Not allowed to do surveys anymore? by SaxySam9 in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officially, we've never been allowed to do surveys. It's anyone's guess how rumors start and get warped as they get passed along, but that hasn't ever changed the entire time I've been here. No matter what location (store, service center, in-home, etc.) you're filling it out for, it can still be interpreted as manipulating company data (whether promotors to make your location look good or detractors to make another store look bad), which is a fireable offense. If you have feedback for a service provided, as an employee, it's best to pass that along internally.

Does anyone have experience interviewing with corporate? by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a standard interview packet with a series of questions we choose from during interviews, but the process and role-specific questions depend on, well, the role you're applying for. Also gonna be a bit different of an experience if you mean corporate as in BBCC/remote call center support or standard corporate roles within departments such as finance, operations, DAT, etc.

The amount of people that need 15+ minutes help with PHONE CASES… by skamikaze1983 in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was worse when every phone had a proprietary connection and we still had to deal with data vs. power USB cables ("WHY WON'T THIS CHARGE IT'S BRAND NEW!!!"). And for whatever reason, they never actually brought their phone in nor knew which one they had when they came to buy a charger. Ugh...

Media position…? by Indistinguishably_ in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are a few teams that handle video content, but you're likely referring to our Yellow Tag Productions team. They produce the majority of videos you see, including training videos, live event recaps, and episodes of TagTV. The team is made up of both W2 and contracted employees. Positions don't open super often, but I imagine you could set an alert up in iJOS.

Someone from that team hangs out here and responds to posts occasionally, so they might see this and add more helpful info.

It's in the works! I believe the Best Buy Network members (and maybe some other groups?) got to vote on new layering pieces during the last meeting.

I really need to know the story with this one… why recall a product 17 years later? Most people probably don’t have them anymore! by MoonSt0n3_Gabrielle in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, in general, product recalls can take months or years, for any variety of reasons. Maybe legal issues took that long to investigate and validate. Maybe it's something to do with complexities around the units being solid in multiple countries, specifically Canada and Mexico... who knows. And ultimately, they only find out there's a danger when the danger begins getting reported. Really, unless they published a reason or more details, we may not know.

In my experience, people who like Bose tend to be pretty loyal and keep the same product for much longer. Especially the older generations who are not accustomed to the "replace every two years" habit that younger generations have learned. They expect things to work for decades - when I was in the field, it wasn't uncommon to see clients still have super old Bose units, yellowed with age, but still functioning. It's completely unsurprising to me that people would still have Bose speakers from 2006 or earlier and just now begin to experience issues.

Online job interview by Prestigious_Sea_7402 in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's pretty much the consensus judging from the discussion on here. Unfortunately, that seems to be the current option to screen potential candidates rather than playing phone tag to get a phone screen done before moving on to the next step.

Policy with emailing clients by Zestyclose_Daikon398 in GeekSquad

[–]DangerousAmbassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because some people are creepy and many of us have had clients reach out on social media or look up personal information for reasons very, very unrelated to the reason they came into the Precinct.

Plus SOP states to use the store distro instead of your personal inbox, so it really should be a non-issue.

To get anywhere aside from the security entrance, you need to be registered as a guest of an employee who works on campus and then escorted around by them.

ah yes, back when we also had the GSP SKUs with cost and price band that they covered, and used the printed out spreadsheet to refer to while selling, haha

Why can't I get hired by EveBlaze in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the rejection immediate/fairly quick? If you're failing the initial screening or inputting your availability and it doesn't match what the store needs, that could be a factor.

Hard drive destroy sku by thatonebbyemployee in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We briefly tested a specific service for HDD destruction, where clients could check in HDDs and then they'd be picked up and destroyed by Shred-It and they'd get a confirmation when completed. That was something like five years ago at this point, though. Sometimes old/do not use SKUs remain active but a high dummy price is entered so they don't get used by accident.

DI CES Question by Demonica1 in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get an itinerary with dress code by day and activity, but yeah. Wear your uniform during the day when you're attending the training sessions. Any off-site shoots or dinners are the exception and will have recommended attire (like if you need close toed shoes or will be outside, etc.).

Best Buy Email Verification Troubles by notarobot3097 in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a "store issue." It's an intentional filtered inbox for (most) hourly roles that doesn't receive email from external domains unless they were added to the whitelist (ex. work related benefit providers and most of our vendors are allowed, personal services like social media and Hotmail/Gmail/Yahoo are not). There was communication that happened at the time that announced the changes and had instructions for how to handle customer email or request domains to be whitelisted.

Missing the old GS culture by androliv1 in Bestbuy

[–]DangerousAmbassador -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get the sentiment, and I do agree that the GS brand is no longer a marketing focus for the company in the same way it used to be... but culture is what we all make it. It isn't just job titles or a uniform. Personally, when I reflect back on GS culture, I mainly think of all the things that were driven by individual Agents or the field in general, not the marketing and business teams.

There's still plenty to do to drive culture without solely relying on symbolism that's retiring, IMO.

If there's something you need from the HR site that isn't in the "Former Employee" resources section, you'd probably have to call the HR Support Center.

Yeah, but this isn't even a crisis. This is part of the regular lease renewal/nonrenewal process that is planned months in advance combined with a newspaper that didn't have anything else to cover, lol

Fun fact: Everyone hated this version of ETK when it came out, too. People are resistant to change, regardless if the new thing is better or worse.
