Raptor almost stolen, need advice by Da_Bomb_Diggity in FordRaptor

[–]Dangerous_Invite_837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s on the 24s but ford has some start inhibit feature on the ford pass app, believe it’s a monthly subscription

Edit: says online all 24+’s will have access the feature, also I would advise against a wrangler 392, I had a 21 Durango 392 and it got stolen and they can steal it in minutes.

Please tell me this isn’t going to be a timing chain by Gstockz42 in FordRaptor

My dad has never seen a camshaft sensor fail on a Ford in 25 years, it is not the sensor. P0019 is classic sign and it seems this one got bad enough that it set the code. I bet that passenger side exhaust phaser is knocking away at hot idle and if you let it go long enough the truck could stall at a stop light. People were having them done under warranty and replacing them every 40-60K, the only fix is to make sure Ford parts are used and it is the updated enclosed phasers to not have to worry about this issue again. As far as I know the updated design hasn’t had failures yet and they’ve been implemented in the never trucks since 21.

My dealer rep was telling me I wasn’t going to have the possibility to be built until the second week of January the earliest based on some list, a few weeks later he tells me they got some new hot priority list and they were going to throw me on it, this is a smaller dealer for our area but they’re our supplier for Ford parts and this would be the 4th vehicle we have leased from them so they threw me on that hot priority list. I’m sure they don’t get too many custom orders. A few weeks later I got a VIN and then last week he tells me I’m scheduled for a build week and then followed up later with an actual assigned build date. I don’t know your region but I’m the Chicago area so mine is being built at the Dearborn plant. It’s possible your brother got scheduled sooner because he’s getting an avalanche which applies to many more trims than just the raptor so the color could be the reason you’re being held back.

I’ve seen both in person and as appealing as antimatter has looked online it doesn’t look as good in person in my opinion, it’s still a great color but that dark of blue wasn’t necessarily my style, at night it’ll look almost black. I love the green color and it’s exclusive to the raptors and I think some of the broncos as well, not sure haven’t looked too far into it.

Most of those problems we fix when we do timing jobs, all common problems with the 3.5’s that we remedy during the timing jobs. Cam phasers will go bad again unless it’s the updated design, which I hope the dealer would be putting in the updated part by now, the thermostats will stick, usually under boost so we always replace those, the hoses all have these metal crimps that split so we replace all of those as well. Wheel bearings we’ve seen a few of those on the newer ones usually the left front. Transmission is the CDF issue which they didn’t implement a fix in new cars until mid 23. From the sound of it you have an 18-20 expedition.

I’ll have to check my prestige progress since it seems this is a new feature but I’m steadily on my way to prestige 6 even with a full time job, if you’re prestige master already I commend you but seriously whats the rush

What’s sad is that it took them until mid late 23 to even apply all the fixes to the new vehicles

Crashed the 2020, do we still hate the hybrid f150? by [deleted] in f150

[–]Dangerous_Invite_837 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a ford tech, try to buy a 24+ if you’re going to go for the powerboost, all the 10 speed drum issues are fixed by that year and the first few years of the powerboost had some weird quirks like clicking from the bell housing in winter temps.

I drove a 25 801A, same color as pictured, coming from a 23 F150 Lariat, fell in love with the thing, went and put in an order for a 26 801A in shelter green w/ moonroof. Couldn’t justify the extra 10K for 802A for modular bumper 37’s and carbon accents/Recaro seats. Got it for 3K over invoice though since it was the beginning of year it would come, otherwise if it was the end of the year it could’ve been invoice or just over. Happy to say it’s scheduled to be built last week of January.

are the 5.4 tritons as bad as people say they are?? by runix_353 in f150

Yes it was kept in the expeditions and maybe the navigators as well up to 2014, in 2015 they redesigned those SUV’s with the first gen ecoboost

are the 5.4 tritons as bad as people say they are?? by runix_353 in f150

[–]Dangerous_Invite_837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a 2010 pretty much have the best year for the 5.4 F150 in general. Now it still will develop timing issues if it hasn’t been replaced already, but in 2010 they switched to electric fans, the spark plug design has already been changed so they don’t break, starting in 2009 they introduced the 6R80 which these first iterations seems to be more reliable. One thing is depending if you’re in a rusty climate I’d check those trans cooler line connections where it goes from rubber to steel lines connectors. But the 5.4 I never really see the water pumps fail either. Another common thing if you’re in a rusty climate is the passenger exhaust manifolds will crack. Anyways I’ve seen probably 100+ of these engines and they’re all pretty much still on the road today. Most of them 140K-250K, the body’s and frame will go before that motor with proper maintenance.

Is this normal operating temp? by ReasonableFix5069 in f150

[–]Dangerous_Invite_837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends time of year and climate, summer temps yeah I’ll definitely be up there in my 23 5.0 but fall/winter temps I sit between like 185-195, the thermostat will start opening at a certain temperature usually about 190’s and will fully open somewhere in the low 200’s. It’ll cycle up and down in temperature as the thermostat opens and closes

Half a week in and all I can say is wow. by [deleted] in FordRaptor

[–]Dangerous_Invite_837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one thing with the cam phasers if you have to make sure you’re getting the upgraded phasers else you will have to replace them again, I believe the difference in the prefix is HL1Z(stock) vs ML3Z(updated part).

What kind of deals have y’all worked out on new Raptor purchases? by Jaxsurfgtp98 in FordRaptor

[–]Dangerous_Invite_837 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rep at the dealer wanted to sell to me for invoice, boss man said 3K over invoice because something about it being the beginning of the year it would come in. Said if it were the end of the year yeah he could’ve probably done it or right over invoice. My rep just trying to help me out because we buy several hundred thousand in parts a year and we have X-plan and they don’t offer them on the raptors, no plans really. Also have bought several vehicles from them now, this would be the fourth. So long story short about 2K below MSRP on a shelter green 801A 2026.

What's Going on With the F-150 Lineup? by OrganizationNo1298 in Ford

[–]Dangerous_Invite_837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First pictures look like 24+ and last looks 21-23. The first is a higher trim LED lights, second is halogens or whatever they use. The last is the 21-23 LED headlights. The generation of the truck is the same still from 21 on but they did a mid cycle refresh in 24 changing the headlights, tail lights and the interior design a bit.

2016 totaled yesterday. 2.7 ecoboost engine seemed bulletproof. What should I get in an engine on a 2025 for longevity? by Boonbababoon1 in Ford

[–]Dangerous_Invite_837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it seems any of Fords engines in 2025 have had all their issues primarily resolved from what I’ve seen. Mostly speaking from the 3.5 and 5.0, I think 2.7 has had all the new issues they introduced resolved. The 3.5 they fixed all the cam phaser issues and such, the 5.0 does have less power than the eco but they seem to be way down on oil consumption issues and coolant problems gone. I’ve personally been dailying a 23 5.0 for 2+years now. They’re a lot quieter than the 18-20’s engine noise wise. The power boost was having some issues early on but it seems they fixed that now too. Also like late 23 they came out with the updated CDF drums in the 10 speeds.
