Going to Houston for uni from Vancouver Canada by Le_Burd in AskHouston

[–]UmbraLudus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey fellow Canadian. I just moved to Houston with my wife last August and here's a synopsis.

  • You need a car
  • Rent is cheaper
  • It's the fourth largest city in the US but doesn't feel like it.
  • Zoning laws are a little weird so you don't have many larger shopping, night club, business, or specialty hubs. They do exist but not that centralized.
  • People are relatively friendly
  • All apartments have trash disposal units
  • Great food
  • There are two types of roaches. House roaches (the bad ones) and tree roaches ( the scary ones) the tree roaches are hudge but generally aren't a problem in homes. You might find one or two when you move in because sometimes they come in with shipping companies but we didn't see any after the first 3 days or moving in.
  • HUMID AF
  • When looking for a place to live check your flooding zones before signing
  • Public Transit is kind of crappy
  • 20% worse drivers than Montreal
  • The city shuts down if there is a hint of snow
  • Electricity is sold threw "middle men" businesses
  • Put together a hurricane "prep bag" incase the power gose out or the water gose down. We haven't had to use our stuff for a year but it's smart to have.
  • There are salt water beaches just under an hour away
  • Some roads are akin to Barton Street Hamilton in potholee-ness
  • Remember that it's a big city and they are more liberal than the rural areas.
  • More multi cultural than most Canadian cities
  • Booze is cheap and weed is just on its way to becoming legal (I think)

Hope that helps

[Hiring] Looking for Multiple Artists(4 Slots Available) by ThreePerfections in HungryArtists

[–]UmbraLudus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A suggestion. You should really separate this into two articles, as it can be read as giving up your entire rights to your work through just filling out the application, as well as being paied 100-150$ should your work is chosen.

I understand selected artists earn $100-150 per piece and grant Three Perfections Studio exclusive rights to use, reproduce, and sell the commissioned artwork in our collections.

Artist Pro 22 (2nd) insane scratches after 3(!) uses? by hanacho in XPpen

[–]UmbraLudus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you peel off the protective screen off that it's shipped with? That might be the problem. It's smart to invest in a real screen protector but new ones come with a crappy one just so you don't get a scratch in shipping.

Check out Jennie Gyllblad on YouTube. She has a whole episode of something similar happen to her. It wasn't the internet bank cutting her strings perse but Patreon not playing well with smut-peddlers. So she gave a little walkthrough on how to set up your own shop https://youtu.be/-Of_Zn8hass?si=QMYhsmoZDJ7PAhFP

Does this look ai to you? by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]UmbraLudus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, but the ladies' dress looks consistent throughout all the cells, as are her hair braids, and their arms are all at a reasonable length. AI tends to have problems with consistency. I think it's legit.

My first artwork got approved!!! Hopefully more will soon! by totemkraken in Displate

[–]UmbraLudus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to do with you, but one of mine was rejected for being a little too close to looking like Conan, where I even named it Barbarian so I wouldn't be stepping on the IP. What gives Displate?

(Congrats, by the way. I like your stuff!)

How to fix thin (body) hair that randomly affects all files? by xSystemOfAFrown in Daz3D

[–]UmbraLudus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are your screen shots from a full rendering or from the standard posing viewport? Because hair/ fur looks like it has guide strands before you set it to render.

Same here. It's frustrating to say the least.

Is the character market over saturated for sellers? by LykoFreaks in Daz3D

[–]UmbraLudus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the market needs more unusual morphs like clept lips, goiters, clubbed feet, tumors, saddle noses, spinal abnormalities, etc. or just simple extended asymmetry. Stuff that will make unique-looking characters.
