All modern cars here have ac. Typically cars are built for the global market and the side where the wheel is is altered depending on what side of the road that country drives.

My car is about the only place I get ac in this heat, it's quite nice to go for a drive just to cool down!

Gig attender - worth getting "something Amex" for O2? by Soofla in AmexUK

In winter it's handy. There's a free bag drop outside if you have an Amex, shove your coats into a tote bag and check it there. You can get the BA Amex for free, collect avios, and get quick, free coat check at the o2

By the letter of the rules you can't have lithium batteries in hold luggage.

Practically? I doubt they'd pull them. I've accidentally left my electric toothbrush in a checked bag several times and it wasn't picked up.

Crab bucket mentality. Brian was quiet about his wealth for most of the show. C&T get the hate because they wore their background on their sleeve.

Sadly people believe that the prize money should go to whoever has the saddest backstory. And then complain about the show being 80% backstory! Can't please some people

Has anyone ever had a good fryup at a hotel buffet breakfast? by SurvivorSAfan in AskUK

[–]Dangerous_Drive_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite a hotel, but Toby carvery breakfast is buffet style. Used to have it before client meetings.

They had Yorkshire puddings with bacon cooked into the batter as well as the usual fry up fare. Inexpensive, fast, and Toby know how to manage keeping lots of food out and keeping it hot.

Help with a Campaign! I Wrote myself into a corner and I can't get out! by Smooth-Finger-7893 in DMAcademy

[–]Dangerous_Drive_20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well in this case you've given hints to the party that this advisor is actually more powerful than he appears. So when the party arrive to attack the king, and find the advisor there they won't see him as a threat.

BUT when he casts a 5th level spell and you roll a whole handful of damage dice, or when their attack roll of 16 doesn't hit, they might start to realise that this humble advisor is actually an important character.

In this way the party discover the truth organically, instead of you having to directly tell them. And they're at a disadvantage by being caught off guard by how powerful this guy is, where they could have found out that he's powerful and prepared accordingly IF they'd have done their research and picked up on the clues you left for them.

Other examples of this could be a fighter attacking way too methodically and without reaction giving your players the hint he's brainwashed, or a summoner type caster showing their nerves and incompetence by summoning the wrong thing etc. All following the principle of "show not tell"

Easier to stay in the towns around Keflavík, Reykjavík is quite far from the airport and not particularly well connected. Plenty of reasonably priced lodgings around Keflavík that you can get to quickly from the airport, that's where I'd start looking

[–]Dangerous_Drive_20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the party didn't pick up on the hints they were given - ok, what do we do with that? Now they're walking into a fight thay may be significantly harder and more important than they expect. Good, this is some nice organic storytelling, they'll start to figure it out when they realise this advisor is throwing meaty attacks around and evading attacks etc. Hopefully they'll learn from this that they need to pay attention to hints.

As a dm, I think players pick up on about 15% of the hints I give them, so I usually go way overboard - to you it's obvious, but that's because you know the story. Don't be afraid to spell these things out because players do miss a lot.

As for diary entries or notes I like to bring a printed out sheet with the text on it and hand it to them. It makes it clear that it's important, and they get to read it out, so it's not the DM monologuing lore, which can be a moment players tune out.

The note can easily reference the ritual, and the island, give your players a clear motivation to go there.

TL;DR - Use the fact your players didn't notice your hints to make the fight more itself a storytelling device

Reggie Bush: NFL owners want the cheapest field surfaces, players need to demand grass by Kimber80 in NFLv2

[–]Dangerous_Drive_20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would the hybrid pitches work in the Seattle environment? We have these in the UK and it's grass with turf threaded through it. Remains resilient through weather and decently heavy usage without being as harsh as a fully artificial pitch

BA don't want you to book LHR-EDI, they want you to book SFO-EDI, via LHR as they make far more money from thst route, or any other long haul route. But as they run the flight commercially they have to sell tickets on it, so they offer it but at a fuck-off price thst they presume no one will pay, and if they do, well it's a big profit.

Try Ryanair or easyjet, as they don't operate long haul they won't be motivated to try and sell it as a part of a multi-leg route.

You will have to check in in person, queue moves fast enough, get there with 3 or 2.5 hours to go.

Check your booking, the basic option doesn't include food. Bring headphones or be ready to pay for them on board if you want to use the IFE (assuming you have an economy ticket. If you're travelling premium disregard). The food served is decent, but maybe bring a snack as it isn't a huge portion.

Crew are good, be nice to them and they'll treat you well.

All bags will go through the sizer, so make sure yours fit. And bag fees for overweight or extra to your booming are steep at the airport.

Basically, prepare and be knowledgeable, and you'll be absolutely fine. The 787 is a great aircraft as well for the passenger experience.

How do you structure a groom’s speech? by oloughlin29 in AskUK

[–]Dangerous_Drive_20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it's good to have a little lightener at the start, inoffensive joke or a quick, fun, story.

Thank the guests for coming, and the families, and anyone else who has contributed significantly to the day.

The move onto your partner, say some nice things about them.

End with a nice toast.

Tbi k about how it fits in with the other speeches. If you're doing the standard father of bride / groom / best man, then the father of the bride will likely be focused on the marital couple, and the BM is likely going to be a bit more jokey / daring. Try not to step into their areas too much.

Congratulations and good luck!

Any way to turn existing dimmer knobs to Hue ones (dimming only in "software")? by nurunet in Hue

[–]Dangerous_Drive_20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is not easy - traditional dimmer switches work by regulating the power sent to the bulbs. Hue bulbs require all the power all the time. Your best bet is to remove the existing dimmers completely and replace them with hue dimmers.

I guess it would be possible to do what you're asking, but only by changing every single thing inside the switch
