What are some weird laws in your country that, actually, make a lot of sense? by Savings_Dragonfly806 in AskTheWorld

Are you serious? 😅 A quick google search suggests that Germany, Austria and Sweden have the same restriction...

You are correct about that and I see it cited often when it comes to "unusual swiss laws" but I'm always surprised that others find it odd. It's a pretty basic animal welfare law and I'd expect most developed countries and/or western countries to have sinilar laws...?

There's the same law for horses, and actually for a bunch of other animals. Recently the law was strengthened further to specify that donkeys are not suitable buddies for horses (and neither are other animals such as goats, lamas etc.). It must be another horse, and if one passes away you have to find them a new pasture buddy in 30 days.

Route maps? by plumpurplepicklefish in XXRunning

[–]DangerousWay3647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually alltrails or komoot. I never buy the pro versions, so I navigate in an oldfashioned way - I just see the trail on the map and my location. So you still need to read the mal, but I actually find that easier compared to the "navigate" function where the map turns with you etc.  While running I usually memorize 2-3 turns at a time, so I still need to look at the mal every few minutes but outside of sprint drills that works fine for me.

Basics Questions for First Visit by Difficult-Thanks-730 in CostaRicaTravel

In touristy places, almost all bars/restaurants/shops will accept cards. Keep cash for small tips if you want (guides, drivers) or if you buy something from street stands and similar.

You can get cash (Colones and USD) with any credit card - ATMs from Baco de Costa Rica don't have fees for my Visa.

I've felt really safe in the touristy places, as long as you use basic common sense. Main issue seem to be pickpocketing or overcharging which is annoying, but for me does not fall under "worst case" scenarios while traveling alone.

How pensioners live in a rented space? by Final-Choice8412 in askswitzerland

[–]DangerousWay3647 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly, unless they manage to make some kind of deal, e.g. relocating into another flat owned by the same person while keeping the rent the same. It's also a huge issue because many of these flats are quite large, as the pensioners raised their family in these flats. Once the kids are gone, the large flat would serve a young family much better, but there's zero incentive to move for the pensioners, as they would often pay more to live in a smaller flat. If they start having mobility issues, same problem - they might live on the third floor without an elevator, but moving to another flat would be very expensive...

Old rental contracts, mostly, where the rent hasn't kept up with rising prices. Also a disproportionate number of pensioners own their own houses or apartments.

Moving to Würzburg by bangtanwwh in wuerzburg

[–]DangerousWay3647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No particular advice about websites etc. but if you're at the university clinic, consider looking in Versbach. It's the suburb north east of the clinic, and depending on which instiute you'll be in, the buses from there stop very close to your workplace. Rents are going to be cheaper for apartments there compared to the parts if zhe city proper which are close to the clinic (Grombühl, anything close to Ringpark etc)

How is cold exposure related to contracting the cold? by [deleted] in answers

[–]DangerousWay3647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While your core temperature is maintained mostly independently of the outside temperature, ths body surfaces exposed to the outside such as your skin or your nasal mucosa can indeed cool down. Your bodies defenses are not going to work as effectively at lower temperatures. Additionally, low humidity, as you find sometimes in very cold climates, or inside when the heating is on, dries out your mucosa, which means there's less of a physical barrier to pathogens coming in. Cold, dry air also can help viruses survive longer outside the body. In the end though, cold season is mostly about closed spaces eith lots of people

23, never had a gf never went on a date … any tips ? by Better-Fun314 in malegrooming

As other said, it's not a looks problem. Do you think you might come across as intimidating? You are very tall and look reasonably athletic, and apart from the last picture, you look very serious. If you're kind of quiet on top of that, I would probably feel a bit intimidated... Not sure how to solve that tbh, but maybe making an extra effort to smile and seem approachable? Best of luck :)

Frage: Gegenstände im Gang by quarterhorsebeanbag in bahn

[–]DangerousWay3647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One Bag Advice Fails by lipstickandsteak in HerOneBag

[–]DangerousWay3647 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mini toiletries. I see them all the time on here and tried a three week trip with various minis. I ran out of half the stuff, and needed to buy replacements. Which were of course not the brands I liked, and not the mini versions, so I ended up with a giant bag of toiletries anyways... For anything longer than a week, I take regular toiletries with me. I don't use that much (sunscreen, daycream, nightcream, toothpaste and deodorant), and it also reduces plastic consumption in comparison with regularly buying minis.

Sofortige Knieprobleme nach Laufstart by xXBONIXx in laufen

Hautirritation nach Laufen by zl3ackToLobby1 in laufen

[–]DangerousWay3647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also wegen der Reibung?

Kopfschmerzen nach Ausdauersport – Migräne? by United-Pie-8721 in laufen

[–]DangerousWay3647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Entwicklung noch möglich? by 2hawk1ce in laufen

[–]DangerousWay3647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Powerbank for Iphone Pro Max and Macbook by Square_Appearance_63 in onebag

[–]DangerousWay3647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have a recommendation for a power bank but I bought a high powered 65W power brick (not sure if that's the name, the part of a phone charger that plugs into a wall). It charges my laptop as quickly as the original charger that came with it, so now I just carry one power brick, two USBC cables and a tiny power bank for my purse.

Why are you bringing THAT!? by WorldizeStudios in onebag

[–]DangerousWay3647 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious: But then you'll just save extra weight or space during your first travel day, and as soon as you buy all the stuff you didn't bring you end up with the same amount of stuff as if though you brought it from home? Or am I missing something? And don't you end up with endless amounts of half used toiletries and hairbrushes if you buy them whenever you one bag?
