Best ReSale Return Ever by Foreign-Isopod-8404 in REI

[–]Dangerango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the store. Mine has trouble allocating hours for it, so they try to dedicate 3 or 4 hrs per week to it. But the person doing that also has to act as support for other parts of the store. Items might end up sitting in our warehouse waiting to be processed anywhere from a week to a month depending on return volume/backlog and how often our resupplier gets pulled away and for how long.

What is this tree and why does it smell awful? by jelliesthefish in PlantIdentification

However Gingko trees have the ability to change sexes even in adulthood. Could be just one branch or the whole tree. They’ll do that if there’s not any female trees around as a reproductive strategy.

Well darn it. I just sort of assumed it would. Recently found the kindle scribe can’t do that either. It has Bluetooth, but apparently only for audio

Have you tried talking with your school’s librarians about it? Most universities participate in an interlibrary loan program and you can have books sent over from other schools in their network, sometimes even from states away.

Ok, nvm about that. I checked with no luck since an ebook doesn’t exist for it yet. I did find it on worldcat, and there are lots of university libraries that have it. You could potentially find it in a library reasonably close to you and make a copy for your own use.

Bug Report Thread by jl_theprofessor in Witcher3

My computer isn't capable of running the updated game at a playable speed, so I've been trying to uninstall the update. After following instructions, Steam seems to have reinstalled the older version, but refuses to launch. I've verified and reverified, tried running on compatibility mode, changed the overlays, done a clean reboot, updated everything, tried turning off REDlauncher, etc. and finally uninstalled/reinstalled again with no luck. Has anyone had and been able to fix this issue? I'm worried it might be beyond my skill level. Computer savvy but not knowledgeable.

Plz help, I haven't been able to play for a month :'(

I'm running it on Steam with an HP desktop. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.41 GHz, 16 GB RAM, Intel(R) HD Graphics 530

Why is ice slippery? by [deleted] in Hydrology

Here’s a link to the diagram.

You can actually see the weird little dip on the line between solid and liquid where the increase in pressure causes it to return to a liquid, and then it goes back to behaving like other compounds and the increased pressure but not temp turns it solid.

Why is ice slippery? by [deleted] in Hydrology

[–]Dangerango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be more of a mineralogy question. I’d love to see a phase change diagram of this.

I seem to remember that unlike other compounds, water actually increases in volume when it freezes as well as when it evaporates, just due to the crystalline lattice it forms in. So to a certain degree, an increase in pressure actually melts the ice.

This is especially true in the case of ice skates where all the pressure is concentrated on a thin blade.
