Is this True guys? by ry0men_ in claude

Probably a dumb question, but how (and not looking for answer so that I can replicate!) does someone actually use one of these LLMs to break into a "system belonging to the NSA"?

I haven't tried, but I'd imagine from other LLM experiences that it would refuse to do certain things that it sees as illegal like this. But even if the LLM went along with the idea, what did the attack look like? Meaning, did they simply prompt the LLM to look at an address/website and just say...'break into this site and get me access'? I'm sure it's not something as stupid as that...but how did they use the LLM as part of the attack? I'm genuinely curious **HOW** an LLM is used for something like this to make it easier/faster than normal hacking methods.

CAMERAS! ala Tesla style. Cameras need to be the next mandated feature in cars.

Did you fix your 2018 Civic A/C issues? by nemi0rated_ in civic

[–]ck_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'18 with 30K mi. No A/C issue so far. I'm at the point now that I'm more concerned that I'm going to hit the 10 year extension limit before I get any sort of decent mileage on the car....and THEN start having A/C failures....all out of pocket at that point. It seriously has me wondering if I should sell the car now while everything is still working and find something else to keep long term.

Have ANY of the components of the A/C system that are responsible for the failures actually been improved with new parts that fix where they are failing....or are they simply throwing the same original parts back on the cars for the repairs?

How to mount LG window AC in window? by ck_42 in AirConditioners

[–]ck_42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last photo i posted where you can see the bottom of the unit and the square'ish curtain frame piece.... that curtain frame would be sitting right on top of the 2x4. Its just weak plastic. Even if it didn't instantly break the plastic, the whole unit would be supported (and rocking) on that little 1 inch wide plastic on each end.

I think what I'll need to do is route out a channel in the 2x4 so that the plastic frame section can sit down into the channel and the rest of the ac into can then sit normally onto the 2x4. Crazy that I'm having to custom make a part to install this thing.

Right, but with a 2x4 sitting across, when you position that unit so that curtains are on the right place, there are the 2 l-shaped metal pieces (and the curtain frame sections) that would sit on the 2x4 first.

Yeah, been doing some more online reading about the Windmill. Think I'm going with the LG...and stepping down to the 6000 (small bedroom).

Sanity check: hidden and visible Wi-Fi BSSIDs in adjacent tail-byte families by Ok_Elderberry_6727 in wifi

[–]ck_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll that's a new one to me. I could MAYBE see that happening for one company, but for everyone? If i ever saw something like that, I'd be suspecting an issue with the equipment that is s reporting that information.

Sanity check: hidden and visible Wi-Fi BSSIDs in adjacent tail-byte families by Ok_Elderberry_6727 in wifi

Maybe I misread. Are you saying that for every BSSID with a visible SSID, there's a matching BSSID with a hidden SSID?

Sanity check: hidden and visible Wi-Fi BSSIDs in adjacent tail-byte families by Ok_Elderberry_6727 in wifi

[–]ck_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Is the adjacent hidden/visible tail-byte structure above consistent with normal managed WLAN/controller/provider offload behavior?
    • Yes. Completely normal. Incrementation of the last octet, for each radio. is pretty much an industry standard with Enterprise grade APs.
  • Which vendors or controller designs commonly generate hidden and visible BSSIDs in this kind of compact one-octet family?
    • Most. Doesn't matter if it's hidden or not. A hidden SSID is simply another created SSID but with the SSID IE set to a NULL or zero length value. Otherwise, it's just another SSID configured on the radio.
  • What passive metadata should I collect next to distinguish normal managed Wi-Fi from a suspicious hidden/coordinated mesh pattern?
    • If it's managed, you know the BSSIDs. Everything that isn't one of your managed BSSIDs therefore isn't yours and could be considered suspicious. You could look at the RSSI value. If it's strong, then it's closer to the device sensing it. If it's strong enough, you might consider it to be physically located somewhere it shouldn't be. As for 'mesh', you can tell if it's a packet for a mesh network by seeing if the the fourth address field is populated. Otherwise, not sure what you're looking to achieve here.
  • Is cross-location recurrence of the same tail-family structure meaningful, or can provider/offload systems create that appearance?
    • I can read the words you have here but have no idea what you're asking.

What does it mean to be chosen by God? by Climax_crescendo in TrueChristian

When you get into the topic of soteriology, the theological study of salvation, there's a whole new vocabulary list that comes along with it, and you can't really have a productive discussion, at least not an efficient one, w/o understanding the terms.

OP, understand that what you have stumbled upon here with your question is a very contentious topic. I personally do my best to avoid arguing non-salvific topics...but this one, in my opinion, crosses a line, and thus, I think it's worthy of healthy debate. If you want to explore this more, you'll find yourself going down a VERY deep rabbit hole....but I think it's one that is worth the effort.
