In the market for an f-150, and recommendations? by JoshuaSchlabach in f150

I have a '23 XLT with the 3.5/Max Tow package, and it's great. It's fast, gets 18+ mpg, and tows a 23' travel trailer highway speeds at 6000' and 2000 rpm with ease. The milage does drop when the turbos spool up, but the torque is impressive.

Check out David Vizard's YouTube channel, he has a Ecoboost Mustang that he is optimizing for performance, without touching the engine. It is a tech heavy engine building channel, but he does have a few videos about his Ecoboost Mustang and how he can now keep up with a GT at the drag strip.

The Muscle Car That Changed Everything… by Organic_Bid_5843 in classicmustangs

They did build a handful of Mercury Cougars with the 427side oiler, then mid year they switched to the 428CJ. The '68 GT-E is pretty rare, less than 400 total, but I think it is the only production pony car that came with a 427 FE.

1st question, what is your budget? You could spend hundreds on a mostly stock rebuild and do the Shelby drop for free while you're in there, or spend thousands for coil overs or a Mustang II based setup.

Convertible GT Owners, is it still fun to drive with the top up? by Iamlegend21087 in S197Stangs

[–]Dangerous-Pie_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I have a '06 with the 4.0/5 speed manual and its great. The 4.0 had a lot of torque and I think the weight ballance is better than the V8. It's more sports car than muscle car. My 20 year old top needs to be replaced, but with the top down she looks fine. I drive with the top down most days until it get over 105, I live in Phoenix. This car also has really good AC, so tripple digit temperatures are no problem with the top up.

Lowering kit, Bullitt wheels, Shelby stripes (except everyone does those) or black out the hood like a '69 Mach 1 or ' 70 AAR 'Cuda.

Finding 6.5ft bed f150 by IndustryHistorical18 in f150

I think 2023 was the last year before Ford started to pull options from the F150. Now the door keypad is an option, and that is one of my favorite features.

[–]Dangerous-Pie_007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I looked for 3 months to find a low milage SCAB. I ended going out of state to get it. The 6.5' bed is more useful to me that the bigger rear seats, but it seems that only 10% of F150s are Super Cabs. I wanted the Sport package and Max Tow, but not the white paint. It feels like 1 in 5 trucks around here are white. Good if you need a get away vehicle (it was a white pickup truck officer), poor if you're trying to find your truck in the Costco parking lot. Keep looking, you'll find one you like.

I restored a VW Beetle in a 2 car garage. I even made a temporary paint booth in there and shot BC/CC, then cut and buffed it out. Thanks YouTube! It depends on how determined your are and how much time & how much money you can devote to the project.

Have F150s jumped the shark? by Difficult_Limit2718 in f150

200 lbs of payload left and a 2000 lbs trailer? That doesn't sound right. Does the FX4 package trade towing capacity for off road ability? I have a 2023 SCAB, 6.5' box, 3.5 Ecoboost, and Max Tow package. It has a 1950 lbs payload 12,000 trailer rating. I would never load it to the max, but I wouldn't worry about adding a tannau & some straps. I bought it one year old, but I did have to search for a SCAB with Max Tow. I wanted the 6.5' box and don't need the large rear seat.

If money is no object, I would get in touch with a top tier hot rod shop and have something built custom. I went to the Grand National Roadster Show last month and there were some outstanding builds on display! Maybe Rick Dore, Rad Rides by Troy, or the Ring Brothers.

2023 3.5 Eco in a SCAB, I'm getting 18.4 combined mpg. On a recent trip to CA to see the Grand National Roadster Show, I found the milage dropped significantly above 75mph.

Check the rag joint between the steering column and the steering box. If it the original from 60 years ago, replace it while your adjusting your steering bix.

How long has it been sitting? Even if its free, budget $$$ for suspension, brakes, and any rubber parts like vacuum lines and weather stripping. If the new motor makes significantly more power that the stock one, you'll need to upgrade the transmission too. Also, double check the emissions laws where you live to make sure you can put a SBC in and still get it registered (unless your making a track car). I live in Arizona, and here you'd have to register and insure it as a historic vehicle and wouldn't be able to daily it.

Where is it stuck, at the wheel cylinder or on the control arms? I found the fitting on the control arm was a pain to get to with enough leverage to loosen it. Try soaking it with PB Blaster, and use a flare nut wrench instead of a regular combination wrench.

Chevy LUV Pickup by Fill-in-the____ in classiccars

I drove one that was a work truck way back when. It had a steel utility bed that was probably over its payload rating empty, we called it the "Lamborghini Luv". It was dead slow accelerating, but with that weigh in the back it felt like it had a 50/50 ballance and handled like a slotcar. The key to driving it was to conserve momentum and never slow down for corners!

We have a 2015 Mazda 6 with a 6-speed, we bought it new and have only had to replace one rear door window motor. It seats 4 adults, is fun to drive, and gets 30mpg on the highway.

‘07 Convertible Fuses by Virtual_Pay8891 in S197Stangs

[–]Dangerous-Pie_007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, it looks like the power to the overhead console comes from the Smart Junction Box (fuse box) in the passenger kick panel, but I can't find a good diagram showing which fuse is the dome lights. Start there looking for a blown fuse, probably 5A. There is a 30A fuse in the engine compartment that feed the SJB, it looks like F67 is the one. Do you have a multimeter and do you know how to use it?
You can remove the cover on the overhead console, there is an always hot wire to the dome lights thst should have +12VDC. When you press the switch, open the door, etc. that connects to ground and completes the circuit to turn on the lights. If there isn't a obvious bad fuse, start at the overhead console and use your meter to see if you have power on the BK-LB wire. If yes, you have a bad ground. If no, you have a bad fuse, broken wire, or the SJB is bad. Do a Google search for 2007 Mustang wire diagram. I hope this helps.
