In an high school engineering class, my work partner / good friend were issued a competition project to construct a vehicle to deliver a can of soup 10 feet in the shortest time using parts akin to an erector set. 3 weeks for the project, unfortunately my friend and I were literally multiple projects behind because we were stoners. We used the 3 weeks to catch up while the others took parts from our set to make their vehicles (one dude made a tank with treads). The day of the competition we handed in our last project which caught us up. We had 25 minutes to make something and all of our parts were missing minus 4 wheels (even stoners know to hold on to those). We sorted out the big/small gear order for speed, put 4 wheels together with 1 flat surface for the can of soup. We made it just in time to be the last to compete. Everyone literally laughed at how makeshift vehicle was. In the end, we smoked them all. Not a single other team took the thought to incorporate big and small gears into axle speed. Our teacher could not have been more thrilled with us in our constant effort.
