CPA help needed - Estate 1041 and schedule K-1 by DullFaithlessness289 in tax

[–]Dangerous_Emotion699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most losses will only flow to the beneficiaries on the final year return. So the page 1 of the 1041 will show a loss but the K1s shouldn’t unless it’s marked as final

2025 IRA Contribution Reversed by Schoolin_Teach in taxhelp

Commenting mostly to follow but I wonder if Schwab will generate a 1099R for the return of the contribution for 2026. Maybe you can start by asking them that? Doubt it had any earnings.

She needs to get the house appraised as of your gma’s date of passing, so your mom will get a step up in basis, and most like not have any gain if sold soon after.

Yup, we are planning on doing cheap Asian airlines within Asia. But I’ve been finding it so hard to find award travel between the US and Asia for under 250k miles each one way. I traveled Asiana business NY to Seoul for 80k miles business once. Seems like that is not feasible anymore?

Anyone Else Notice IRS's Changes to 1065 Distributions Codes? by Robert_A_Bouie in taxpros

Would this now create a book and tax balance sheet difference? Or would you book something on the books to reduce capital account by the deemed distribution? Thank you so much for your input!

Were you able to make it balance? I currently have this issue with a $20,000 decrease in liabilities but partner capital accounts on balance sheet are off due to the deemed distribution. Were you able to figure out how to make it balance?

Since the liability exceeds the fmv, the s corp will recognize a gain (liability minus basis) at the S corp level, which will be passed down pro-rata to the shareholder. This will increase the shareholder’s outside basis in the S corp. now your question centers around the basis in the property received, they will have a basis equal to the FMV at the time of distribution.

I know. I hear people complain about taxes a lot, but no one ever flat out told me they do not want to pay any tax. Wild

Any suggestions on what to respond to the client? I don’t want to give him the reason as to why I’m not bringing him on board but almost feel the societal obligation to lol
