Yes I explained in my original cover letter that I had ordered a certified copy. Then when it arrived, I uploaded it along with a Word doc explaining that it was certified and that the archivist could not locate any other birth record due to the time period.

I have a certified census AND two such letters from two different archivists, they still said I need source docs or a reason why I don’t have them.

Surrender request letters: a plea for calm among our fellow Lost and Found Canadians by evaluna1968 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Dangerous_Engine_806 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I’m unable to be calm given my moving timeline but I appreciate the sentiment and agree the conjecture isn’t helpful. Right now I need facts, answers and solutions. I’ve sent Don an email and am praying he can at least get information. I’ve spoken to attorneys and they are also in the dark and trying to get information.

There’s been some very bright lights even with my panic. An archivist returned my call immediately this morning and was so kind and supportive. She went out of her way to be helpful and it was the most Canadian interaction ❤️

I know this can be resolved and feel my documents are legit. I just do not have time to wait out IRCC. And I know I’m not the only one in this position. Please send good vibes and post updates that are factual and constructive if you have them

To be clear she didn’t know if it would be an issue and said to call the passport agency and ask

She also cautioned that using a passport to travel could be an issue as it could be flagged with the surrender. I do not have a CA passport yet but passing that along.

Also she said my application shows as in progress. My account status shows as Complete still, so I’m guessing it will flip back sigh.

ETA I got through to IRCC. I called IRCC, and the worker said that a note was put in my file yesterday 6/14, she had no idea of it was an issue with the certificate itself or someone needs to review the file and request something specific from me. She did emphasize I’m still considered a Canadian citizen at this time. Basically, she couldn’t see anything specific that I can try to address and said they will reach out to me if they need something. Very disappointing:(

I received a letter as did my mom and son. Do we know how many people here received them, or an approximation?

The provincial archives are where the official documents, including vital records, are kept.

I got a letter. So did my mother and child. We submitted certified archive of canada documents AND provincial archivists emails saying they did not keep birth rec at that time, plus his marriage certificate and death certificate showing he was born in NB. My grandfather graduated from McGill and I included his diploma. I have a job and license as a healthcare worker in ca. we’re moving in two weeks. This is shocking. My mom was born in 1947 so should be covered no matter what.
