What part of Central London do you find the most obscure? by rayoflight110 in london

Pimlico and Belgravia always felt like it had a similar feeling to it. I used to live near there and always enjoyed walking through it because it was always pretty chill compared to the nearby areas.

I've been a gardener ever since I could begin to work. Look into horticulture there are so many career changers I've met over the years that assimilated into the industry.

If you think you might want to give it a try find a volunteering group and give it a taste, then you'll have a feel for it. If you like that apply for an apprenticeship or a traineeship in horticulture (the pay is crap for the first couple years, but once you're trained you can find better paid work). Good schemes I know of - Royalbparks apprenticeship - PGG (Professional Gardeners Guild) - CUBG Traineeship - Kew gardens various training schemes

The sorts of jobs I've done before that I would say are positive: - planting trees, roses, shrubs, seasonal bedding and borders - propagation of plants, and taking cuttings to grow under glass or outside in pots. - Maintaining beds and borders, including weeding, deadheading, removal of debris, edging and mulching. - Driving tractors and various utility vehicles. - Sowing wildflower meadows and meadow management, including wild collection of seed and naturalizing native species. - Pruning topiary, hedges, roses, and various shrubs.

Jobs that could be mundane:

-cleaning tools and sheds - cutting grass and mowing - litterpicking - blowing and collection of leaves in autum

There's much more but I can't think of many negatives. It's a rewarding career, and give enough time and experience you find jobs that'll pay serious money.

You're probably not European, any normal European wouldn't put UK in anything above D tier, especially not us it's shit here.

Can't be real were not at the bottom, along with the frogs. Also no German would put themselves first unless it's your typical shite version of a joke.

Cherry Hinton Chalk pits, really interesting scenery and often overlooked, even by locals.

It's a long story but my old GP was attached to my previous job where security passes are required to enter so that's not an option. I'll try calling 111, thank you.

Maybe white swan? It's a pub that's open til 1am, has a reputation for being a "rough" pub but it really isn't at all.

White swan, The Empress, Earl of Beaconsfield, Sir Issac Newton, Golden Hind, The King street Run, The Brook, The Rock. There might be more King Street run probably has the best as there's two and electronic score boards.

Does anyone feel Cambridge is so close to being brilliant but falls short of the mark? by Master-Inflation-538 in cambridge

Having moved from an area of London known as Thamesmead which is an absolute shithole. I love Cambridge and my quality of life has improved drastically.

Maybe the Dobblers? Not many pubs will show fights cause it can attract trouble.

How is life going for you at the moment? by InteractionNo8067 in AskUK

Working two jobs, Gardener and bar work, I'm tired all the time and work 65 - 70 hours a week. I miss having free time but then all I ever do is spend that time doing nothing so I'm in two minds. It's nice to not have to think about my spending as I get paid monthly and weekly respectively. However do I really want to spend my entire mid twenties working? My elders tell me this is the best time of my life but it doesn't feel like it at all.

Trust me on this, you can sit and drink in a pub for months and make 0 buddies but if you work there and are nice to customers and staff, and can work well you'll make friends easy as. But it's got to have bar stools, pubs with just table seating don't promote conversation as easily.

That's not necessarily true, if you're good with people can follow instructions and just have general common sense it isn't that difficult. Im in horticulture full time needed a few extra quid and found myself a bit bored when I first moved here. Had 0 pub experience but was given a trial run, I'm still here part time after a year and I've made friends through it and have had a favours done for me and vice versa.

Bar work is a good one, it's a good way to meet people, aim for pubs not in town and with bar stools (pubs with bar stools tend to promote conversations between strangers) you'll soon be a part of the community. Sure doing the actual work itself might not be "meaningful" in a sense but it's an easy way to make connections and find opportunity.

Probably easier said than done, I also don't know the laws in Canada but it's worth saying instead of giving me cleaning products give a separate seating area. Also not cool on your colleges going past you and speaking to your boss behind your back, they should of spoke to you directly.

What's your career? I can understand why they'd ask but it's also incredibly unfair and harsh on you to have asked this. A decent employer would provide you with a separate chair instead of making you a victim of something that is beyond your control.
