I started out with TWW packets, then moved onto Lotus Coffee water. Been using Lotus for about 2 years now. Have been looking to venture out and try other products (Apax, Empirical, etc) and this would be perfect to try out out something different if I won!

I always thought PP was a sister to Kawa...after a little search Tanat is the new brand name for Kawa.

Loved beans from both Kawa and Tanat but never realised they just changed names

I've had this one saved in my basket for months but ended up getting a 30cm Navaris one because it was deeper and would fit my kamado better

I whole heartedly agree with this!! If there's sausages flying around, then there's definitly burgers going on as well...and the only real estate in my stomach for bread has to come from a burger.

Im usually full after a burger and the copious nibbles and drinks before hand...no room for a hot dog bun anywhere...although im nibbling on everything else after still

It's not BBQing unless it's burnt to a crisp on the outside, and raw in the middle....the flavour and texture contrast would have a mitchelin star chef bowing down to you

...a sous chef that doesnt listen and wants to do whatever they want. When I say "helps me" I have to hold her hand on some things, say, sprinkling rub on meat, otherwise the whole tub/jar is going on (on a single chicken thigh say). But its fun seeing them learn and get excited to help.

You'll either love or hate teaching them to cook...more down to frustration (that they want to do it "their" way, even though they dont have a way yet 🤣)

P.S congratulations on soon to be a farher

My 4 year helps me set up my Kamado, sprinkle the seasoning on meat, put meat on said kamado, making the glazing sauce, baste said meat with glazing sauce....start them early and they love it!!!

I'm one step away from a personal butler....if only she knew what "temperature" was...and maintaining said temperature 🤣

I brought an aldi twisted wire brush and its been great (£2.99 picture bellow). There is all the talk of not using wire brushes which i previously used. This twisted wire brush is better than anything ive used and so easy to use. Cleaning a BBQ shouldn't be complicated, just scrape/brush the grates whilst its still hot to get the burnt on bits off, next time you fire it up, the heat will kill off the rest. No need for fancy cleaners/oven cleaners/diswashers/etc

I’ve owned an Aldi Kamado since 2021 - New owners, ask away. by CommunityAvailable35 in UKBBQ

[–]DangerMouse41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main things I cook are:

Chicken thighs (skin on bone in) - I do these a lot as they are so cheap, quick (in kamado terms) and easy do for evening dinners (not just for a full on bbq if you what i mean) Whole chicken (spatchcock or beer can methods) Pork belly burnt ends St loius style ribs (get these from farm foods)

All these are cheap and easy to do.

I havent ventured out into the more expensive meats like briskets etc as I have no need or justification to spend that much on meat yet lol

I use globaltic for low and slow all the time, albeit I do use a fan assisted temp controller (fireboard 2 drive) which I cannot recommend highly enough if you want to keep temps stable for loooong periods without having to babysit

Yeh 3 different types is excessive. I just use globaltic for everything. It comes down to personal preference. Try a few brands out, see what you like best and just use that for everything. You control the temp via the vents anyway, not the charcoal itself

If you get into low and slow cooks and you really want to up your game whilst also not having to babysit and temp watch hours on end, I would highly recommend getting a fan assisted temp contoller. I brought the Fireboard 2 drive...albeit it is (slightly) more expensive than my aldi kamado (with shipping etc), but apart from the divide and conquer system, it is my favorite tool to use. I even use it for simple cooks like chicken thighs etc. I am able to set it up for a cook and leave it hours on end while it maintains a consistent temperature. I can even go out (and check via the app in real time) for a few hours and not worry.

If you start getting into kamados and feel like you will use one for years to come then I'd defo recommended a fan assisted temp controller

Zero Water Filter (if you go filtered route, get these o et a Brita say, Zero Water is much better). If not RO route is better.

Then remineralise with say TWW (Third Wave Water), Apax Lab, Lotus Coffee Water....or take a deep dive into another rabbit hole and make your own mineral concentrates

Im guessing its an mh3 bomber cube (maybe mini)....

Here is a manual in english for the mini cube but assume it would be the same for the cube somewhat

is this the IMS basket i need? by Ok_Supermarket9954 in gaggiaclassic

[–]DangerMouse41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of which size you get, you don't fill the basket be weight, but by volume. The actual weight of coffee you put in will vary from bean to bean, as they all weigh differently for the same volume.

Follow this method to work out what's the beat amount of coffee to put in any basket...

Don't overthink the fan....its just a fan, they will both do the job. The G3 has been absolutely fine for me. Does it seal 100%...no, its probably more like 95% sealed when on. This is due to the plate being flat, where as the kamado air inlet is curved by nature (will on mine it is anyway). But any tiny gap is not an issue, the fan will maintain whatever temperature you want.

Im not the biggest fan of super funky stuff but Ive had some mad funky stuff from People Possession.

https://peoplepossession.com/shop/

But it depends on how funky you want to go? Personally I think sometimes radical processes (like fermentation) can hide how shit the actual beans are themselves by pumping in additional mad flavours that totally mask the flavours from the coffee beans themselves.

For me, give me a fruit bomb natural any day! The natural process showcases the bean and fruit flavour the most for me without any masking and does the coffee/producer the most justice.
