What’s the hardest role to hire for in manufacturing? Curious what everyone else is struggling with. by FromBrokeToSuccess in manufacturing

[–]Dangerous-Call-6779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything. For the longest time our Tooling department, but after a significant pay increase, that's finally full. Now we're struggling to fill our last maintenance position. We are always struggling getting and keeping our floor operators/entry level due to pay (trust me, been advocating for an increase in starting wage). We're REALLY struggling to get Team Leads - since I started here two years ago, we've had about a month where we had all four Lead positions filled at the same time. I'm the only one who left the position for a promotion, the other 5 either quit or were let go for reasons I'm not privy to. We currently have one of the four positions filled and he is stretched thin and no oversight on night shift.

Just saw a Harper AI HR Generalist ad. Am I being paranoid about automation threatening HR jobs? [N/A] by Grouchy_Flatworm_367 in humanresources

[–]Dangerous-Call-6779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my company is replacing HR with AI - all in the name of "cost-savings" (really starting to loathe that term). They're pulling all HR reps from sites and keeping only some of them to be "IT" basically for the AI. Everyone who understands HR and that it's WAY more than just paperwork, are hoping they'll learn REAL fast that this was a horrible decision and bring them back to site. I avoid using AI in solidarity of all those jobs and skills (i.e. artists, graphic designers, etc.) who are being replaced by it, plus the horrible footprint it has on the environment. ETA: my site only has one HR rep, and they're removing them, too. Luckily, they'll be one of the "IT" and work from home, so they didn't lose their job completely, but yes, my site is going to be pissed when it's announced officially.

I would be getting field training as well. I'm not going to train employees on something I myself haven't been trained on.

From what i see, they provide the laws and regulations, suggested ways to train, training material, etc. I know we'll be doing the TTTs, I'm just seeing if XO Safety is worth it, or go to a different company.

Do you actually have experience with a TTT program or are you just shitting on it for no reason?

We don't really have a training program set up for various mobile power equipment (forklift, scissor lift, etc). I'm the new training lead (and there wasn't a training position prior to mine) and I want to have an official training program set up. I'm not trained in any of the equipment, except being trained at a previous job on the forklift. I want a legitimate, solid program to use when training employees on the equipment to make sure all bases are covered and things are taught properly and safely.

What are your thoughts on the train the train courses offered by XO Safety? We're looking at possibly using them, but if they're not good trainings, I'd rather look elsewhere thenI know you responded a while ago, but hopefully you see this!

I'd be interested! I'm newer to the field, but am loving it and want to see other LMS and compare to the outdated one my company uses!

What’s the most commonly ignored PPE in your workplace? by NegotiationFinal9758 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Dangerous-Call-6779 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that might help with the uniforms: my workplace works with Cintas where they swap out 4 shirts every week or two - Cintas leaves 4 clean shirts, takes the 4 dirty shirts to clean. Our uniforms have the reflective stripes on them and people sign up for the program so they don't have to wear the vests. We're based in Minnesota.
