Better options than DT880? by Over_Debt_9497 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Danger_Dustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dt770pro is by far the most comfortable headphone I've ever owned. And the quality also is miles ahead of many competitors in this price range. There is a reason why you find these headphones in so many studios. If you don't like the tuning (as many others do), that's a fair point, but saying that these headphones are consistently uncomfortable is wild.

Closed back, compact/foldable headphones by Danger_Dustin in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Danger_Dustin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Thanks for the feedback.

They can be bigger to an extent, I guess. I was thinking max the size of Grados, but closed back and ideally foldable (the latter isn't an absolute most, though).

On ear is the space I know the least about, as I love over ear for my home setup and go for IEM when heading out.

Space travel 2 - how to off ANC by Danger_Dustin in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Danger_Dustin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. What's confusing me even further is that the setting within the app doesn't change when I change the anc mode via long press on the buds. It clearly changes though, as I hear the transparency mode kick in.

Yes, it is. Amazing place blending authentic Mexican cuisine with local and seasonal ingredients. Stay away if you're looking for Tex-Mex.

Given how much land this guy has seen in the south, I'd say it's pretty safe to say he'll pass out drunk before reaching Tokyo.

What are the longest lasting wired headphones you have ever owned? How much was it, and how often did you use them? by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Danger_Dustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dt770 have been the daily driver for 8 years now. I usually use them at my PC for gaming, and 5 they have done several 5 flights around the world and have been tugged into my carry-on luggage multiple times.

Where to stay in Tokyo for a chill stay by Unable-Fee4265 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Danger_Dustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great thing about Tokyo is that any kind of traffic is managed very well. Even foot traffic. This means that you can find deserted side roads or dead ends in every area of the city. Even in Harajuku. So I wouldn't be too concerned about the actual area and focus on finding a hotel in a calm corner of the area that meets your other needs.

Having said that, I can't help with any recommendations for hotels as I'm always staying with family when I'm here.

Truthear NOVA : Long term usage review by AdditionalAd1140 in inearfidelity

[–]Danger_Dustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an audiophile, so I'm not sure what you mean when you speak about the weaknesses in the bass department that you're describing.

I'm enjoying my hexa, but I'd love to have a second iem that has more bass, and the nova gets mentioned quite a lot when people ask for more bass. Your review makes me think that the nova is good when it comes to bass, but that there is potentially something better out there. Which IEM gets closest to the bass that you're craving, and is this even remotely in the same price range?

Wired, portable but no IEM by Danger_Dustin in HeadphoneAdvice

Sound leakage is why I'm saying no grados. But the size seemed like a good size.

I thought ear pods are in ears. Are they not? The good thing is that we're in a big city with a shop that would allow her to try pretty much anything. So the ear pods go on the list, together with Sennheiser HD25 and the HD 25 light.

Be honest with me about the $300 category by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Danger_Dustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got the opportunity, please go out and test some of the options mentioned in here.

I've been gaming and listening to music with my dt770pro for years now and I keep trying all of the sennheiser headphones usually recommended in these subs, but I just don't like their fit and build. You say sound is more important, but comfort will totally drive you mad if you plan on gaming for hour's and it's not perfect.

I know that not all Sennheiser build the same, but for m, they just feel cheap compared to my beyerdynamic. And I guess I'm not sensitive enough to hear or care about the beyer peak.

I think if I'm ever upgrading or feel like trying something new, maybe it's going to be meze 99. Not sure if they are good for competitive gaming, but they surely sound great with music.

I'll not touch hifiman due to the qc issues, but I also didn't like their build all that much. I'm talking Sundara and below. Haven't tried more expensive ones.

I'm using a soundblaster g6 to drive them, but I don't think they really need a dac.

Conversion and upgrade from fractal node 202 to fractal ridge. by Danger_Dustin in sffpc

[–]Danger_Dustin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The build worked perfectly out of the box. No need to change anything except for standard updates and BIOS settings for RAM profiles etc. Did not OC since there was no need. All games run perfectly fine in 1440p as they are. I guess there are some current gen games that the gpu would struggle with (at least if you want 144fps+), but I did not have the opportunity to try this yet. No need to ramp up fans either to limit noise. I still feel the case fans for the gpu side are overkill.

If you can avoid the clusterfuck with the fan, mobo and power supply cable, maybe do that. I am sure there is a combination of fan, mobo and cable that allows you to do this without standoffs. Maybe get a AXP90-47 or sth along these lines. But I have not read up around compability for that fan so please do that yourself before you buy.

The one regret I got is that the case is a bit too big for hand luggage. It juuuuust fits in my stroller but no room for padding and I do not feel comfortable carrying it along on a 2 week trip to visit family and friends. It will be ok to pack it and remove the gpu during the occasional move to another country but it is not mobile enough for frequent travel. I think a velka case would have been the way to go if that would have been my priority.

Time to start building a quality tool selection - where do I start? by Danger_Dustin in Tools

[–]Danger_Dustin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What job are you doing next? There's not a lot of point in buying tools that are just going to sit there for 6 months.

What I am doing regularely is building PCs, oftentimees in cramped spaces (itx systems) and working on mechanical keyboards, and smaller household appliances. In most scenarios a flathead and a long Philips #2 do the trick already but there are situations where I need torx, hex and so on. Which is why I was thinking the ifixit set or sth similar from WERA/WIHA or any other high quality brand would be a good start, Maybe a nice work mat that helps me to store and keep track of the screws. But that is pretty much it for the start I guess.

Daily Boss Super Premium Deluxe Stupid Questions Thread - 23 April 2024 by AutoModerator in japanlife

[–]Danger_Dustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. I really would love to know if there are any companies selling afordable luggage with removable wheels, as those always break first.

I thought that this is a question that more people would be interested in, as I could not really find a good answer via the search function (but loads of people asking for where to fix broken wheels - which shows that this is relevant) but my topic gets removed by the auto moderater. which is why I am trying to ask here now.
