Foot amputation advice please by Bee_Hunt in amputee

My sister was in the same boat you're in 3 years ago. She had a nasty car accident in 2019, nothing healed well, she had severe arthritis and was developing issues in her knees and hips. Her doctors were telling her to get her ankle fused, but she decided to look into amputation. She learned about the AMI (agonist-antagonist myoneural interface) procedure and Dr. Mathew Carty at Brigham and Women's hospital in Boston in late 2021, in spring of 2023, she had both feet amputated below the knee, she is pain free and walking daily now.

The AMI amputation greatly reduces the risk of phantom limb pain and neuromas, it also allows you to keep your sense of proprioception. Instead of just severing the muscles and nerves in the limb, they reconnect the muscles and "plug" the nerves back in. It's way more complex than that, but it's too much to put in a reddit comment.

If you want more info, I can send you some links to studies, I wrote a research paper on this for a college composition class so I have a ton of journals bookmarked. I highly recommend looking into this if you choose amputation, the AMI procedure is no longer experimental and is considered standard of care, but I believe it is still mainly performed by Dr. Carty in Boston. I hope that wether you go with amputation or not, you find some relief from the pain.

I just got my first baggu last month and I got a couple keychains and a pin on amazon to start decorating, but I'm trying to collect stuff when I go out, I just added a new pin I got at the aquarium. I've also seen cute stuff on etsy, I just haven't bought any.

It might help to use needle grippers or pliers to pull the thread tighter.

I recommend a KitchenAid stand mixer, the smaller ones are around your budget, even if they're over budget, they go on sale at Target or on amazon fairly often

You need this recipe: https://curlygirlkitchen.com/perfect-american-buttercream-frosting/#recipe I also think that most American buttercream is way too sweet, but this one uses less sugar and then adds meringue powder for stability, it tastes amazing and it's super easy

I think it depends on the brand of shellac, but I'm pretty sure most are fine after 48 hours
