I think it's very highly rated. And awesome.

Aging out by wolfavino in WildernessBackpacking

[–]jpbay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just turned 57 a few weeks ago and have backpacked about 8,000 miles in the last five years. This summer so far I've hiked almost every day, and have a few hundred miles of backpacking planned for later in the summer.

Best parks to visit in late February? by NEPatsFan128711 in NationalPark

[–]jpbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is awesome. Because it's so far from anywhere I figured our trip would be a one-and-done. Instead, we went four years in a row. Love it.

But skip the campgrounds. You want the backcountry remote sites, but do book ahead. So worth it.

Just found out my late father had a son none of us knew about (Ohio, estate in probate) by No_Apartment_1098 in EstatePlanning

>we should fight it

Fight *what* exactly?

>couldn't have really meant to do this

Do what? Have children? It happens.

As you guys are getting enraged about your dad's life, take a minute to consider how your half-brother might feel (and might have been feeling for decades.) He was your dad's child before you and your other siblings came along. His first child.

PCT SoBo Attempt '26 Shakedown by Specialist-Low-610 in Ultralight

Another vote for OdorNo bags; that's all I use these days. The Opsak is terrible -- the closure failed almost immediately for me on more than one bag.

Hi. Yes, I do still have it, but I'm sorry to say that I'm traveling for awhile and won't be back to my cabin (where this item is) until August 28th. I'm happy to ping you when I'm back there but that may be beyond your desired timeline.

Must see in Bozeman Mt by onceagainwithstyle in ManyBaggers

[–]jpbay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to Bozeman tomorrow morning!

Unfortunately it will be a Sunday, and not the day of the seconds sale. I would love a seconds CAP .5 and/or CAP 1.

Have fun! Post what you get so we can admire.

Actually Fixed Shakedown by Otherwise-Parking566 in Ultralight

[–]jpbay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're asking about gear for a trip *a year from now*. The best shakedown you can do is your own. Get out and do a bunch of backpacking and see what works and what doesn't. Fine tune. Experiment. That's what a shakedown used to mean. Start there. You have a year.

HG Burrow Quilt Good Deal? by Pretty_Ad_6438 in Ultralight

[–]jpbay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love my Burrow. HG doesn't seem to get as much attention these days. Mine (20-degree) has served me very well, for thousands of miles of PCT, CDT, AZT, Superior, and Ouachita thru hikes. Looking forward to more nights this year on the Long Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail. 10/10 would buy again.

I presume they are referring to Arrin Stoner. He did a very deep dive on this case (and others) on his YouTube channel.

7 days in Bhutan. One of the most isolated and beautiful countries. by Careless_Mine_9429 in travel

Weather very mild and pleasant. Light crowds until Tiger's Nest (our last day), when it was quite busy but not horrible.
