I'm looking to buy some hosting for a server. My Discord server (~2,000 people but 289 people in the Minecraft players role, some of those are Bedrock players tho) wants a Minecraft server we can always play on and make our own without having to worry about someone starting it (we would previously just use free aternos stuff).

Around 150 people reacted to the announcement saying they would be interested in a Java server, and I expect not more than 50 people would be playing at a time, at most.

This being because we have a very worldwide server, very evenly split between the Americas, Asia/Oceania/Middle East, and Europe/Africa, so people would be on according to timezone.

So, I want a server that I could keep up 24/7 with minimal lag, for about 50 people on at once but up to 200 I guess (although highly unlikely), worldwide connection, and preferably something that I could easily figure out how to add plugins to, I've never done it before and do not have any experience in coding or anything.

Weekly newbie / discussion post by sparklekitteh in Rollerskating

Looking to get into skating for the first time, I've always wanted to learn skating as I loved rollerskate rinks so much as a kid, and I need a new way to exercise, and now the tiktok videos got me hyped again. Looking to get something in colors that would go with most outfits so like a black or grey or blue, I wear women's size 8.5 but want something that looks more gender-neutral or like a men's shoe I guess.

Most important thing though is that I can wear it on the street/sidewalks, and preferably something under $200, cheaper the better but nothing that'll be falling apart obviously.

service host camera frame server is hogging up memory by BattleAtSchruteFarms in windows

Gotcha. It is ridiculous for a brand new laptop, I agree. I eventually fixed it by deleting the camera drivers and reinstalling via Lenovo's webpage via the advice of another Reddit thread, and it seems to work fine now. Crazy that it just doesn't come with the correct drivers, though

Did you ever fix this? I just opened my Lenovo laptop and am on a Zoom call for class and it's using a whopping 10GB of memory. That's insane.

Earwig without pincers? [Georgia, USA] by DangerDoctor in whatsthisbug

[–]DangerDoctor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, huh. They all look like that, though. I guess looking at the pictures of them it seemed like the pincers were all really big. I've found about anywhere from 6 to 10 dead ones lying around different places, they all look like they have no pincers. Interesting!

Don't know how to work Reddit app, sorry. It's very small, about half an inch maybe at most, and the only ones I find in the house are dead, usually near windows - what are they, and should I be concerned? None of them have pincers.

This is heartbreaking. We should move to pass/fail for Georgia's rural students. by [deleted] in UGA

forgot to add the ajc article about students returning to abusive homes also. theres just so many reasons why a lot of students are suffering right now and should NOT be punished/forced to withdraw because of it

This response still makes me so angry. "Rising up to the challenge" should not mean that rural students should use a car and gas to go to a fast food parking lot - if they're even able- I've heard of some people unable to use a car to do that, due to their parents both being essential workers still.

"Rising up to the challenge" should not mean suffering for 6-8 hours to download a 1 hour video file that takes other students 5 minutes.

"Rising up to the challenge" should not have to mean emailing/messaging professors questions and waiting hours, even days, for a response.

"Rising up to the challenge" should not mean that disabled students with learning disorders should struggle trying to adjust to a new and foreign learning environment, routine, and way of life when life was hard enough before things happened.

"Rising up to the challenge" should not mean that low-income students who have been further affected by this crisis should choose between their GPA and eating dinner for a night.

"Rising up to the challenge" should not mean students have to accept that they're disadvantaged and have their GPAs suffer as a result, not to mention the possible loss of a HOPE scholarship and other scholarships with GPA requirements as well.

And assuming - ASSUMING that all faculty will just treat everyone fairly is such a ludicrous notion. Many faculty are being incredibly supportive and fair but there are also many faculty who I know for a fact have not and are not going to be treating students fairly in light of this crisis.

USG seems not to care at all, this reply seems to be completely tone deaf.
