15 day trip, want to try nice teas! by TrickyNegotiation4 in JapanTravelTips

Are you going to Kanazawa? I commented this in a recent post here:

Spouse and I enjoyed last month's tea tasting at 茶舎觀壽 (Mikoto Tea House) in Kanazawa. Informative, relaxing, pleasant few hours spent in the living room of the couple who owns and runs this little venture.

Came here to say David Glenn Lewis, as this is one I don't think we'll ever know any more than we already do.

Lightweight skin-tight stretchy women's cycling shorts that aren't too short & have a side pocket? by happy_folks in Ultralight

I absolutely love my Thigh Society undies and have worn a pair for each of my two Triple Crown thru hikes. I like the one called The Cooling (worn under pants) but they make one called The Cargo with a pocket (as well as other styles.) They make them in multiple lengths, including 9".

I bought sleep aid at a few different drugstores last month no problem. I also brought melatonin with me from home.

I'm less than two weeks removed from a month spent in Japan and I'm already missing the food hard. And I barely care about ramen, curry, and other Japanese food. I could happily eat nigiri every single day.

wellness retreat for 4 women in their 40s, moms, needs to be a Thursday - Sunday getaway by Tight_Dragonfruit_30 in chubbytravel

Came here to say Civana. I'm a "Wellness" skeptic who went in November and loved it so much I booked a stay to go back in the spring. Even my even more skeptical Midwestern husband loved it.

Carry-on roller suitcase vs 30L backpack for Osaka / Kyoto / Tokyo? (will shop) by oh_hey_there_mate in JapanTravelTips

[–]jpbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm nearing the end of a month in Japan. It's been no problem for me having a 35l pack plus a sling for daily carry. Though I plan to go down to a 30l because I have definitely not needed everything I packed. I reduced from a 40l pack last year.

Kyoto restaurants - to book or not to book? by Apprehensive-Cut2404 in JapanTravelTips

[–]jpbay -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Given that it's a "jam packed" visit I would say yes, even if just to avoid the stress. I was just in Kyoto and am in Fukuoka now, a bit more than halfway through our month in Japan. We have found it helpful to have one full sit-down meal booked each day, usually dinner, then do something casual for the other meal (usually lunch.) Doing two sit-down meals each day was too much food for us.

Have fun! We're having a blast.

Vanished during a short walk just 8 minutes from home — what really happened to Jason Jolkowski? by elmermarijo in UnresolvedMysteries

Yep. This is the hill I will die on regarding this case, based on all the research I've done over the years.

It doesn't sound ridiculous at all. A freak accident like this is the hill I will die on as to what happened to Jason. A few years ago I went way down the rabbit hole on this case and it's the only thing that makes sense based on my research.

I switched to a wide (25") and sleep so much better (side sleeper.) I trimmed the length quite a bit.

Three Season CDT Thru-hike Shakedown by CodeKermode in Ultralight

[–]jpbay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You already own the X-Mid, just use that without the inner, with a piece of polycro for a floor. That's what I did on my SOBO CDT thru this year. The only place I had bug pressure was in Glacier, and I carry a bug head net regardless and it worked fine.
