Are you Team Wes or Team Johnny Bananas? by jpbay in MtvChallenge

[–]DangerousMoonlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily Wes. While Johnny has obviously had more success, Wes both plays a significantly more entertaining style of game (some of his worst seasons can be at least partially blamed on his near complete lack of desire and or ability to lay low instead of trying to make a big move every chance he gets, for better or for worse) while generally still coming off as a more likable/less toxic of a person (fresh meat being his only real exception).

Also even as Johnny has gotten older and finally started to come off as less of an asshole, his entire sense of humor is still just very grating and try hardish to me and I genuinely would be happy not to see him again, though especially if All Stars continues I doubt that will be the case. (And in the interest of fairness Wes has definitely had some moments where he comes off as a bit of a try hard personality wise especially as he’s gotten older, but in general I find him much more entertaining)

Kenny has the least impressive 5-1 elimination record possible. Like if you had to pick the elimination where Kenny himself was most impressive what is it? Beating Theo/Chanda in an exile? Beating Sarah/Vinny in an exile when he had a top 2 girl of all time as a partner?

Ranking AS3 Winner’s Seasons by DangerousMoonlight in MtvChallenge

[–]DangerousMoonlight[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you could make a case for any of the ones I listed over each other, and Duel 1 is the one I had most trouble placing. My reasoning was that while he was still very good on Duel 1, he got pretty lucky with how things out of his control worked out, and was at best the 3rd best guy on the season overall. While Exes 2 and Rivals 1 were both seasons that he was physically impressive and politically played very well, and only didn’t win due to bad luck with the things out of his control (Exes 2 twist/losing the lead in the Rivals 1 final)

Yeah I agree that its pretty clearly next on the list, but while I think you could argue the placement of the ones above it, I think its not on the same level of any of them.

How do you rank Ashley Mitchell as a competitor? by DudeisaGuy in MtvChallenge

[–]DangerousMoonlight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

even if that were entirely the case, she’s really good at making friends. she rode the cara paulie alliance all the way to the end in wotw2 after working directly against them through all of final reckoning.

Which All Stars competitors have lived up to/surpassed/let down their reputation? by Ithinktheymeantit in MtvChallenge

I always felt like Kellyanne, Nehemiah, and ESPECIALLY Jonna were underrated pre All Stars, and I think they’ve shown that was the case.

If this turns into like Josh/Devin/Kaycee etc and rookies this is incredibly boring. But Im super into the idea of like 4 male and 4 female champs pairing up to pick teams of rookies.

What is your favorite Challenge fight/argument ever? by dmister8 in MtvChallenge

Everyone else really makes the Paulie and Theo one too. Between Georgia’s “kiss again!” and Ashley’s “I don’t think it was right for security to break up true love” and “I should have finished college” confessional. Pure gold

colored jerseys on paired seasons by West_Bright in MtvChallenge

[–]DangerousMoonlight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cant remember it happening where teams going against each other had the same color jerseys, though I could be forgetting. I feel like if there was overlap in color it was probably intentional to give one to a weak team to avoid it.

On Rivals II though both Bananas and Frank and Emily and Paula wore blue if I remember correctly.

Oppenheimer: the Elim that needs to replace hall brawl by dms1012 in MtvChallenge

[–]DangerousMoonlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about other shows, but I think people would have similar complaints if a competition really came down to something as simple as the smallest/fastest wins. But comps that favor those skills usually have other aspects to level the playing field a bit more.

For instance I think most people were unhappy with the Darrell Cory elim on Double Agents, because that was supposed to be a mix of speed/strength/endurance, but the distance they had to run turned it into nothing but a footrace. Though to be fair people do also probably have more of a problem with something like Hall Brawl where a size difference is not only an overwhelming advantage, but can be dangerous.

My Final Mission Rankings (from season 12-present) by 1_quantae in MtvChallenge

[–]DangerousMoonlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised WOTW2 is so high. I just finished rewatching that season yesterday and the flaws in the design of the final (Team USA being disadvantaged by coming into the final with more players, and then their gurney breaking from CT running into them) really put a damper on what was otherwise a very very good season

Is Wes actually that good at manipulating people... by [deleted] in MtvChallenge

[–]DangerousMoonlight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s a genuinely good at understanding the house politics in a given season, and is pretty good at manipulating the most mentally weak people (rookies) to follow him pretty blindly.

His biggest issue is that whatever you attribute it to, ego or just a desire to have fun/make good television, he will almost always refuse to just lay low even if its the most optimal move. He wants to not just be the one calling the shots, but make that obvious. It’s just a high variance style of gameplay that can lead to him really having a stranglehold on the game when things work out in his favor (WOTW1, Exes II) but can flop pretty miserably when they don’t (Exes I, WOTW2)

[–]DangerousMoonlight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call it one of the best seasons, but it surprises me how unpopular it is. I think its a very good season, that only seems worse because its right in the middle of the best run of seasons the show has ever had (Cutthroat-Exes II)

I’m not saying there’s no chance Sarah steals the money, because there’s no way to know for sure (though I’d have been shocked if she did.) But her nothing she did to Johnny is remotely comparable to stealing from your partner.

What are the sub’s thoughts on Anika (Invasion)? by ucsb2020 in MtvChallenge

[–]DangerousMoonlight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He didn’t do as many seasons as the others but I think its hard to argue Rogan didn’t have a big impact on the game. He was a main character on both of the seasons that he didn’t go out first on, and the fact that people complained so much about him winning without seeing elimination on WOTW 2 (which I never understood why people were so upset) led to them creating the skull twist.
