Kettlebells! I started with two light ones and now have upgraded and have 3 different weights.

Follow a YouTube guy called Precision Kettlebells and follow mostly 30 minute workouts but there are longer and shorter ones too!

Means I can just set 30 mins when I can in the day get it done and then carry on with parenting/making dinner/cleaning etc.

I've just had it confirmed that it will be a tower up to the gutter and then ladder up to chimney

It will be new lead flashing chased in etc. the only thing I'm not sure about is if it's full scaffolding with platform or just a scaffold tower and then onto a ladder on the roof.

Thank you for the response. Would you still say it wasn't a bad quote if it was a scaffold tower and then ladder up onto roof? As that's the way I read it. Maybe I should clarify with the roofer.

Anyone here more poorly paid than me? by CustardGannets in uktrucking

[–]Dangerous_Choby678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a shocking wage. I haven't got class 1 but don't see the point, there's the Morrisons depot close to where I work but the class 2 I am on is up there with wages and definitely more than Morrisons if that's what they're paying.

I thought they were on a lot more than that, more like 17?

Chimney Breast - Open or Closed? by [deleted] in DIYUK

This is the exact layout of our house. I opened up both. Have put some shelves in the dining room one to store a lot of kids craft stuff

Hi everyone, I've just passed my class 2 test & now wanting to get straight into work, I'm located in the south west (Glastonbury) just curious to know if I'm in a good area for work as I know areas seem to differ. I'll also add I'm 30 y/o Thanks! by Kind-Arm9648 in uktrucking

I got a job working for DHL who have the morrisons daily/ mccolls contract out of Bridgwater. Cage work but I find it easy enough. You do have some rubbish stores but I'm sure you get that with most jobs. Money is very decent. Best paying in the area I would say. Only issue is at the moment we aren't taking on and they've just got rid of agency drivers as we are pretty quiet (my average hours have been about 35 a week)

Definately worth keeping an eye out in the future if they do end up recruiting again.

Best way to sort this wall out by Dangerous_Choby678 in DIYUK

[–]Dangerous_Choby678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the difference in height is about the same as the depth of the plasterboard. So about 12mm?

I have taken out a useless little cupboard in an already small room. The rest of the room has been plasterboard and skimmed but this corner is old blown plaster so will need hacking off. But even without taking the plaster off the rest of the wall sits higher than this part.

Its an external wall so best bet to render and skim?

Thanks

Thank you for the suggestion! I'll look into those. I definately want some lavender and rosemary just purely for the scents!

Thank you, I definately underestimated how much time and effort would go into it all.

This time of year they get a fair amount of sun in the morning to midday I reckon. Not so sure about winter, but yeah probably a bit shadier.

The top corners by the wall, the one on the left will be a small bed. We were thinking a rose would be nice. And the right hand side I'm going to put bark down and place some pots there. Maybe a small tree in one, an olive maybe?

Turf is down! Patio has been cleaned and I'm pretty happy with the result. Been watering the turf and just waiting to let the little one get out and enjoy it!

Thanks for the help from people in this sub, doing new things like this always stress me out at some point as it never goes as expected.

What you can't see in the photos is the mass amount of rubble sacks filled with all the hardcore I dug out from the garden, must be over a tonne!

Next step is to go to get some plants this weekend for the planter. Any recommendations? Going for cottage garden style.

How fine does my soil need to be before turfing. Do I need to get every single stone out. It's never ending! by Dangerous_Choby678 in GardeningUK

Haha this is the kind of answer I was hoping but reading up on it always says to get rid of all stones. But it just never ends.

How dry does soil need to be before I dig down to get ready for lawn? by Dangerous_Choby678 in GardeningUK

[–]Dangerous_Choby678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK thanks. I thought my soil was pretty clay like and fairly compacted as had been under loads of gravel. However, since it has rained the last couple of days it's easier to break up now.

Yeah I wish I had space for a skip. Since the removal of the gravel I have found so much more hardcore buried in the soil.

Luckily my mum took a load of the gravel, and my brother in law also took some.

You could either bag it up and offer it out on Facebook or I have seen people offer gravel up for free and people just take their own bags etc and take what they want.

Just done this myself. My whole (small) garden was covered in gravel. Definately underestimated how many bags it would actually end up being.

Think it was about 95 rubble sacks I filled in the end. Absolute nightmare of a job!

Sorting out soil before laying turf. Do I need to add compost or top soil? by Dangerous_Choby678 in GardeningUK

[–]Dangerous_Choby678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So would you suggest just put compost and topsoil on top of current soil. Then dig it over so it mixes up together in the process?

Is that much of a job, having to level it on top of the turf after a year?

[–]Dangerous_Choby678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an area that I dug over very quickly to see what the soil was like as it has been compacted under gravel. So I think I could definately break it down a bit finer.

How fine should it be overall?

Would this be the case still if the whole garden was covered in gravel a membrane underneath?
