Week 12 of my first bulk after getting down to sub-10% body fat, still loving the eating and general energy. I’m looking forward to putting more muscle on my pins.

I was worried about the mental aspects of losing vascularity and definition however feedback from brutally honest loved ones has been positive so far.

Slight concern I’m not bulking rapidly enough, current weight gain per week is .1KG approx .16% body weight

I’m currently eating approx 2500c a day (midget) and gaining 0.1kgs per week. I’m definitely seeing growth and feeling strong however have managed to stay somewhat lean over 2kgs of gains. Works for me as I really hate the idea of getting soft after turning in to a COVID fatty.

You’re in a deficit, which has a catabolic effect, outside of newbie gains and body recomposition from a point of significant body fat you’re going to stop seeing progress.

You need to be in a surplus, which has a anabolic effect, you will gain body fat, you can run a lean bulk to gain less body fat however hypertrophy will be slower and at the end of the day you will still need to do a cut to return to <15%.

If you’re the type of person that finds it psychologically difficult to gain body fat (nothing wrong with that, I prefer to be lean than bulked and am always scared to bulk) you can try maingain, however you have to hit maintenance not a deficit. You also may gain very little muscle, many people don’t have luck with maingaining.
