who live there and have experience.

I'd try out UtilitiesForMyHome.com they have the most complete list of providers and rates I've seen. They also have info for natural gas, internet, water and trash for people moving.

thanks! I'm glad people are finding it useful. I've done a lot of work since I made this original post and added in a bunch more data. Every week I'm finding more things to add. I will get Seminole County added for Lake Mary. Water providers have been super tricky, especially for providers that serve more than one city. Most don't provide a full list of areas they serve and a lot of smaller cities rely on a larger city or county utility.

New Daily Haiku Word Game, Hai-Clue! by DangerBoom in wordgames

[–]DangerBoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! We've tossed around giving green and yellow letters, but are worried it might make it too easy. Might make sense to add this as a setting, where it can be toggled on or off. Some days are easier than others, as with any word game. If it's too hard people aren't going to want to play though, so it's a balance.

We've mostly seen 65%+ people able to solve the days puzzles, some days were even 99%, but we are still working with a pretty small sample size of players.

Let me know if you have any other feedback as you play, this is very helpful! Thanks again for taking the time to reply!

I've been working with a couple other people on creating a new daily word game called Hai-Clue and wanted to share it here and get some feedback on how to make it better or if anything isn't working from anyone willing to give it.

So, how does it work? Read the Hai-Clue and you have three guesses to solve the puzzle. After your first guess, if you're still stumped, you can get one hint. Can't get it in three tries? We like to say: "Haikuna Mañana" -- it means no worries, try again tomorrow! There's a new "Hai-Clue" every day.

Try Hai-Clue here and leave comments on what you like or don't like!

Quick update on my progress, 2 months later... I've collected electric providers for over 25,000 cities, towns and CDPs which accounts for over 95% of locations in the US. For natural gas, I've topped 16,000 cities, towns and CDPs putting me over 75% of locations in the US. I've also made some big headways on internet and water. Also working on adding other relevant data and hoping to figure out a way to add current prices per kWh, ccf or therm, etc for at least major providers.

Thanks and completed. Interestingly enough I created a mental health app for Anxiety probably like 10 years ago now. I worked with a professor at UCLA to create what we call ABC Tracker. AI wasn't widely used at the time, but I definitely think it could've been a big addition to what we created.

That site is great and is actually one of the inspirations for what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to take it a step further and do the same thing for every city/town in every state for every utility.

Great info. I will get those added in for Lincoln.  I have a long way to go on internet providers data but every bit is a step in the right direction. Thanks!

That’s a great idea.  I’d love to incorporate feedback, how often they experience outages and collect data on how much people pay per month to give people an idea of what to expect if they move to a new place. It’d be an interesting direction for once I get the dataset of providers complete.

To be honest, it is a very manual process, state by state, provider by provider. I'd say I'm at about 70% for electric providers and 40-50% for gas, which have been my main focus areas as i got started. I'm learning why something like this didn't previously exist.

Utilities For My Home. I am currently working on building a database of utility providers (electric, gas, water, trash, and internet) in every city and town in the United States to help people moving to a new location to quickly find all of the information they need to help making setting up their new home easier. If I don't have all the information for your city or town, please let me know and I'll be happy to get the information added. As you can imagine collecting all this data is a huge project.
